I have tried hair removal creams and had similar experience. However, to reduce the reddishness and the burning. I had generously applied coconut oil to the area, wait for 10 minutes before applying the hair removal cream. This helped to reduce the pain reasonably well.

I settled down to using the trimmer though. Got myself Zlade. Works well for me.
