What's going on on Soi 6 has absolutely nothing to do with Angels City or any Koreans. It can only be traced back to a single guy who has been using his money to change the business model of Soi 6 for a few years without being financially successful (Nightwish). It used to be about fu*, today it's about lady drinks. In the past, the girls and the bar owners earned a lot more than they do today.

Every bar used to have a good mamasan who made sure that no customer sat alone at the table. Today the girls stand outside on the street and call customers in. These customers then sit alone in the bar and drink a beer. Then they leave again because they are too bored.

To run a bar successfully you have to consider 2 things:

1. You have to be able to attract customers to the bar.

Actually, the transition from the girls providing good / great value sexually to them hustling customers for Lady Drinks instead because the bar owners and management wanted it that way and with increased pressure and higher LD commissions implemented to make it so is exactly what happened in Angeles City in the Philippines.

Only the transition in Angeles City did not begin a few years ago and it wasn't at the behest of Korean bar owners.

It happened about 30 years ago and at the behest of Western bar owners.

Yep, they formed a "consortium" or group of Western bar owners from the bars on Field Avenue back then too and their meetings were all about making sure everyone was on the same sheet of music about raking in as much money on Lady Drink sales from the girls and good STs or LTs regarding sex be damned. They didn't give a shit about that anymore.

In fact, if the girl gave crap service in the room, all the better. Then her customer, who had been required to Pre-Pay the whole bundle Upfront at the bar and TO the bar management, will surely kick her out early and, bingo, back to the bar she went to earn more LD commissions and make her boss smile big time.

They also knew that very, very few punters would have the brass balls to March back to the bar, complain and demand his Pre-Paid money back.

I know. I was there before the transition, during the transition and after the transition. I knew several Field Avenue gogo bar owners at the time. I was privy to what was being agreed to at those meetings.

And there was plenty of screaming, anger and complaining about it on Angeles City message boards at the time. Sure, as a punter I advised the bar owners I was acquainted with not to make that change. Didn't matter, of course. They did it anyway.

You ignore the fact that the NW business model has changed because of Korean 2 week millionaires. They buy so many drinks, the ladies can afford to ignore Farangs sitting alone in the bar.

Its the Angeles City effect. Korean 2 week millionaires throw money at the ladies. Then the Farangs stop going. The ladies stop going to the room with customers unless its for crazy money. Its a death spiral.

The Nightwish Group has mastered the first point perfectly. But they've never heard of the second point.

I used to spend an evening on Soi 6 and left 3-4 K there. Twice boom boom, drinks, food. Today 500 baht is enough for me. I get boom boom at the coconut bar. ST in Soi 6 is more expensive today than in Germany. (I'm German).

I was in Pattaya 30-40 times. Now I'm in Thailand to visit my brother. Otherwise I wouldn't come here again.

Haven't been following this thread carefully but I don't recall reading much about Soi Boomerang lately so thought I'd provide an update. Walked through it last night. Seemed active. One bar stood out based on the girls sitting outside. It was called Pink something IIRC. 2 young slim girls caught my eye and both very keen on getting me in the bar. Sadly I was on my way to meet a friend so no time but I'll return soon.

The Chinese have not left. Pattaya is swarming with loud rude Chinese now and I'm not even talking about the bars. Try having a quiet dinner at Terminal 21. The Thai girls give them the dirtiest looks but that doesn't even faze the Chinese.

Yes, they are here as noted not defending the Chinese. Many associate them with big tour groups in buses that park at Bali H pier day and night with them on WS, the masses are more in smaller groups these Chinese are better off with money and know how to use social media to get around. We even have them on the dark side of Pattaya I see these small groups near my house and my wife's restaurant at one of the nice resorts with even a casino I hear rumors out here in Nongprue.

Not defending them but the problem with Thais is they are prejudiced and racist, and the majority come with profiles of Chinese no matter where they come from even myself who is from the USA I see it in my wife, son, and their Thai friends day in day out although after all these years not so much from my family. In short, many Thais think their shit doesn't stink all falls within this is Thailand!

Sure some Chinese groups are loud and pushy I've been at the HK airport boarding area and heard them coming a mile away. They might present themselves better out in public but in their surrounding, they are as loud and lack manners as any Chinese from the farm. I remember a decade ago joking my wife brought up a stereotype about Chinese. In Cantonese, it is called " Hop Too " where the person takes a deep breath and brings up a load of spit through his nose like of tube of glue takes their favorite hand grabs it from their nose flings it out then takes and wipes their hands on the clothes LOL Sure I've seen this many times back home from old school Chinese.

They don't see many Thais do regularly themselves here with locals but they never want to recognize it waiting once in the car for gas saw the attendant do it right in front of us, I responded look at Chinese working here pumping gas. We have a Thai guy cook helper do it regularly I say look a Chinese cook! Regularly put them when they drink in their environment they are as loud as any Chinese I've seen in China during my visits in 70-80-90.

Many Thais I've encountered here in 20 years don't even know China is a communist country. Today Koreans I see still are on top of the list particularly for the youth this is due to the T. V. And their soaps! I know several girls who were recruited to work in Korea two who married found out the place and people not to their liking and returned same with Japan.

The Chinese sadly are too entrenched especially the Triads in this country last report they own 32 provinces of this country out of 72, and their reach is already to the top tier of government and growing.

I forgot to mention this: a bargirl came to my condo a few months ago, and got so drunk she needed to call someone to take her home. A Korean guy showed up.

Apparently, he wasn't her boyfriend (although she would probably like him to be), but instead an agent. He secured Korean customers for her.

The price of the barfine was already 2 K to 2.5 K for quite some time and it was not only limited to Nightwish related bars.

Some members seem to be alarmed of a 1 K increase in the barfine price.

As you said, barfining a girl in these places is a sucker's practice, being asked to spend 1 K more won't push them stopping being suckers.

One has to remember that on top of the barfine these guys are also giving 4 K to 5 K for these girls, plus many lady drinks before taking her out of the bar, plus taking care of all her needs once outside of the bar, so the 1 K baht difference is nothing in this case.

And these bars are not destroying their own market given that they are the only ones bringing in new talents, and they stop the contracts of the underperforming girls which are being forced to move in others bars and lower their income expectations.

You know more than I do about Soi today! Like you, I know what it was before and why it is the way it is today! I'm not a big fan of the Nightwish group their phony website, and the head Brit crybaby! Although I do a walk thru every few months it has been years since I've gone to a place to buy a drink or partake in BF which was even before Covid. I only did so to push my sports group so I could advertise at their bars.

I don't find myself being in the same category as needing to have it cause I'm visiting or needing to pay what is being paid cause I need to have a trophy for the night. When it was 1500 I wouldn't pay it out of personal principal LOL. Because I'm Asian I get profiled the prices I get I never question nor get mad or even show upset I just say nothing smile and never show negative to them. I'm not cheap the way it works for me I start low or reasonable if they go and meet my expectations I repeat the reward goes up I've given ladies 3 times what I started because they are honest with me and the service. To each his own but I don't rate them strictly on looks although it does matter. My motto today is to look at a steak and then get a good hamburger. There is no chick today for me worth a 2000 baht BF.

The Thailand Redcat Guide to BJ bars that VelvetThumper linked is a useful overview in one place. But like most such guides, it gets out of date fairly quickly. Some examples:

Lolitas on Soi Pothole is gone. The replacement (Scarlet Bar?) is nothing special. There are other good bars on Soi Pothole, however.

Club 4, described as "the currently best blow job bar in Pattaya" is gone. The replacement (Manuya Club?) doesn't offer ANY on site activity and quoted me prices more than twice the going rates for off-site. I visited 6 bars in that cluster on Bong Koch 8 (the others were 007, Pirates, Carre Blanc, Purple and Bada Bing), many which Redcat rates highly. I found them all quite disappointing and visiting that area to be a serious waste of time vs. Just about anywhere else. As always, YMMV, but I would skip it.

I'm looking for a BJ bar in Pattaya... where different girls come to present themselves and if you pay them give a BJ, and you can see other guys get a BJ as well.

I have only been in Pattaya for a week, but I have only seen one BJ Bar or Gents Club where they didn't take you upstairs or close the curtains downstairs. I am pretty sure the exception was Club Fate, where there were several guys getting serviced with the curtains open when I visited in the early evening.
