Its amazing how Koreans have changed the business model at NW so that ladies rarely get laid. It used to be a fuck factory, and many ladies would burn out in a month. Now they can stick around, no problem, long enough to learn some Korean.

So why are there loads of them forced to go and work in other bars if it's so easy for all of them?

It does not matter how one is seen. It matters what the girl is going to get for herself. She gets nothing from the guy that walks in and buys 3 drinks for himself and does not seem cheap. She gets 1000 baht from the guy that walks in and buys no drinks and seems cheap, but takes her right upstairs for short time. Who worries about how they are seen among hookers? That is like walking into a restaurant and worrying about how you are seen by the kitchen staff.

Of course, if a guy walks in and buys 3 drinks for himself and none for the bargirl, she will disappear in 30 seconds, and reappear at the side of a Korean 2 week millionaire who buys her 20 drinks.

Why is it so difficult to ask the girl right as you sit down if they go upstairs or not? Are people actually buying 2+ lady drinks before they even inquire about upstairs?

I could understand about not asking before you buy, so I always ask after I buy them the first drink if they go upstairs or not. If they ask why, I say because girl not go upstairs.

Good points all. And let's not forget that even if a guy finds a girl he fancies and buys her a few drinks, he may discover to his dismay that she declines to go upstairs.

I think there are several macro factors encourage this lamentable move away from how Soi Six used to operate in the good old days. The Thai economy is doing pretty well, especially in the manufacturing sector where Thailand competes strongly to be a low cost producer of goods high on the value chain. There are plenty of jobs for workers with low educational attainment.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) Thai thought does not match with western economics in that manner. 2000 baht short time with farang is going to trump standing on your feet all day in a crummy factory assembling plastic parts for 300 baht. In some cases, sitting on your ass drinking apple juice for 500 baht per day will also beat out 2000 baht short time with farang.

If you had followed Neil Hutchison's rating (author of the Money Number One series), number 6 would have been fleas on a soi dog, then number 7 farang.

These customers then sit alone in the bar and drink a beer. Then they leave again because they are too bored.

So there are fewer young people leaving the farm in search of a better life, which translates into fewer young women finding their way to Pattaya. Finally, it seems like customer preferences have changed. There are now enough guys willing to sit and drink that the bars and the girls can make a living on "downstairs" revenue alone. Or perhaps *mostly* on downstairs revenue. I could get off on a rant here about the wimpy losers who prefer sipping and staring to climbing the stairs. But that's a waste of time. I think I'll go yell at some clouds instead.

Do you mean how the girls rank or sort punters or where guys can find the best girls?

There are quite a few you tube videos showing the girls likes, often by knowledgeable bar managers.

The other one is impossible to list as no two guys like the same things. There are also areas with predominantly unattractive girls but with some absolutely stunning outliers. India jumps to mind.

It can only be traced back to a single guy who has been using his money to change the business model of Soi 6 for a few years without being financially successful (Nightwish). It used to be about fu*, today it's about lady drinks. In the past, the girls and the bar owners earned a lot more than they do today.

Every bar used to have a good mamasan who made sure that no customer sat alone at the table. Today the girls stand outside on the street and call customers in. These customers then sit alone in the bar and drink a beer. Then they leave again because they are too bored.

To run a bar successfully you have to consider 2 things:

1. You have to be able to attract customers to the bar.

Actually, the transition from the girls providing good / great value sexually to them hustling customers for Lady Drinks instead because the bar owners and management wanted it that way and with increased pressure and higher LD commissions implemented to make it so is exactly what happened in Angeles City in the Philippines.

Only the transition in Angeles City did not begin a few years ago and it wasn't at the behest of Korean bar owners.

It happened about 30 years ago and at the behest of Western bar owners.

Yep, they formed a "consortium" or group of Western bar owners from the bars on Field Avenue back then too and their meetings were all about making sure everyone was on the same sheet of music about raking in as much money on Lady Drink sales from the girls and good STs or LTs regarding sex be damned. They didn't give a shit about that anymore.

In fact, if the girl gave crap service in the room, all the better. Then her customer, who had been required to Pre-Pay the whole bundle Upfront at the bar and TO the bar management, will surely kick her out early and, bingo, back to the bar she went to earn more LD commissions and make her boss smile big time.

They also knew that very, very few punters would have the brass balls to March back to the bar, complain and demand his Pre-Paid money back.

I know. I was there before the transition, during the transition and after the transition. I knew several Field Avenue gogo bar owners at the time. I was privy to what was being agreed to at those meetings.

And there was plenty of screaming, anger and complaining about it on Angeles City message boards at the time. Sure, as a punter I advised the bar owners I was acquainted with not to make that change. Didn't matter, of course. They did it anyway.
