If you are a member of a hotel group like IHG, Novotel etc then you can book accommodation by giving your CC as security.

You will not be charged provided you cancel within this time limit ie about 48 hours before.

All booking profiles charge you upfront and certainly, they will recover their commission if you cancel their booking later on.
