If you read my whole review Davey1965, not the selected ET response that you replied to, you will find I also enjoyed Udon Thani.

The problem was only encountered in Night and Day bars, where I also enjoyed playing pool and a drink before these minimum cap games came into play.

Thankfully there are many other playful bars in the area.

Yes I totally agree. I left Udon two weeks ago after spending three weeks there. I never even encountered the 3 drink minimum as I enjoy chatting a girl up, shooting some pool with them and having fun. The best part is when you buy them a LD it's a real drink. Not some watered down crap like at Pattaya and not overpriced either. I've had great luck in all the establishments in town.

I walked over having been told to buy 3 ladydrinks in the short 30 minutes they had left until they had to close for Buddha Day.

I said I'd pay the barfine, I'd buy a drink, but that wasn't enough for them, even tho the girls wanted to go.

Oscar bit disappointing, went at 5 pm, just 2 in fishbowl, mamasan and said, no more girls are coming today, waited for 30 minutes more, no more gals appears, so went with what is at available for 2100 bhat, it's not a proper soapy what you get at bkk and pattaya, covered BJ. Sonklin was much better experience with 4 hands at 1500.

Good call! The way to effect change is to vote with your feet. If the bars without drink minimums continue to out perform the ones with drink minimums then things will change. It is a basic tenant of business that there is competition. Of course, this requires a rational consumer. If the consumer is of the mind that they can dictate to others consumers what is "chump change" or not then they will act in what can be considered by some to be an irrational manner.

Glad you made the right call for you and had a great time Hope they don't move the drink limit to forty drinks. Even so, there will be at least one individual that is in their element in that environment.

Just spent a night there staying at Old Inn on the Udon Thani naughty street.

Must say I was way more pleased than the previous reports from months back had encountered.

The area has picked up quite a bit along the street, tho the Night and Day bars are IMO to be avoided.

At three of the Night and Day bars I found some very nice ladies, under 25, that I wanted to take home for overnight.

But in all three places I turned and walked due to the stupid games being played, their loss.

It was 11:30 pm, with the bars having to close by 12:00 as it was a Buddha day the next day.

Yet they all demanded a three drink minimum before the girls could leave.

I would have happily bought one to chat and suss out the girl, but when they said that and wouldn't budge, well I left on the principle of it.

There were plenty of other bars out along the street with very doable girls and no stupid minimum drinks games.

Back near my hotel along both sides down to N&D, then past N&D, there were 3-4 more bars on and back from the corner.

Amongst them I spotted at least 10 prospects, tho when I left N&D disillusioned, many of them were already snapped up or gone.

Picked up a tall, rounded, newbie 21 yo from Hug Bar, an OK looker, tho sadly wouldn't bareback as I found out later, but the rest of her service was great.

The best bit was she had youthful, all natural, pear drop the cups, that just loved attention, which I gave them plenty of.

Was in Udon Thani for a while recently and hung out at Country Bar several times. Country Bar is located almost directly across the street from ATM bar.

There are two younger Lao cuties that work there full time. One in her mid 20's and one is 30 years old. They usually both begin working at 11 am. You will know them when you see them. They both offer very good service.

At Country Bar there are no games. No minimum number of lady drinks to purchase. The ladies are instructed by the boss not to ask customers to buy them drinks, which is a business model I wish more bars in UT would adopt. Bar fine is 500. You can bar fine and session in the afternoon, rest and let the lady return to the bar, but she's yours for the rest of the day if you talk with her. You can return in the evening and take her back out at night without paying bar fine. ST 2000 and LT 3000 assuming she wants to be with you. By 6 pm - 8 pm there are sometimes as many as 10 ladies working. All of them are very accommodating and kind, but many are on the other side of 40 years old. A few in their 30's.

It's a fun atmosphere there. Many expats frequent the establishment. Boss is a very fun and nice lady. Most importantly, there is no drama or games in this bar.
