Posts: 4100If you consider the decrees themselves rather than some of the (over) reactions on social media, Gustos and the like are being made to close 3 hours earlier than they now do. Also, as has been the case for years now, there will continue to be media friendly crackdown operations of rousting street girls and stop and frisk programs against them and punters. None of this is new, including the pedo punter being made a poster boy for the concept of foreigners being the source of Colombia's centuries old problems. It's a get out of jail free card for politicians who find themselves under pressure. I might see it differently than some who haven't been here full time for years. Even if you've never been here, just think it through logically. Does it seem realistic that whatever happens to the couple of hundred girls who run around Poblado could have a major impact on what goes on in the rest of a city of millions of people? Even if Poblado is the sum total of your Medellin experience, nothing new is being made illegal. Yes there will be heightened enforcement from time to time but that is not new either. It would be nice to see a crackdown on the roving pickpocket and stick up boy wolf packs but I'm not holding my breath.

Fuckin pedo ruining it for everyone: "The Medelland prostitution ban comes just days after an American man was found in a hotel room with two local girls aged 12 and 13, in a case widely covered by the local press."

Posts: 4100I think some historical perspective will help walk some of us back off the edge of the roof. We can all calm down and consider these points. Neither the Mayor nor the measures he decreed are new. FICO was mayor during the four years before the pandemic when Quintero took over in 2020. Both FICO and Quintero have mounted media campaigns in response to outrage when the honky tonk scene in Poblado has become offensive. As for pricing going down in Centro, I haven't noticed them going up in any significant way. Overall compared to FICO's first term (2016 to 2020) the cost of about 40 K (30 K girl + 8 k to 10 K hotel) now averages about 50 K (40 K girl + 8 K to 10 K hotel). Even though Lleras / Provenza / la 10 is a mostly nighttime scene, I think it's likely some of the providers will be squeezed back to daytime shifts in Centro because the competition will increase with fewer tourists and fewer hours in Poblado. I never believed there were many girls splitting time between Poblado and Centro until they began mentioning it to me and until my curiosity got the better of me and I watched a couple of youtube videos. Sure enough, there they were in Parque Lleras.
I don't think anyone needs to worry about Centro. Not even the pandemic could shut it down. Of course it slowed things down quite a bit but take it from me, the hotels and girls were in operation throughout. So this guy who is now being pursued under international pressure is the latest poster boy for the red line of punter behavior. The Mayor had to take action after his political enemies began to use the public outrage against him. He will be another Colombia Jake. His life is ruined now that he has been doxxed in the international press. I'm with Miamiboy on the subject of not missing all night red light district antics in Poblado. That is the endgame for any scene that is marked by flashing lights, blaring music, and international scrutiny.

Posts: 4100The mayoral decrees have immediate legal effect but practical considerations mean you may not notice anything for a week or more. Note that prostitution remains legal because it has constitutional protection. I reckon the change for Lleras aficionados will be you will no longer have to wait until 4 am to scoop up bargains. You can start that hunt around midnight soon.

Posts: 4100I appreciate your concern. I don't think it's going to be a problem among the Centro rat population. I'm going to explain why in response to another more extreme nightmare scenario prognostication. As Gabacho says, "follow along" .

Posts: 98If the mayor is hitting Poblado that hard, do you really think he will be ignoring Centro? I suspect the mayor and his boys will be visiting Centro very soon.

I've lived here for 7 years and I have never seen locals so furious. They are reporting gringos to the police now left and right. In my building, they've called the police on visitors 3 times in the last month. Locals are having neighborhood meetings about gringos, pedos and gentrification. And all of this happened because YouTubers convinced the whole world that Medellin is the only city in the world with beautiful women and good prices. I plan on traveling to a few of my other favorite cities OUTSIDE of Colombia (I'm not going to say where because you clowns will blow up the spot) where I can monger in peace and I'm moving out of the city by July. It is just too much, drugging, killings, and now the Mayor hiring an ENTIRE task force to catch gringos. No way man. The writing is on the wall. If you don't believe me search "gringo go home", "Green go" on any social media website.

Posts: 99Relocation and less scoping LOL
Those big spenders and passport bros are probably scrambling right now with their upcoming trip to Medellin LOL. A huge percentage will be filtered out. Most likely cancelling their trips LOL. Only a select "few" who knows how to move will stay and continue to travel to Medellin. This will result in driving down the prices of girls tremendously as the demands gets lower. Airbnb's around those areas and hotels will have to lower their prices. 8's and 9's girls will have to relocate mostly online or start working back to strip clubs if they want to charge 250-400 k. Poblado girls got used to getting poblado prices only a few of them will go to El Centro and swallow the 50-70 k price range to compete with Centro girls. I'm guessing La isla and Fase dos will get a good roster of girls soon. Some may go to Massage spas like loutron and New life. Casas will get mostly these poblado girls, I'm assuming. A lot will migrate to Tinder and dating apps definitely. Good luck on Gusto's though lol. Whatever happens, these girls has to eat, pay rent and feed their kids. There's no way they are getting a regular job, while Fico will earn the respect of some locals with this movement. We just have to wait for what will happen in the upcoming months.

Is anyone else receiving an unusually high number of friend requests from ladies on Facebook? Within the past week, I've received numerous requests every day. They appear to be legitimate ladies with a history of posts and numerous photos. Usually, I may get one request a week and most are from people who just created a Facebook profile.
