What strikes me is that the last few posts have been more and more about how expensive Soi 6 has become. You used to pay 1 K for a beauty, today you pay 2 K for a grandma. Yes, that's right but that's the way things go. I can't change that either. Anyone who continues to go to Soi 6 shouldn't complain afterwards. Everything changes.
Come to Germany. An ST costs a lot less there. And the service is better. LOL.

Posts: 2809Except these pictures do not show anything. On the pics the girls look youngish and probably are, that's all you can say about them. No way you can even begin to guess if these girls are hot (ie have a hot body).

This pictures show what thais are paying for an hour with a young beautiful girl. The price includes the room and condom. In the ads it clearly says that the women does not have any stretch marks and never had a baby. So if thais in Bangkok are paying this prices for girls like this, what are they paying for an average looking girl that is older? 2000 on soi 6? I don't think so.

Has that bar been taken over by nightwish?
I see some of their managers promoting it and many girls in their line up used to work in the bars near Beach road these last months.

Posts: 3373I've written this opinion before about race. I'm Chinese American born and raised in the West. I've been throughout the USA In the South, Carolinas, and MidWest, in the City in my youth I wasn't allowed to cross a particular street to go to school which was direct Even in the late 80's Carolinas I was told I couldn't buy beer because of my color.
Nearly 20 years in Thailand, maybe not to Thai standards because Thais in general especially the poor which are the majority don't see it as racism cause they aren't taught generally the real meaning of it. It is like part of their culture to think this way when it is done if you try to explain you see a blank stare on their face. In my life here living with Thais 99.9 daily interacting in the beginning never felt more racist in my whole life back home not so much today only because I've adjusted to letting most of it go but there were times even though Thais were friendly and polite they resent us deeply here one wrong move verbally or physically expect a blowup and snap reaction.
What many here run into is the duel pricing right or wrong it presents. Many years ago, the late K--g noted in one of his Birthday speeches this was wrong, the former PM, once said the same when he was in charge did that change? NO! Their Supreme Court two years ago ruled against a Norwegian case against the Thai government regarding Duel Pricing, the ruling went against their laws the explanation from the court was "Foreigners are generally better off and therefore should pay more " This is the ruling as to why Government hospital can charge you more.
Do I have an advantage at times I do and don't, I've been to many amusement parks in the last few years due to the birth of my granddaughter I do the majority of the driving at the entrance my son does all the buying so I generally pay the Thai price which is general far lower. Most visitors don't see it since they are part of the 2-week millionaire theory just go with the flow. Living here it gets tiring at times what bothers me is going to get medical treatment, especially at the International private ones. Before my granddaughter was born I went to every hospital in the area to find out what a see-section would cost, private wanted 75-100,000 baht and even a public I was quoted 50,000, one receptionist honestly told me if the see-section was ordered by the doctor then it is covered by the national health plan. When everything was narrowed down to the hospital I did the driving and had my son, daughter-in-law, and both mothers go in without and get a price. 53,000 Baht for a see-section 3-night stay. For me the worst thing a person wants when they are sick and hurting be given the " head toe ". Years ago my wife was on her death bed I took her to the Emergency Private Hospital insurance wouldn't cover her because they claimed the condition was inherited by her family while she lay in the bed waiting to be admitted the patient next to her foreigner was pain crying out they knew exactly what he needed but the hospital rep was trying to get a deposit before treatment. Today his cry still rings in my wife's and mine heads " Help Me ".
During Covid, those who were here they couldn't give a shit about us. They made it very clear they weren't going to give any vaccine to us it wasn't until Senator Tammy Duckworth who is part Thai stepped up and forced their hands that 2 million doses would be given but 250-500,000 doses of Pfizer had to be reserved for foreigners not just Americans. Vaccines before Sino-Vac sold by the Chinese were reserved for Thais, and 100,000 doses given by the Italians were reserved for Italians Johnson and Johnson W. Whether it worked or not another discussion Thais front line were given Sino-Vac that wore off or didn't work there was an outbreak within the front line workers death rate was like 25,000 a day? It wasn't until the donation of Pfizer that the pandemic was controlled when I got mine in Bangkok majority of foreigners even Chinese seemed to hate the USA So much were grateful. I felt like waving the US flag and singing the national Anthem LOL.
Racism is front and center in their policies their daily announcements are laced with old-school thinking. I've tested my theory by watching police stations, immigration, and government officials at a few meetings reminds me of when I was young playing at the Chinese so-called Association where my dad was an official when gangs were out of control City leaders and top police representatives would come and address the association leaders telling them to control your boys. Very few words were exchanged my dad and association leaders would just nod in agreement and play along as soon as they left backs turned started laughing.
I have seen these actions growing up visiting Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan with my Dad, Uncles, and older brothers it is all present here in Thailand with their leaders and their policies toward foreigners. It is so embedded into their culture they don't even know what the word means that so many practice it in their daily lives even to their people. Be glad it is just due pricing as long as the exchange rate is 35-1 many don't see it and will continue to come. Enjoy!

Posts: 2642Its impossible to be Jai Dee if you are consumed with "pay back" for a real or imagined slight. Could reflect on the prices you are quoted or the treatment you recieve.

Posts: 6198I think it is all part of the Night Wish Group business strategy, they own a big chunk of the soi 6 bars. They focus on "drinks only" venues and their girls are instructed so.

Just a continuous flow of drinks, diluted for the girls. Good for the girls not willing to spread legs every second hour. Inspired by Japanese and Korean whisky lounges. Where customers spend endless hours with a bottle of whisky and the girls pouring in the glasses. No sex, just getting devastated and drunk patrons then in the streets.
Each one his own.

Posts: 18164Definitely confusing race with nationality. I was in Kenya a couple of months ago and there is also a price for Kenyans and a higher price for non-Kenyans at the museums and such. In Peru, if you buy a plane ticket there is a price for Peruvians and a price for foreigners. If you show up to the airport without a Peruvian ID after having bought the Peruvian priced ticket then you have to pay the difference plus a fine. It explicitly states that on the website.

Posts: 6198Race? Maybe you are confusing with nationalities. Never heard of a Thai or European race. Aren't you a racist by any means to hate racists?

Foreigners or non residents are not overcharged, it's local nationalities or residents who are getting a discount on the official entry ticket. Just as senior citizen's, kids, students, maybe army or veterans too (depends on venue, country). Some venues might grant discounts to some specific job categories (journalists is an example in some countries).
I was once granted, to my surprise, a 10% discount at a popular fast food brand for being over 60: I don't think the rest of the customers were overcharged.

Posts: 260I don't know about India
But I believe much of the discrimination in Thailand is based on race, if you go to many museums and show a local ID in Europe or United States you get a lower admission fee, that is based on the rationale that you pay taxes to build and maintain museums, tourists (not so much).

And I'm still not sure how museums overcharging tourists, justifies hookers doing the same.
Even though its still racist, I think being overcharged by a museum is no where as bad as being overcharged by a hooker based on race.
If a museum posts the rates on a sign, then everyone is getting screwed equally.
Bars and hookers, racistly scamming mongers willy nilly and capriciously is much more nefarious.
Thats why I say "What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander".
Low ball the shit out of them 100% of the time.
Avoid buying drinks.
Cut the bar out of the equation whenever possible.
Why, because pay backs are a MOFO.

To XXL: you state that they made it clear that you were not wanted. I assume you mean did not want to screw you. If that is the case, what / who do they want? I haven't been for ages but it does not sound like soi six is full of drinks only girls, so what the hell are they doing there?

Posts: 720Hearing these reports of increased prices on the 6 makes me all the more curious to see how it is upon my return. Again, this will Benin August, low season. I still have a few Soi 6 ladies I keep up with on Line and they say it's slow. They also say they'll come to my loom as they did last time for ST 1,000.
