Nope if you are going on holiday to almost any city stay in the heart of it. You've paid for a City break. You want to see all the sights of the city, be able to wake up go for a stroll and feel the atmosphere of that City. Going to Pattaya / Jomtien could not be more different. At least 99% of those in this forum reading this will be going there for the mongering. But it's almost everywhere on the doorstep! My first 5 trips to Pattaya I stayed in town. Wave hotel on Beach Road, Hilton ditto, Somerset 2nd Road, Siam Siam to be close to Soi 6. Didn't much like any of them. Maybe Wave was decent due to its quirkiness and the rooftop pool at Hilton is nice though its gym is awfully small. Siam is tired and old but it's not really the point. My point is that the traffic has become intolerable in Pattaya. You talk of 5 minutes round trip. Not in any taxi it aint! I was advised by many "you don't want to stay out of the action", well, sorry, not correct. I won't list the positives of Jomtien over Pattaya as this would become a short essay. It's just cleaner, prettier, better beach, lovely coffee shops on Pratumnak Hill, better restaurants. And it's often 10 minutes away max on a bike or at the very worst 15 in a Bolt costing peanuts. Pattaya is not relaxing. It's mayhem. Great for a night out, fabulous if you are down at Wongamat Beach or beyond, but anywhere central is fine if you are young enough to monger morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night. For anyone over 45, my strong advice is stay on the fringe (and that's what Pratumnak / Jomtien are) - everything is on hand, you'll miss nothing and the transportation is quick and very cheap.

They can do both as I earlier pointed out. The same as chicks in gogos, bars, massage parlors, salons arrange things on Thai Friendly. Nobody is forcing or even suggest you go with them. People are saying that just because you would not go with them is no reason to spread a false narrative about them. The people here with the least experience want to talk like they have the most. Pros and cons. Convenience has a cost. If you want to drop some shopping bags off at your place, take a comfortable shit, or just go in to cool off a few minutes, 5 minutes round trip versus the over thirty for staying in Jomtien.

As far as cost of living, you definitely get more bang for your buck in Jomtien or the darkside, but if you are coming for holiday is a different animal. If I am going to New York City for holiday, would you recommend staying 20 minutes away in Hoboken, New Jersey because it is quieter and less busy?

I stayed in Jomtien 2 weeks ago and the one way system on beach road makes getting about very difficult.

Unless you live in Thailand or go on a trip to Pattaya area for at least a month, it makes no sense to stay in Jomtien. If you don't like the grind and traffic, stay right outside the central area where you can still easily access the baht bus or quick Bolt ride.

For me staying central is nice and convenient because I can walk everywhere and go back and forth from my room all day. I take multiple showers a day because it's so hot there so that's another positive.

if I was on vacation here in Pattaya I would chose to stay central Pattaya. The travel time annoys me. I do not recommend Jomtien to 1st time visitors. Come check it out. But stay in the heard of the action for your first trip.

Agree 100% Why would a first time visitor stay in Jomtien on a first visit to Pattaya? Stay in the heart of the action. Now if this was my 5th trip, I wanted to try something a bit different, and I rented a motorbike would I consider Jomtien. I personally enjoy Jomtien but to spend a few hours in the afternoon there not to stay there.

Most of the girls on the beach are there because they simply don't have time to work at the bar from 6 pm to 3 am every day. Maybe because they have another job, maybe because they have a family or children, etc. They don't stand there every day but only when money is tight.

Everything you say they come to be beach road to do can be achieved on Thai Friendly. I know Thai culture after 15 years in Thailand straight. Yes, some bar girls steal too, but they know after the first time getting caught it's too dangerous. Why? Because the bar knows who they really are and the customer can go back to them. Hogwash. They can easily chat with guys on an app and meet after work. They don't have to work on the street for this reason. About being sick, if they visually look sick, the bar will question them and send them home for looking like shit. I have seen some pretty rough looking beach road girls. These beach road girls are also the ones that may agree to go with one ethnic group that will remain nameless that likes to offer 1000ST but for two guys and not one. Some guys won't go with girls even if wearing a condom because they know they have barebacked many guys. That's why I mentioned either with or without a condom.
