Posts: 109Fun times at Nanny Bar
ThaGoodTimes,
Yes, I think it was you who mentioned Visa hotel. Thank you.
And I bet you are correct, probably was your buddy there at Nanny Bar last night. The older gal I was with mentioned that he is a regular customer. I didn't have a shot with any of the other ladies at the bar. They all were encircling him and taking turns at doing very interesting things with him. When the older lady came to my room, she showed me a video that one of the ladies sent her. Seems he took them all to a nightclub after the bar closed. Good for him! Enjoy your time in Hua Hin.

Might have been me recommending Visa, I try to stay there all the time.
And will be doing so in a few days time.
Joes Bar is always alive, especially when my group of Aussie mates are in town for their annual "golfing" catchup as they are right now.
It was likely one of them down at Nanny Bar too as it is his usual haunt and modus operandi that you described.

Staying at the Visa hotel for four nights. This hotel was recommended by someone on this board. So to whoever it was, thank you.
Got the deluxe room which is still a basic room. Bed and pillows are good enough. AC and WIFI have been good so far. Hotel is about a five minute walk to Soi 80. Breakfast at hotel in the morning is unimpressive, but I don't need much in that regard. Coffee and water bottles provided in room. Average price per night including taxes is around $50.
Villa Market, a big grocery store located directly beside the hotel is a plus. Large selection of beer and wine, lots of produce. Ate at Uncle Vill Steakhouse a couple times. Located in the same little complex as Villa Market. Very good hamburgers.
Last couple nights strolled around Soi 80 around midnight. First night randomly chose a couple bars, bought a lady drink each time and chatted a little with the ladies, but didn't feel a good connection. One of the bars was Red Lion bar. There was a younger, slim lady who was really beautiful who I chatted with for a while, but couldn't tell if she was interested in returning to hotel with me. And the bar was dead and lacking energy. Across the way I could see ladies and guys having a great, wild time at Joes bar. I could have asked but didn't. Moved on to Euro Bar. A slim lady in her mid 30's walked out into the street and tried to pull me in. It was late, I was tired and wanted an easy catch, so I went in and we had a couple drinks. Exchanged Line IDs and went back to my room. Ended up messaging her just before 1 am. She agreed to drop by my room after she got off work at 1 am. Very friendly accommodating service. I'm certain she would have accepted 2,000 baht, but I didn't pay a bar fine and decided to give her 3 k. Very satisfactory.
Last night dropped in Nanny bar around midnight. Started chatting it up with a very friendly, somewhat chubby gal in her early 40's. There was one other customer there who had all the other ladies to himself having bought all of them several rounds. It was fun watching all of them get crazy with him. Several of the gals were young and attractive. I brought chubby gal back to room with me. 2 k. She asked if she could spend the night. Didn't really want her to spend the night, but couldn't say no. Late night and early morning sessions were nice. She wanted to stay in the morning but told her I needed to work.
Hoping to get over to WOW Leelawadee this evening or tomorrow. Will post if I do.

Once you get out the center of BKK the roads are good and the traffic not too bad. Only issue is that there is a major higway scheme for about 20 miles where they are constructing an elevated highway. That can slow things down a bit. Just remember that HH isn't a party town, it's more relaxed and predominantly for older people.

The main thing to watch out for is toll booths and always going to the far left lanes when approaching one.
If you don't, you stand out as having made a newbie mistake, and the police are looking out for that to "extort" you pretty much for fines.
They will also demand you have got a current license (duh), but also an International Drivers Permit endorsement for your license.
If you don't then more fines.
As to renting and driving to Udon Thani, other than its a long drive, 8 or more hours, its also completely done on toll roads and high quality divided highway all the way.
An easy as drive.

Makes me want to check it out for myself. Whats the easiest way to get there from BKK? Hire a taxi? Rent a car? Looks like about 3. 5 hours.
This link seems to provide the gamet of options: https://www.bangkokinsiders.com/bang...-hin-thailand/.
I'the prefer to drive myself if the roads are decent, but haven't driven in Thailand in a long time. Recommend renting a car and driving or taking a private car service?
On the topic of renting and self driving, any opinions on the idea of renting a car in BKK and driving north to Udon Thani? Crazy, plausible, not a bad idea? I enjoy driving and am comfortable with either left or right hand drive cars, but usually choose to hire private cars for short journeys.

It started when you said in bold print. Forget about mongering in Hua Hin. Since then you have been emotive and lacking factual accuracy. If you want loud music, bright lights and gogo bars then stay away. If you're looking for a more relaxed atmosphere with less Asians and youngsters who can't hold their drink then come on down.
A couple of days ago I met a retired man from Scotland in a bar on Soi 80. A year ago he came to Hua Hin for 2 weeks and he is still here now. It may not suit your needs but that doesn't mean others won't like it.
I rest my case.

People reading this thread don't need you to explain them how to understand my posts, I've already said it two times that I'm only expressing my opinion:

And lets be honest, if you can't tell the difference between 20 and 70 bars, it makes me wonder how much attention you were realy paying.

Posts: 1164I've been in Thailand for a month and the weather in Hua Hin was by far the best weather I came across.
The heat in Bangkok was oppressive as you say, the rain in Pattaya anytime of the day or night for 2 or 3 hours was annoying, but Hua Hin had an excellent weather (It rained only one afternoon for 3 hours during the 6 days I was there). Y[Deleted by Admin]
Foreigners and tourists are everywhere in Hua Hin, malls, restaurants, at the beach, down the streets, almost none of them are in these bars. The very few guys going in these bars looked like old expats living in Hua Hin.
