    So Matt Taibbi posts this about a woman who has a bat fly into her house and somehow find a way to blame Trump and somehow got her in story in the NYT:

    The New York Times ran a guest editorial by Belle Boggs, a North Carolina author who had a bat fly in her house. It didn't bite her, but she needed a sheriff's deputy, a county health nurse, state animal control, the CDC, and an E. Are. Doctor to tell her what to do about that. Naturally, the episode led her to think of Donald Trump:

    Now this is what she wrote: After our visit from the bat, our sheriff's department, public health department and university hospital all functioned exactly as designed. The see. The. See. , a huge federal agency that works to protect every one of us from infectious disease, food-borne illness and emerging threats like bird flu, pulled through. The see. The. See. Is part of what Mr. Trump's allies would call the administrative state and is in the cross hairs of Project 2025, which proposes breaking up the agency. I want to believe Kamala Harris is right when she says "we are not going back" to a time when every calamity leaves us on our own.

    Back to Taibbi: The conundrum of the column is that the author, who wrote a book called The Art of Waiting: On Fertility, Medicine, and Motherhood, does not know if she and her husband need rabies shots. She's sure the bat "hadn't gotten near our daughters," but uncertainties reign elsewhere. "How deep a sleeper are you?" the county health nurse asks, reminding Boggs the window to act is short. Author and husband ultimately spend $600 in co-pays to get shots and realize they've lived through another experience reminding them of the need to vote blue, at which point the column is written.

    And here is his point: The real-life decision tree is simpler. If you know you're too much of a compulsive thinker to get through days of wondering if a rabid bat bit you in your sleep, you don't need the CDC to tell you you need to pay the $600, get the shots, and buy peace of mind.

    So this is how dumb Democrats have gotten. They cannot make decisions. They have to have government decide for that. The interesting thing is I would agree with her on the CDC "functioning as designed" but she thinks that means the CDC serves her, and I am like shaking my head and asking. Really? After Covid? So I did a deep dive on how the CDC is functioning with rabies.
    Well of course she thought of Trump. It's women's intuition. And the truth is a lot scarier than what she paints it to be. Trump not only is going to destroy democracy and lead us to nuclear Armageddon, but he's also the leader of a colony of vampire bats. They're turning our children into blood suckers and yes, spreading rabies and disease. Another reason not to vote for Trump!

    W/R to the miseducation of Elvis 2008, that is certainly a topic for conversation for another day. A day, I hope I never have to see!

    Your point is well made and I would add, that many of those titans, captains and lieutenants of industry, often also personally benefit immensely by moving into government jobs, even after very successful private industrial careers.

    One of the most egregious and indelible examples of this, was Hank Paulson the chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, who IMHO, took the gov't job (Sec. of the Treasury under George W. Bush), simply to avoid paying taxes. Boat loads of taxes! The irony in 2008 was that, then George W. Bush, was "paying-off/out" his banker donors, with lucrative tax breaks, to the very people who caused the sub-prime crash of 2008.

    In July 2006, Paulson, was able to dodge a tax hit of $200 million, in state and Federal capital gains taxes. By taking advantage of a (George H. W. Bush) 1989 one-time loophole, that gave candidates, in a handful of high level positions, the ability to liquidate his or her entire portfolio without paying a dime in capital gains taxes. Naturally, this was just another corporate welfare tax pretense, dress up to supposedly "attract talent" to gov't jobs.

    Needless to say, despite any Repub, right-wing rhetoric or propaganda, about only one class of people receiving gov't welfare, is all bunk. Rest assured corporate welfare is alive, well and kicking (as shown in a previous post of mine, w/r to educating Elvis 2008).

    IMHO, much like Trump, there are many men and women, that are less interested in servicing their country and more interested in benefiting and enriching themselves or their cronies (as you've made abundantly clear), off the backs of hard working Americans, they care nothing to very little about.

    This casual like disdain, that billionaires and corporate welfare have for American workers, was clearly on display a couple days ago, during the glitchy, strange, rambling and cringy bromance "interview" between Trump & Musk.

    Allan Lichtman 13 keys to winning the presidency

    In 1991, Lichtman and coauthor Ken DeCell published The 13 Keys to the White House (Madison Books, 1991), a book laying out the 13-key forecasting system initially developed in 1981 by Lichtman and renowned mathematician Vladimir Keilis-Borok. They developed the keys based on their analysis of trends in presidential campaigns since 1860.

    The 13 keys are simple to use: if 8 or more of the 13 keys are true for the incumbent party, its candidate will win the election—but if fewer than 8 are true, the challenger will win.

    1. Party mandate: After the midterm elections, the incumbent party holds more seats in the US House of Representatives than after the previous midterm elections. FALSE.

    2. Contest: There is no serious contest for the incumbent party nomination. TRUE.

    3. Incumbency: The incumbent party candidate is the sitting president. FALSE.

    4. Third party: There is no significant third party or independent campaign. TRUE.

    5. Short term economy: The economy is not in recession during the election campaign. TRUE.

    6. Long term economy: Real per capita economic growth during the term equals or exceeds mean growth during the previous two terms. TRUE.

    7. Policy change: The incumbent administration effects major changes in national policy. TRUE.

    8. Social unrest: There is no sustained social unrest during the term. TRUE.

    9. Scandal: The incumbent administration is untainted by major scandal. TRUE.

    10. Foreign / military failure: The incumbent administration suffers no major failure in foreign or military affairs. TRUE.

    11. Foreign / military success: The incumbent administration achieves a major success in foreign or military affairs. FALSE.

    12. Incumbent charisma: The incumbent party candidate is charismatic or a national hero. TRUE.

    13. Challenger charisma: The challenging party candidate is not charismatic or a national hero. FALSE.

    9 out of 13 by mine count.

    Trump's slurring, lies and incoherence will only get worse after this

    Cook Political Report is one of the more highly respected polling services:

    https://www.realclearpolling.com/latest-polls/election

    Swing State Project: August 14, 2024 Toplines
    August 14, 2024

    https://www.cookpolitical.com/survey...g2024-toplines

    The Swing State Project is a collaboration between The Cook Political Report and two pollsters, BSG and GS Strategy Group. Below are the toplines from the August 2024 poll. In total, 2,867 likely voters across seven swing states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) completed the survey.

    In the seven states combined, Vice President Kamala Harris leads former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup 48% to 47%.
    Trump leads Harris only in Nevada in these polls, +3 in the Head-to-Head, +5 in the 5-Way. This was before the audio interview of him and Musk laughing about how much fun it is to fire the American Working Men and Women for daring to expect to be fairly paid and treated, especially union workers.

    Trump should have canceled that Republican National Convention, promised to name a VP candidate "in two weeks" and remained silent and hidden in that last basement Men's Room stall he usually hides in when frightened.

    By stark contrast, what Biden-Harris accomplished in just 3 1/2 years is truly stellar.

    23 of the Biden/Harris terms greatest accomplishments.

    Thanks again, Joe and Kamala.
    Excellent Resumes for them both!

    YES! What's not to like and love about the many, many, many accomplishments of the 14th Best President in US Presidential history. And the always supportive Veep Harris, doing her job as
    the brilliant understudy.

    I guess it good to have a boss who cares deeply for you and your career, and wants you to succeed. Verses one who brandishes you as a traitor, then tries to execute you, with an angry insurrectionist mob, brandishing a noose, flagpoles and sharp or blunt objects, to either have you hung, impaled or beaten to death.

    Harris (in the article), has done some good work as VP, on things like immigration, voting rights, gun violence, maternal health care, abortion, broadband expansion, Juneteenth,
    https://eu.usatoday.com/story/news/p...s/74534954007/

    The tone deaf people, like Elvis 2008, that weirdly think Dems don't have strong and compelling reasons to vote for the Harris/Walz ticket, perhaps can explain why so many Repubs and Independents are now voting for Harris, under those same compelling reasons?

    Harris/Walz are giving some red states pause and reasons enough for them to now be considered as new battle ground states that could fall. We are hearing from both Repubs and Dems, on the ground in states like Ohio, Texas and North Carolina, that Trump may not carry the day, in these states. And that they think these states are at worst, are "in-play" for Dems and at best are very much "up for grabs" and winnable".

    Yes, Thanks again President Biden and Veep Harris, for giving Repubs and Independents, 99 reasons, but being a Dem by virtue, just ain't one!
    • PS: Got to give Nikki Haley credit, as she maybe right about one thing, when she said:

      "Most Americans do not want a rematch between Biden and Trump. So the first party to retire its 80 year old candidate, is going to be the party that wins this election."

      We'll see in ROEvember! But it's a good thing Repubs, don't actually listen to their women and pay them lip service! (...kkkk!)

  7. #15243

    Why?

    Why do Repubs, Donald Trump and Elon Musk hate the American Working Men and Women so much?

    UAW hits Musk, Trump with federal labor charges over union-busting comments.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/13/musk...ndroidappshare

    The United Auto Workers filed federal labor charges against Donald Trump and Elon Musk for their comments applauding the practice of firing employees who threaten to strike.

    Under federal law, it is illegal to fire workers who threaten to strike.

    Trump has been vying for the labor vote in the presidential race against Vice President Kamala Harris, though the UAW has already endorsed the vice president.
    Listening to the audio of slurring and lisping Trump and addle-brained Musk laughing about this you can actually hear the delight in these two "billionaire" con men criminals' voices in hating the American Working Men and Women.

    With such terrific polling numbers trending well for the Harris/Walz campaign, I'm going to start a rumor, that many Repubs, are now are seriously considering, thinking and wondering, if it's too late, to do what the Dems did (since Repubs haven't had an original thought, in over a 100 years) and swap out Trump for Nikki Haley and JD Vance for "QAnon Shaman" (Jacob Chansley), to run a real campaign, out of his halfway house (...kkkk!)

    At 78 yrs of age, Trump has never had to truly fight for anything in this life. I'm not sure he has any REAL fight in him. Typically, men and women with REAL fight, know they are innocent of the injustice charged against them and they are more than willing (even eager) to go to trial and prove their innocence.

    I think what you're now seeing is Trump, in "desperation mode". Now that the convict and felon, feels the election slipping away from him, desperation is starting to set in.

    Plan B:
    By some accounts, I think Trump has already begun to execute "Plan B." So what is "Plan B", you ask? Well, you guessed it:
    • 1. more intensified verbal threats and gaslighting;
      2. more accusations of other people cheating and committing fraudulent behavior;
      3. throw yet another VP under the bus and blame JD Vance and other sycophants for his failures;
      4. more accusations charging Biden...I mean Harris with election interference;
      5. break glass in case of emergency and fire-up the 70+ pro-Trump election deniers in key battle ground states officiating the results, to muddy the election waters;

      AND of course, last but not least:

      6. proclaim everything else, is either fake, unfair, unconstitutional or stacked and rigged against him.
    Ergo "Plan B" in a nutshell, is just more Jan 6th type, criminal insurrection stuff.

    PS: Yes, there is "still a lot of time left" (as you've said), for Trumps lies, bullying, pretenses and QAnon/MAGA shenanigans of desperation!

    (...kkkk!) Sure dude, if that's what you think you were saying. Frankly, your culture war rhetoric and percentages of what you think is someone racial or ethnic make up, is just nonsense. Pure Rubbish!

    Hey Elvis 2008, I also did NOT mention that Looney Tunes characters like, Buggs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Wile E. Coyote, The Road Runner and good ol' apple pie & ice cream, are American. But they are 100% American.

    So what exactly is the culture war point you're trying to make?

    But beyond the arguing, you think censorship is good. Sorry, I do not. And how was this correct? You can still read what I wrote, and in your case if your post was censored, the person who should want it down the most wants it up. That is censorship is but I am not sure what the point of it is.
    Yeah, want now? Not sure of anything you just mentioned. So once again, my counterpoint to your culture war nonsense, was that Obama, Veep Harris and Sen. Elizabeth Warren are %100 American. PERIOD! No argument here!

Now I just wonder what percentage are narcissists who think the government would understand their need for mongering when the truth is government is doing all it can to put mongers in jail.
    It's hilarious how you love to weave COVID in to everything...kkkk! Your answer to most everything these days is COVID this and COVID that...kkkk!

    Hey, weave whatever COVID narrative, into your gish gallop viewpoints about governments, mongerers, self-loathing and culture wars purple dinosaurs, if it helps you sleep at nights. Pray at the alter of COVID and worship the gods of Coronavirus, if it brings you peace. But your COVID rants, have always been just more gish gallop, to me.

    Yeah, you're just such a censorship rebel without a pause. Well fell free to show us, how you make your own rules and follow no one rules but your own. Be a good censorship rebel why don't you, and show us how much of a censorship rebel you are?

    But given all your ISG admin censorship gish gallop and misplaced rage has been, I don't recall even a peep outta your censorship-ass, when REAL censorship has taken place in any of your book burning / book banning Repub ruby red states. Not a freakin' peep! So please spare me your self-righteous indignation about "ISG censorship"!

    (...kkkk!) Sure Elvis 2008...sure! And I'm sure that's what the big banks, big corporations and GM told themselves back in 2008, right!
    • Let take a look at a history of Repubs and Dems being "taken care" of by U.S. government bailout of American corporations (and one city), calculated in 2008 dollars:

      --Penn Central Railroad, 1970 ($3.3 billion), Lockheed 1971 ($1.4 billion),
      --Franklin National Bank 1974 ($7.8 billion), New York 1975 ($9.6 billion),
      --Chrysler 1980 ($4.0 billion), Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company 1985 ($9.5 billion),
      --Savings & Loan 1989 ($293.3 billion), Airline Industry 2001 ($18.6.3 billion),
      -- Bear Stearns 2008 ($30 billion), Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac 2008 ($400 billion),
      --American International Group (A.I.G.) 2008 ($180 billion), Auto Industry 2008 ($25 billion),
      --Troubled Asset Relief Program 2008 ($700 billion), Citigroup 2008 ($280 billion),
      --Bank of America 2009 ($142.2 billion)
    Sure Elvis 2008...sure!
