No doubt, I don't know if I would be comfortable even though I do believe that the crime issue especially in Medellin versus Cali is slightly overblown.

I actually feel much safer in the barrio than I do in Centro. I've never seen a snatch and grab in the barrio can't say the same about centro LOL. Also centro has alot more noise from people cars and busses. The barrio is much quieter except for ocasional dog barking and roosters crowing in the mornings.

Also the climate is noticeably cooler up in santo domingo too. Easily between 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the temperature in Centro. I don't know how many times I'll leave my place and it's chilly so I put on a hoodie and when I get down to Centro I need to take it off. Sometimes at night it can be downright cold to the point where you need an electric space heater or a heavy blanket. Definitely alot cooler than Cali. I've been to Cali twice and both times it felt warmer than what I'm used to in Medellin.

I then Messaged the perdon who posted the advertisement and then she gave me her WhatsApp number where she showed me more pictures and details of the apartment. It's a 2 bedroom by the way not a shack as some idiots think, although it does have a tin metal roof.

Anyways my rent was originally $500,000 COP a month back in 2022 and the deposit was $150,000. I plugged the address into Google maps and it showed me how to get there taking the metro to Acevedo station and then the metro cable to santo domingo station and then about 15 mins walking thru the barrios.

I showed up with my 650 mil pesos in hand and she had me sign a lease and gave me the keys right then and there after she showed me the place and I liked it.

It's actually somewhat expensive for the area. Other apartments in my barrio go for like 400 mil but with utilities separate. With mine the utilitied are included and paid for by the owner. The electricity is prepaid which means I have a little white box that I have to enter codes into to add KWh to the meter but the owner puts 50 mil on it each month and also it comes with a subsidy of about 100 kWh free per month along with the amount that the 50 mil pesos gets. She also pays the EPM acueducto bill and there is a gas line that I use for my stove. $540 mil all inclusive.

I also added an electric shower head in the bathroom in 2023.
