My take on Sydney. Visited 3 times in 3 years.

Is it a world destination punting Mecca? Of course, if you're a kangaroo, koala, wombat, never been off the island. Broaden your horizons - perhaps not, BUT, IF you have other reasons for being there, the punting scene is a convenient sideshow.

ADVANTAGES:

1. Sex in licensed establishments, aka brothels, is legal. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for; older, cheaper; younger, more expensive.

2. The other source is RnT shops (rub and tug - think BKK MP's). While there are some licensed massage parlors (above), what is usually meant by RnT shops is you pay for a massage, then, behind closed doors, even curtains, what goes on between consenting adults is usually overlooked. Not quite the tolerance of Thailand, still... Here, there are 2 types: the excluded (you pay at the desk for massage ONLY, everything else negotiated with the girl), and "inclusive" (a happy ending is included in the basic massage price). HE is a NHJ (nude hand job). "Advantage" of "inclusion" is if you don't want to negotiate for the NHJ (EVERYTHING else will require negotiations), or are shy, with a provider. Disadvantage is that a number of providers forget the initial HJ price being included (not directly in THEIR palm), so upgrade quotes can be a bit OTT as they're quoting excluded shop extra prices (see below).

I think of it this way:

SYD brothel = BKK MP (basically pay at the desk for everything. Legally, what the girl offers is solely up to her, the brothel just charges a room rate, and her fees are INCLUDED). Like a BKK MP.

SYD RnT = BKK go-go-bar, or Thermae. NO, there are no girls dancing on a stage, but the idea is, you pay a massage fee (think bar fine), and everything else is negotiated with the provider in the room. Thus, it's REALLY up to her what services she offers to INDIVIDUAL punters. A true YMMV.

In both brothels and RnT's, it's all in-call. Not saying out-calls are not possible, just not usual.

3. The third option are privates. Expensive and a lot of bogus ads, bait and switch.

Unlike BKK, SYD is an Asian smorgasbord: Thai (but having visited BKK, a bit like "bringing coal to Newcastle", "sand to Dubai", etc). Heavy PRC presence, with Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan subsets, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Viet, Indian. Some South American, a few Philippinas, a FEW European, some Australians, New Zealanders. You see the occasional Cambodian, Laotian, Mongolian, but "true heritage" debatable (if you're working on your nationality scorecard, might be an * beside those). Think KL's Beach Club (RIP).

DISADVANTAGES:

More expensive. Top of the line brothels, e.g. Ginza's, probably $280-300 AUD / hour. These will have showers in the room.

RnT's: Standard Excluded Shop rates by parts:

Part 1: Legit massage, $70-$90 AUD / hour.

Part 2: Basic sexual stimulation, usually HJ, NHJ (nude hand job). +$50 AUD.

Part 2.5: Up to but NOT including intercourse, as in B2B (body to body), oral, Spanish, Italian, cat bath, etc. , etc. Basically, anything to make you cum short of intercourse. +$50 AUD.

Part 3: Full service (FS), as in penetrating intercourse +$50 AUD.

The above are given in INCREMENTAL's for each upgrade. So, full service would be a total of $150 above the massage fee, and include all lower upgrades in the foreplay (NHJ, oral, B2B). Unless otherwise specified, oral would be CBJ, and FS would be CFS. BB's are available, but you have to look, and to SPECIFY. Like bars, best to establish menu before starting, done in the room with the girl, NOT in the lobby or with the mamasan. No STANDARD definition of "open minded", but usually indicates offers extras, and, depending on the shop, FS - but NOT guaranteed. Or you can just see what develops, go with the flow. Not all shops have showers, but just about all with have one. I prefer excluded shops for this specific reason.

Duration price quotes are usually given in 30, 45, 60 minutes, some offer 90 minutes. Certainly able to book longer by combining 2 60's. Some establishments offer daytime discounts. A number of brothels offer tiered services: silver, gold, diamond, platinum, etc. BUT NO standard definitions, all shop DEPENDENT. I'm old, I get confused. As a GENERAL rule, brothels MAY offer 2 shots in the time slot, really depends on the provider; RnT's, USUALLY one, with a few exceptions, especially with non-FS.

I visited Sydney in July and at that time the reports here were sparse so I had low expectations. After I got there I quickly found out why the reports here are sparse. Because it is all legal in Australia the reports are openly accessible on Google reviews.
