Of course it's different if you have business there, or live there. Obviously you need to be able to communicate with the local citizenry, business, culture, government etc. Or you'll forever be a tourist. But you obviously don't need to master the language of a place you are visiting for the first time, and maybe never again.
I speak enough Spanish to get me around the Island solo, with no problems at all, or share a joke with the locals or my regular of 8 years whom doesn't speak English. Besides, the Spanish they speak and write, bears little resemblance to the formal Spanish you may learn. They have their own dialect and idiom. Their text messages often don't translate, LOL. Speak formal Spanish to them, and you'll still be marked as a tourist.
I fell in love with Sosua my first night there with only "Dos cerveza por favor", along with some cash.
My two centavos.

Personally I believe that your overall experience is enhanced by speaking Spanish. Do not pay attention to mother fuckers that say otherwise. They are speaking from the perspective of laziness and lack of foresight. Once I learned conversational Spanish it was like someone gave me the keys to the kingdom. I can now handle myself in any legal or medical situation. It is empowering. An added benefit, google the number of countries that speak Spanish in the world. Learn it once. Use it a life time in many different countries.

Seems the political part was too controversial, or too hot to pass moderation, so I'll try again, without naming names.
Attempts to turn Sosua into a desirable regular tourist destination will be always met with opposition from that part of business community which relies on the huge amounts of money sex tourists bring to this small town.
That being said there are some real changes taking place to the infrastructure, and at a rapid pace not seen before, new developments, paved streets, new (thank god) sidewalks, tree planting, razing old derelict buildings, removing years of accumulated garbage from empty lots. New water mains being installed, bridge replacement, first shovel in the ground for a new hospital, garbage containers on the streets regularly emptied by new garbage trucks. Hotels and apartment complexes with back up power and free wi-fi everywhere.
A shout out to the Mayor, who's actually doing what he promised to do.
All this makes the town more livable, and how all these changes will affect the future of the town is just speculation, but right now, in spite of the periodic "rounding up of the usual suspects" there is a degree of personal freedom from big government that is rare, in this world.
For me, I like that!

For those who have not been to Sosua recently, the 'infrastructure' has improved remarkably. Streets paved, new sidewalks, tree planting, major water distribution construction, free wi-fi everywhere, back up power in the cheapest hotels, the empty lots full of derelict buildings and garbage razed and cleaned up, garbage bins on the street regularly emptied, and cleaner streets and sidewalks than in my midtown Toronto, so things are definitely changing. A shout out to Mayor Willie.
But no matter how much they spend to clean up the place, and chase the hookers off the streets, they are still left with the old problem that plagues some real estate. We all know of say, restaurants, in our home town, that just have a bad rep. No matter how many new owners come in, spend money to renovate, change menus, they always seem to fail. Give 'them a year at best before you see the padlock on the door again.
Sosua is like that. It has earned a bad rep as a notorious open air brothel, which embarasses the politicians when they hob nob at the Human Rights Conferences and such first world diplomatic affairs.
You can, as they say, put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. They'll never get the kind of A-List tourism there that other Caribbean towns have. You won't bumping into Hollywood jet setters on Pedro.
Which, bottom line, is why I like it. It is a taste of real life, with real people, who are not afraid to say what they think! One of the last bastions of freedom from Woke, and the artificial folks who promote it. It is a multi-racial, and multi sexually oriented society where all can live as they please, without Big Brother telling how they must live.
Que Dios bendiga a Sosa!

Somehow in the media the locals claim that businesses abandoned PC due to P4 P. They also have no clear understanding of a difference between Zona Rosa and Zona Roja. And obviously they always claim many participants to the scene are too young. Well, if this is not a problem then they start blaming the Chinese owners of the stores.

Truth be told, I rarely wander off the domestic reservation these days. The last threesome we had was over a year ago on my birthday. I used to have your appetite but now I have more blood rushing to my head these days, than my dick. Allows me to put my brain cells to work getting organized and not have to jump on everything fuckable that I meet. Pays dividends, now I got this take it or leave it attitude and that seems to attract more non pros than my former dick driven sex addicted personality, which would drop everything for a good free fuck! But.
I my older years I can be cool, and if I get an invite from a chica, I can say things like, Sure, but not now, I'll be around, or It'll keep. Makes them more interested. LOL. But best to keep it simple, so P4 P with other chicas is less complicated.
But I'll never be as cool as Cooiie, my friend. Get yer ass down here!

I just spent three weeks in Sosua. I used to spend six months a year there but I moved on. I had a great time but I can certainly understand why people have soured on it but at the same time there is still plenty of fun to be had. I don't take street girls so I can't comment on performance or prices by them. I'll just touch on a few things.
The police are rounding up Haitians by the truck load constantly, there are still some around but not like before and many of the ones that I personally know will not go out on the street because they know that they will eventually get picked up.
Somebody on this board mentioned that the police are now going into bars. That is 100% true. I was in Bar Central one night and they marched right in there and arrested two girls. Here's the fucked up part and I heard about this but did not believe it until I saw it. The new bullshit excuse to pick up a girl is some kind of dress code. The two girls that were pulled out of Bar Central were dressed normally and they busted them for it. They let them go eventually so it's just a scare tactic to cut down on the number of girls on the street. There is a woman cop of some special authority that marches down the street with an army of police and she just points at a girl and they get handcuffed, it's total bullshit.
I don't drink that much these days but when I do I drink to get drunk and I got shitfaced one night in Central and a girl named Nairobi who is a well known street rat pick poceted me, rookie mistake and I own it. Just before closing time I was sitting at the bar and she came up and sat next to me. She put her hand on my leg and I somewhat forcefully pushed it away. She did it again and it felt like she was tickling my leg but in hindsight she was inside my pocket pulling my money out of me bill holder. I didn't realize it until it was time to pay my bill and I had no money and they don't take cards, the **** didn't take my cards. The bartender had to walk me all the way down Pedro see. So I could go to an ATM and get pesos. First time in over 20 years of mongering that I have been robbed but like I said, I own it, my bad, whatever. Please save your advise or criticism for someone else because I know what I did wrong and it is the first time in my 67 years that I have been robbed, not a bad track record.
Bailees. This is bizzare if you ask me. I never go to Bailees ever since they started letting girls hang in there. But a friend of mine that I had not seen in a couple of years wanted to meet there so I met him there. We sat in the back section for whatever reason and when the waiter came over the first thing he asked us was if we wanted a couple of girls for company. When the fuck did Bailees waiters become pimps?
That's it. I'm on my way back to my little piece of paradise, Manizales with a few days in Medellin for some Seeking Arrangement fun. I've had great success with that but it's work but I have pulled some dime pieces off of that site but there are a lot of scammers and hookers galore but I weed them out very quickly. Best way to go if you want girls that are not hardened pros. I have a 19 year old that is hot as fuck that I have on a monthly allowance of only $250. USD a month that meets me once a week and just curls my toes with her performance, one week I go to Meddy and one week she comes to Manizales, a stunner. I have three others that I am "interviewing" for future consideration. One is on her way to my hotel as I type. Peace out.

Where best to hear to pickup at night? The bars / nightclubs or the casino? I have seen the footage of the casino at night and it looks amazing. What sort of time is best to head there?
Also how on earth do you get around? Uber is so slow Didi / Grab doesn't work here. Is a car rental the way?
Was at Sosua beach today, some incredible girls, so much better than Medellin imo.
