Santa Marta. A lot less Gringos, hardened pros, scams and touts.

The women, scams and touts follow the gringos' money. We gringos are simply in the way, an obstacle for them to get around to get to the money.

Cartagena use to be my spot. I have been all over that city, beaches and nearby islands on many occasions. I got to the point of burn out along with the changes and dip in quality. PreCovid were the best of times of course but afterwards things and quality went down. I have noticed that around the world when Gringos are prevalent in a certain area it fucks up the local culture and the locals try to emulate the Gringo culture, it raises prices on goods and services, hotels, food and generally everything. The girls are usually hardened pros and their services are usually lacking. Some will see you as a walking ATM. Now when I want to go to a beach town in Colombia I switch over to Santa Marta. A lot less Gringos, hardened pros, scams and touts. The people are more genuine and honest. When I went to Rodadero I don't think I seen one Gringo and I wasn't looking for them either. I avoid them honestly. I prefer a more local experience and I don't travel anywhere internationally to hang out with Gringos. I don't get it. The mid sized cities that are off the beaten path is the way to go in Colombia, especially if you want more of the culture and a more authentic experience. I usually spend a couple of days in Bogota before I leave Colombia because of my connecting flights and recently I seen some crazy shit go down in Santa Fe.

I am just back from CTG. It was planned to be a 4N trip, but due to Avianca madness I had to reduce it to 2N. I spent lot of time in BOG, including so many hours wasted at El Dorado. The only good thing is that cancelled flights allowed me to pay a visit also to Santa Fe.

I am happy to confirm the Reloy square is free from barriers, there is a police van but they don't play the siren (Gosh! What was the purpose if not breaking the ears of people, all people, men, women, families, regular vanilla tourists?? How could police be so stupid to think that breaking the ears of people with a siren increases security? *) and things are pretty much as before, EXCEPT:

1) There are no more clubs / bars meant to meet girls. No more Space, LDV, whatever (my memories of Golden Times date back to FABULOUS ELEKTRA, the best place of my life in the whole Latin America). Only bars full of regular tourists, good for music and drinks. This is bad. I loved the vibe of bars full of WGs.

2) There are many sexy working girls, but walking around the walled city within say 3-4 blocks from Reloy. Yes, they can be at Reloy, but not many and seldom standing. They stop for a while, then walk away, otherwise police comes to question (although I have seen that only once). Now, the way to meet girls is WALKING. The more you walk, the more you see. If you don't see and approach many, the probability to meet one girl of interest is small. Be fit guys. Don't be lazy. Walk.

3) The quality of girls (at least when I was there) is nothing good as before. I met in CTG the most stunning LA (Latin America, not Los Angeles) girls of my life! Now, most girls look veteran, chubby, silicon, just rough, whatever makes them not a model type. Say less then 5% attracted my attention, but in practice I have approached less than that. Over two nights, I remember just 3 that I liked to the point of thinking "I wish this be mine":
- 1 young apparently new to the job, who of course ran away from me (if a girl is young and sexy, in CTG she can find a handsome man who ALSO gives money. I am an average middle age guy);
- 1 model type with braces, who was adamantine in requesting condom for everything including oral (not my cup of tea, see below);
- 1 young, first time on the job, sexy, who first left me with her older friend then later came back to me. This last one is the single girl I have taken with me to hotel over the two nights. A nice girl indeed! I wish I had more days to spend in CTG.

4) All girls I have asked were apparently adamantine in requesting condom also for oral. WTF! This is new! I am not going to pay 300k-400k for playing plastic. One seriously offered to use the hand without condom. She seemed serious thinking it was an offer of potential interest to mitigate my disappointment for CBJ. Only two agreed for BBJ, and I took the second. Nevertheless, she was not good in blowing, although very sexy and unspoiled. She claimed I was her first man on her new job in CTG to make some money.

5) Several girls propositioned me with an amount in DOLLARS (80 and upwards), not pesos. WTF!! This is the best sign that gringos have spoiled the place.
Nena, what do you do with dollars?? "I change them to pesos". Then why you ask dollars?? "I don't know, most men have dollars...".
After leaving the dollar bullsh behind, most common prices requested were 300k upwards.

I will be back in January. I am curious to see if the situation will improve.

(*) In CTG, the silly Alcalde (http://www.internationalsexguide.nl/...=1#post2890538) must have given clear instructions to the police to waste time in pointless actitivities. A morning, a helicopter passed along the beach of Laguito playing the siren (!!) then broadcasting a not intelligible voice announcement with the loudspeaker. I was worried, considered the tropical rain and flooding of the past night which made the street not passable in Laguito, that they were raising an alarm for an incoming hurricane, a tsunami, a compelling emergency. NO, nothing. Later I asked the doorman and he smiled telling me that they do it often "para seguridad". WTF! What a waste of public money!

Also people from the developed western world are not used to haggling. It feels weird to them and they are used to seeing the price as the price. Then, like some people in a traveling facebook page that I am on said, they go to developing countries and feel sorry for people and do not mind paying the asking price. Even in these threads we have had mongers say, they need it more than me. So unfortunately you are always going to have people with the cheaper than home mentality, even though iin actuality, it is an astronomical price for the locale.

Most of the time in CTG now I am using Didi over Uber. The waiting time seems much less. Still, there are times we need to get a cab back in places where it takes a Didi or Uber a long time to respond. In one of our most popular dining places, my gal will not pay more than 12 k COP for a cab. I will even be like 15 is okay, and she will not do it. Even when the cabbies try to get 20 k from her when the ride is over, she will not pay it and say, "No, it is 12 k" and just give them that. The funny part is the cabbies react like they have no rights at all. They have not argued with my gal at all.

The other day my gal showed me an IG post. Apparently, an American tourist was ripped off by a Cabbie and called that tourist hot line and wanted the Cartagena mayor to verbally berate the cabbie. My gal did not like that. It was like the locals had to bend over too hard to accommodate the tourists.

Thing is you have stories like the guy Dubliner posted here and the American Secret Service where when the women were not satisfied with what they were paid, and the authorities took the side of the woman with disastrous results. So if you feel you have to pay a little more to not run into a situation like that, guys think it might be worth it for that piece of mind.

But now if a cabbie tried to say a 12 k fare was 20 k, I would be like, "No, it is 12 K" and leave the money on the seat and get the fuck out. Honestly, I think the locals respect you more if you are like that. The cabbies are almost scared if you accuse them of ripping you off.

If I went back into the hooker game, I guess than I would need to talk to the locals and see what recourse the women had if they pulled a "I said 800 k not 200 k" stunt. My guess is the women do not have much recourse if you threw 200 k on the floor and said, "Nah, we agreed on 200 k" and walked out, but the problem is even in the USA, you have crack hookers being made out to be trafficking victims and are the ones with all the rights. I am seeing Colombian women do not have much in the way of rights despite Colombia trying to portray itself as tough on trafficking.

I'm not a fan of then, I came across them as I researched my 1st CTG trip. His advice on price was to just pay $100 (usd) up front & don't haggle, if you haggle then you're a "brokie". The girl he girl he posted was a mid 30's fat MILF, so the consensus in chat was that its $125-$150 a hot one. When I got to CTG I learned that price set was pretty off & it wasn't hard to get better rates (I already had exp in Colombia, Mexico so I had a feeling that was poor advice).

First off, don't pay in USD, makes you a mark. Two, it wasn't hard to negotiate to 250-300 k cop if you have restraint, & these were the Dolce Vita girls too. Their advice is driving up offered prices for the new guys.

Look at it this way. Some guys are professional mongers and there are other guys who are just having fun on holiday. I learned the lesson when I went down for my cousin's birthday in July with a bunch of his friends. They do not go from place to place on holiday and mongering all the time, so they saw the $100-$125 for 1 hour as a bargain, where a guy like me saw it as a total ripoff.

You are correct about the purpose of this site, or at least the intended purpose; however, the videos on Mentuition merely look like infomercials to subscribe to their paid site. They know a lot of information about things like guest friendly accommodations but only offer the information if you're a paying member.

I'm glad this website exists I visited Cartagena earlier this year with my girl but saw nothing more than just BBL heaven. However, I did see some chicks that was natural and I was hoping to return back and get some content made. Which eventually led me to getting a ticket to return back here in late November. I live in Shoreline, WA and I can tell you this Auroa Ave can take you right into my city. And a couple things I want to point out I never gotten a $500 price quote from a attractive looking chick on AA. The highest price quote I got was $300 for either a bbj with full service from a smoking hot blonde or bare sex from a smoking hot chick. Druggies charge me $80 for sex. However, for $20 more I can get it on with a hot chick who doesn't get high.

There's no need to be paying $100 bucks in a garbage country such as Colombia even think about this they charge their men anywhere between $20-$25 while you're paying 4-5 times the price! Personally I wouldn't feel sympathy nor honored from a prostitute who sits in my room and whines about guys don't want to pay her $100 and she's glad she met me "some guy who's willing to pay those rates!" At the end of the day those women could careless for me nor you because their job is too get all the money they can for their padrote. Then.

My point is that if you agree to X dollars then pay them X dollars. Don't wait until you're done and make up excuses for not paying the full amount. Do you do you go to restaurants and decide how much you want to pay after you eat? Do you go to the barber and start arguing about the price you agreed on after it done? Then why is it okay here? It's not $100 bucks or $50 bucks or whatever locals pay, it's the fact you agreed to a price and then went back on your word after she did her job. That's simply shitty and inexcusable.
