Popped across the border to give Vientiane a look see. 400,000 kip (20 US) does seem to be the going tip rate for a handy / blowie in the massage shops. Kim Ho was an 18 year old Vietnamese girl and spoke a few words of English which helped. Right from the outset she was hesitant and I later found out that this was only her 2nd day in the industry and I was only her 2nd client. This made the 1,500,000 Kip seem like great value.

Returned yesterday, after a short visit to Vientiane.

Vientiane Massage Lao is still in operation, open from 12 pm to 12 am. Paid 2400 Baht (72.00 USD) for a 60 minute massage with extras at the office counter (last time paid around 15.00 USD at counter for the sauna / massage, then paid the lady 50.00 USD in the room for extras. That was 3-4 years ago).

They only had 8 Viet ladies on show, all in their mid to high twenties (maybe early thirties). Selection was just ok, only 2 looked worth the pricing. Both were mid-twenties (was with a friend, so he picked 1 and I got the other). Oh, their outfits make them seem WAY skinner and hides tummy fat.

Pay at Counter.

Room was really rundown, small jaccuzi tub, sauna room (moldy and steam was working half-ass) and massage table.

15 minutes alone in the sauna.

Quick bath.

Short Massage, if you can call it that.

Does anyone know if Bor Pen Nyang on Quai Fa Ngum is still open? Picked up a lovely freelancer there in 2015. I'm thinking about going back to Vientiane for a week or so in December, but the latest reviews are not very encouraging.

I have not been back to Vientiane since COVID (2020) but I will be there again within the next month or two.

I understand that Bor Pen Nyang is now closed. It was getting very tired last time I was there so not much of a surprise.

Kop Chai Deu is still going though (near Nam Phou fountain).

I'm currently in Thailand and I have banged alot of girls from the Isan region and even two that claimed they were from Laos. I've been asking alot of them about Laos. Vientiane is not even pronounced the way it is written, they are pronouncing it like this: Vien-Jahn.

I did report at the time, its further down the thread somewhere. I kept in touch with a couple of people I met in 2022 and it sounds as thou Laos is gradually slipping into the clutches of the Chinese. Lots of Lao girls either in Thailand now, or have learnt to speak Mandarin.

The places mentioned in 2019 I saw in 2019. In that year sittong road had many, many places to offer. Maybea couple dozen. I saw in the news the govt had a clean up during covid era, and when I aent back in 2022 those places were goneburgers. All the big resturants closed up, and half of the smaller joints were gone. Most of the remaining ones had fabricated steel gates out to lock out LEOs or any undesirables. Within a couple months I heard most of the remaining places had closed up, theres only 1 or 2 left now. Big new developments, new hotels, new clubs opening up in that area, plus govt pressure.

There are two garden style places, compounds really, with karaoke room, restaurant and open air covered drinking huts. They are about 2-3 km down Sithong Road after the busy intersection with the Mitsubishi dealership. Both are on the right going towards the bus station but before the two massage places mentioned by Negima, I think.

You can drive right in and park so its very discrete and your Mia will never find you there.

Maybe 10 pusao in each place and both places are frequented by more by Chinese customers. These are no high end karaoke places, low prices for beer, food and everything else. But at least they have bucket showers in the rooms. Pusao 170,000 KIP, I think 20,000 goes for the room but maybe I pay a 20,000 KIP falang tax. The one I had ST was well worth it.

In both places the pusao (all Lao) ask for food to be bought, and they all seem to be starving haha. But food is not pricey so it's OK. They actually have an nice atmosphere, can sit outside and drink and eat, no blaring music in your ears. Also not on the side of the road with people peering in at you as they walk by.
