I not worried now so much about traveling to MEX espec. The land border crossing into Tijuana versus Colombia. If I already down in CO I keep blending in keeping low profile etc. Ironic I was planning to book a trip to Cali this weekend. Now not worried about once thru the airport but possible complications entering and departing with their security and immigration officers with the current relations. So I narrowed down my trip to Costa Rica (too expensive flights on short booking window) and MEX. I live near and luv Monterrey and always fly but maybe? Some complications. Proly not and I have to pay $300 for flight (not bad) and more expensive hotels. Guadalajara also nice but even further down state and who knows what could happen? Best for me right now to "play" as close to home as possible with changes occurring. So just booked nearly free on SWA (points and travel credits) RT to San Diego from Austin and will stay at Hotel Ceasar's 4 nights. And with HK VIP card will book 2 nights in Cascadas Mon. & Tues nights to have a lot of fun within the relative safe confines of that magical ho palace even if paying more per chica. . Hotel Ceasar's I got a really good rate ($62/ night for the 192 square foot room). I usually like to stay in I. Be. San Diego but $160/ night for non-refundable. I may change my hotel closer in but feel safe in Caesar's or Ticuan and like that I walk to regular bars and restaurants when not having fun at HK and CC.

If there is a plan to travel to Colombia I suggest to hold off for now.

I disagree and support what Trump is doing 110%. Sending back illegal immigrants, especially those with arrest records, is a good thing and not picking fights. Like, really like what you said! Totally thumbs up. Yes Trump is aggressive and abrasive but he is also very smart, competent, tough, hard working and knows how to run things especially finances and to keep the USA From imploding.

I like some liberal / social principals and liberal leaders but they need be 1. Moderate and 2. Competent.

Well that was quick, Within a hour of Trump saying he was putting a 25% Tariff on Columbia the president of Columbia reversed course and caved to Trump regarding the deportation flights.

And he said he'd send planes to the US to pick them up.

I hope this settles the matter and they don't put a travel ban into place. I have friends that monger in Colombia and that would suck for them.

I wouldn't say there's political tension between the two. The leaders are doing what they think is best for their country and both say dumb things but all that matters is what is happening behind closed doors.

Tijuana is almost an extension of San Diego with all the people working in the US and many are US citizens. On top of that the bars in the Zona only care about making money. They don't care what you think and will usually agree with what you say to make money from you and insult you behind your back.

Remember the Asians that were worried about negative views when COVID was going on, and nobody cared in the Zona. It's just about making money.

As far as the GN they are doing the job of making the area more secure, be happy with that and just don't carry weapons or drugs and you have nothing to worry about.

I'm in Tijuana now and notice that last night (Saturday Night) the National Guard soldiers walking on patrol were randomly stopping people and searching them. They would just walk down the street and stop and frisk people. I seen this no less than 5 times in Zona Norte last night. A more notable stop was when I went to the OXXO on Coahuila across the street from Hong Kong Club. When I went in the store to get beer a group of English speaking Gringos were in front of me in line. They left and I paid for my beer. When I stepped outside the store all of those guys were up against the wall with their hands up being searched by the National Guard soldiers.

Guys beware of this because it's happening more than I have ever seen it in the past. Seems like they are more engaged on the streets than the Municipal Police.

You might try looking ahead at least 75 feet when walking anywhere. IME the military ccamo soldiers ask for ID and do not steal, the municipal cops black and whites often don't ask for ID and search and steal.

Believe me, I'm always on the lookout for them. It doesn't seem to matter.

I've actually never been stopped by the "camo" guys. They don't seem to be much interested in stop and search. I don't even worry about those guys. It's always the municipal cops.

I was stopped by the police again, yesterday, walking to Pepe's parking lot. I'm actually getting quite friendly with the police. I think we are on a first name basis, at this point.

I literally told them, "Do you think I can walk this pathway without being stopped by the police just once?" To which the guy, who seemed a little surprised, replied, "It's your face. ".

Ok man whatever.

Anyway they made it quicker than usual this time. So far, they have just been checking for drugs. No funny business. Yet.

But yeah, I'm usually going back in the early morning hours and walking by myself. I might as well paint a giant bull's eye on my back so they can see me better.
