Posts: 978Everyone said the same thing during COVID. I never saw prices drop. Read that same BS about other countries for other reasons but never happened. P4 P prices never drop and you say plummet. Plummet? Have you ever been to Colombia? Local guys are majority of all customers.

Posts: 4349I'm not going to pretend to understand the phenomenon. We've all seen it for years on this web site. There is a doom and gloom focused perspective that seems to lie in wait for any current events that can spike the fear factor. I feel like we are all responsible to help each other by reasoning with each other. I make an honest effort but I don't insist. I try to stick to the facts so we can make informed decisions for ourselves. Everyone be safe and have fun.

Posts: 4349No travel ban was imposed. Gustavo Petro since decided to send his military aircraft to pick up the deportees.

Posts: 4349I definitely do not know the city like you. Your circle of friends and Twitter are as definitive as sources you apparently need to draw your conclusions. I respect that. Assimilated or not, I will carry on doing what makes me happy here. I hope you will do the same.

Posts: 3374How do you come to that conclusion? Probably not until Colombia imposes paid visa requirement like the new president did with many other countries. But look at Brazil which is not looking too good and Brazil is a far larger and much more developed country.

According to this article the travel ban is essentially on Colombian government officials traveling to the United States and has nothing to do with gringos going to Colombia. Of course, who knows how Colombia might choose to respond or how things might shape up. I won't be surprised if Colombia backs down: https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...n-flights/amp/.

Posts: 6423Trump Places Travel Ban to Colombia
BREAKING: President Trump said he is placing tariffs, a travel ban and other measures after the government rejected two planes carrying migrants, and the country's president said he would prohibit USA Deportation flights entry.
The Medellin authorities and residents will like this. No more gringos in Medellin. Puta prices will plummet.

Posts: 43You do not know this city like I do
This is not speculation. This is not what-ifs. I've assimilated into the community, and the recent campaign against gringos for the acts of a very, very tiny few has convinced many Colombians, and I would argue the majority of Paisas in Medellin that most men who come here are complete degenerate and are tuning their city. If you don't believe me, and are committed to self-denial, then just go on Twitter, and search the words, "gringos Colombia". And I guarantee you, within just a few minutes, you will see 100's, if not 1000's of tweets of Colombians calling gringos who visit Colombia the most despicable things you can call any human being. There is your proof, don't take my word for it. I suspect that since the mayor of Medellin has created such a nasty reputation of foreigners coming that the Colombians will retaliate in a pretty serious way soon.

Posts: 4349It seems unlikely any of us are acquainted with enough people and what they are thinking to know what the "locals point of view" is. In a city of more than 2 million people it's just not realistic and that doesn't even account for the factor of individual circumstances. My personal opinion is anyone who takes pleasure in the death or misfortune of other people has emotional struggles to overcome. My advice is to not spend time and energy getting caught up in it. Conduct yourself respectably, engage with women honorably exercise reasonable caution, and you will have done what you could and should do to ensure good times. It's a slippery slope to be focused on what ifs and what abouts.

Posts: 18168You talk as if it is the everyday citizen that is drugging and killing folks. We all know it is not and a tourist that is not picking up hookers has pretty much zero chance of being drugged. Every story of someone being drugged starts off with some chicks (99% strangers) and drinking (100%.

Posts: 43As someone who speak Spanish and talks to locals every day and watches the news I can tell you without a doubt that the hate people in Medellin have for tourists right now is at an all time high. In Thailand and the Philippines, the locals welcome you with open arms, and you don't have to be worried about getting drugged or robbed by locals who rejoice when gringos are murdered. Yes there are tolerated zones that are propped up because some businesses fought back but the general sentiment among local is disgust and resentment.

The hatred that locals have for foreigners is what allows them to drug and kill tourists without remorse. I'm so tired of people on youtube who want you to sign up for their Patreon and others on these forms that completely downplay the negatives. Tell the truth, let people make their own informed decisions. If this form was honest, every other post would be a story about somebody getting robbed or drugged because it literally happens every day in this city.
2 major streamers just got drugged on stream and people only know about it because it happened on camera. Thats daily life in the city.
