Sorry to disagree with you ET, but as someone that doesn't speak much Thai, I still get by after 6 visits (been going every day LOL) and I'm having a great time. I would warn that the non-Thai speaking tourist needs to really adjust their expectations though in that they're going to get overcharged and still must smile and say thank you. For a westerner though, these overcharges won't be much. My strategy of using my google translate to ask for a girl that speaks English on the first visit really helped as the girl then greased the wheels and made the experience much smoother, and some of the staff speak a few words of English as well. Also, be prepared to dish out lots of smiles and thank yous as some of the staff will get grumpy and impatient with the non-Thai tourist. Cheers, A.

I am glad you are having a good time there. However, the majority of guys won't feel comfortable there as they can't understand or speak any Thai. Most guys will be going there with one goal in mind, and that is to fuck one of the girls there. You have been 6 times and I don't think you have even pulled the trigger yet. If your Thai language ability being almost non existent is not the reason for that then so be it. But if you are not fucking any of the girls there yet because of your Thai not being good enough, then you have just proven my point with all the stuff you just said in your post.

If you go with a Thai speaker you will accomplish the following:

1. No misunderstandings over the bill.

2. No misunderstandings about a girl that maybe will only drink with you and not go to fuck you because they never went with a foreigner before. Seen that here plenty of times. Had guys come over and ask me for help.

3. You will have more fun with the girls as you can actually communicate without using your phone all the time.

I guess "having a good time" means different things for different people. For most, it will mean going ST with one of the girls here and having a good experience on the bed with her. IMHO.

Here's my issue with that statement. No one begrudges a dude for going out and spending big money on a Ferrari. But it Rich folks were to go out and start spending Ferrari money on toyotas, then it would completely screw the market for the poor in the middle class. The big issue is the majority of punters, especially new punters can't tell a Ferrari from a Toyota when it comes to p4 p. I still think the best indication of what prices should be or what the local lads are paying. You can compare what they paid on Fiwfans, Toyotas, to what they paid at clubs like The Pimp, Ferraris. There is a clear distinction between how the girls look and behave. As as a wife of a friend of mine said one time, "When farangs first come to Thailand their eyes don't work. " And this is become increasingly the case. You see girls who are 10 to 20 kilos overweight, dark, and have a head like a Rottweiler walking down the street with punters who are in fairly good shape and not using a walker. In addition the talent in most bars directed towards foreigners is not much better, yet what is being paid vastly exceeds the local Toyota market. And of course a lot of this has to do with the two-week millionaire phenomenon. I have no idea why 25 years ago this was not so much the case. Even occasional visitors wanted to ensure that prices stayed reasonable. When I see five and six K for incredibly mediocre girls and oilies it is incredibly cringe-worthy. Fiwfans will definitely be missed, but certainly something else will come along.

Yes but the Toyotas are being sold at Ferrari dealerships with Ferrari logos on them at Ferrari prices. So a lot of people are happy to pay. Its more the venue than the girl. Better analogy is the cost of plate of pasta at Olive Garden or some high end Italian restaurant. The same product packaged differently and sold in a different outlet is a different price. Go Go girls are expensive, no matter what they look like and a street girl is cheap no matter what she looks like as well.

You have me dying over here. I say I understand that you have rich customers, but I am not rich. You are welcomed to call on me when the moment arises that you need a paltry 1000 baht. You would be surprised at the amount that eventually realize 1000 baht is not chump change.

Yesterday we were at breakfast and a buddy of mine talked about post-offering a chick 2000 baht that did not even ask for money. I said why do you give them so much. He eventually snuck the money into the girl's purse, but she saw it before leaving and took it out and left it in his apartment. Everybody is not a hooker either.

Problem is that people assume that others should like what they like and not like what they do not like. I do not like dudes, but tons of guys are here with a ladyboy on each arm. Can I say that their eyes do not work because their preference is not the same as mine? I see guys walking down the street and it appears their only requirement was for the girl to be rail thin. Not my preference, but if it floats his boat, then so be it. Yes. Speaking will ensure you of a much better experience. One if the guys had been there 3 times and still had not pured the trigger yet. Go with a Thai guy or a foreigner that speaks Thai. Otherwise you will be lucky to have a good time.

Or perhaps because they neither want to shop from a catalogue nor select their girl from the street nor from Thermae. Maybe they see a girl that they just want, they like talking and touching, and they don't want to waste time looking for cheaper girl. Maybe they swallowed their boner pill long ago and it will soon fade so they take whatever is available right then, regardless of price. Maybe they dont care about the money because, to him, the difference between 1,000 baht and 10,000 baht is chump change.

I appreciate having a good number of punters pay high prices. The word of big money gets spread to the villages and the farmer girls will want some of that money and they will be more likely to get into the P4P industry. That means more choices for us.

I totally agree with HT. Its basic free market economics at its finest. In a free market such as this, there is no right or wrong price. The actual price that the deal gets done at is the "right" price in a free market, all factors considered. And all factors do need to be considered for each particular buyer and seller even if they don't apply to me or you or a particular girl, such as convenience in not getting into a prolonged annoying negotiation as mentioned by HT. These factors change the actual price. The problem that so many people don't realize is that the "asking" price is not necessarily the actual market price. If someone really wants to save money then they can spend the time making the rounds and intensely negotiate with many different sellers to get the best price which would then be the market price, for them, considering the factors that are important to that particular buyer and seller. That's how free markets work and we can't argue with that or lament that one particular buyer or group of buyers messes it up for everyone or that we can somehow change that.

It is a commodity market and long winding negotiations are unbecoming. You can negotiate while buying a Picasso, not a bag of rice.
