Last few years I've only been passing thru via bus or plane to Monterrey / Mexico City and occasionally fleeced by that mecanico.
Wondering if there's still a relevant hobby scene in Nuevo Laredo. Boystoen? Down town? Tinder / Seeking?

Not to speak of. Some bars are now allowing the small ficha beers for the girls, but very few are taking advantage of that. Boystown a mere shell of what it once was. Tender / Seeking, I have no idea I will not pay what the girls on those sites ask.

Actually it sucks here now compared to what it once was.

After 3 times in a row, January then March then May, entering NLD terminal and boarding flight all without being hassled for permit, on 4th attempt this week in June they dinged me and / or gravy train ran out.

Either I was previously lucky or the gate staff was given a reminder from HQ to hammer gringos.

860 pesos absconded. Glass half full viewpoint it kinda beats $34 each way for 3 hour bus ride to and from Monterrey. Still sucks. I was hoping to not sign the credit card slip and later dispute it but the nice agent demanded I don't make the flight until I sign.

Agent asked for me to request a printed boarding pass from the Viva check-in staff so he could sign approving me to fly but I looked outside the check-in was closed staff left, he said no worries just use the phone QR code so starting to wonder if it was just bullshit.

Will find out in a few days if they make a big deal about handing in same permit when arriving back to NLD airport.

What exactly are they charging you 860 pesos for? A new permit? One time I flew to Mexico City to Medellin Colombia. They told me the permit that Nuevo laredo gave me was good only for flights inside the country because I got it at a land entry. They made me buy a new permit to board the plane to Medellin. This I can understand but in your case you got you permit in Nuevo laredo. You are flying from the airport in Nuevo laredo to a city in the country. Am I missing something?

Also how long did all this take for you to be able to fly? Mexico City airport is big and I was already at my gate had to go all the way back down to the lower level and I missed my flight. Had to buy a new ticket.

Two for two in 2025 so far.

Traveling to Mexico City in years past flying out of NLD airport was somewhat of a hassle and raised unwanted attention. It was easier (in my silly head) to take a bus to Monterrey and fly out of MTY to get to Mexico City.

In year's past, flying out involves negotiating with a cab to get from Centro to the aeropuerto, then to enter the terminal you have to show Migracion staffer your FMM card and they make up lame excuses why your card might not be valid and have to pay fine / fees whatever.

Then in years past heading back to NLD at arrival / baggage the same Migracion staffer collects your FMM card. Then the fun of ordering a taxi at taxi stand.

After much math, $35 bus ride each way to from Monterrey, another $10 bus from Monterrey's center to their airport, plus sometimes a hotel $25-40 night, plus nothing fun to do in Monterrey, just added up and decided next trip to CDMX to cut out Monterrey as getting less and less relevant. Worst case if they charge me the $43 FMM then damnit it is what it is.

Present day: Fill out FMM online, print out keep with me. Allegedly need to get this stamped at Nuevo aduana but took my chances. Nuevo now served by Uber knockoff DiDi easy ride from Centro to NLD airport. At airport just showed US passport and Viva boarding pass, no Migracion agent hassling me, made my flight.

Returning: Plane landed, expected a Migracion agent there to demand an approved FMM card I didn't have and fine me heavily. Nope. Walked into baggage area, no agents messing with us, I walked out of airport no further questions. The DiDi app gives hassles about picking up directly at airport so just walk 5 minutes to edge of highway and order ride and a group of bored DiDi drivers who know the arriving flight schedule will pick you up in 30 seconds.

Entire trip was never asked to show my FMM printout. I know I'm only 1 for 1 but this seems way more sensible than utilizing Monterrey as a fifth wheel, cut out the 5th wheel and go direct to Mexico City.

I came across yesterday, (Saturday) by vehicle, and was not questioned at all. I have not spoken with anyone that crossed recently by foot, so I don't know about that aspect.

Both Reynosa and Nuevo Laredo have added a new process at their bridges. On the Mex side, there is a new exit procedure where Mex National Guard troops frisk EVERY vehicle moments before you pay the bridge toll. Essentiallyna mandatory secondary inspection before you get to the first inspection. There's no bay spaces for them to do this so they just do it in lane.

Bridge wait stretching several miles. What used to be a 20 minute wait now taking well over 2. 5 hours. Not sure if this new process is being done at the request of DJT but there has got to be a better more streamlined way to do this..

Federal forces are stepping up actions in Nuevo Laredo and along the border as part of the agreement between the governments of Mexico to combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking, especially fentanyl.

These actions are taking place along the border between Mexico and the United States; since this week, elements of the National Guard are operating in the south-north lanes, before reaching the toll booths on the Juárez-Lincoln Bridge, also known as Bridge 2, which connects the cities of Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, Texas.

Went in January no issues going or coming back. Just flew out again Friday no hassles, knock on wood no issues when I return next Friday. Just remember Viva uses the new CDMX airport coded NLU and required a 1 hour bus ride into town but you can't beat it.

Taxis lined up at the airport when you arrive? Yeah I know it's an hour to Roma. I believe there are buses at the terminal. I have a woman friend who offered to pick me up but I rather figure things out because I'm not going to notify her every time I come to CDMX if I start going consistently like I used too.

Any issues crossing from laredo to Nuevo laredo and going to the airport and returning back to laredo from the Nuevo laredo airport. I've always flew from Monterrey to Mexico City but since I now live in laredo using the Nuevo laredo airport would be more convenient. It's just that I've never traveled that far into Nuevo laredo. Normally I just cross and get a taxi to the bus station.

I cross quite often and have no idea, must have been a one time or just an occasional thing. There are certain times, that the bridge does get full with long wait times, early evenings usually and is not uncommon. A few weeks ago in Reynosa I gave up and drove east to a nearby town with it's own bridge, no congestion.

Wondering if Colombia Bridge any better.

Avoid taking personal car if you know of a long term parking option in Laredo TX.

I am in MTY now and I also was figuring out how much I am spending; it is way more than what I spend in CDMX. I have so much fun in CDMX. Monterrey is getting crazy expensive, honestly it is just not worth anymore and Monterrey gets boring fast.

I love CDMX, the food and girls are the best.
