Sure MTY convenient but yeah the fun areas aren't in the best part of town.

I would never discourage any one from going to MTY, but a lot of the recent reports are great, but for the most part these places are very low end. Elvis report was correct, and I have talked about MTY being the long game. These places that the guys are just not good for the most part and in bad areas. The chances are very slim you will find anything decent. I just want to set the record straight.

Also, I mentioned in my previous repost MTY is very expensive now. Both Uber and Diddy suck in MTY, also can be very expensive.

As far as hot chicks, they are there, but most do not need foreign dudes, there are lots of Mexican guys that have money in MTY now, all that can change with the changing economy. SA is tough in MTY now and the clubs are just not good and low-end. If you want Night life stick with Tijuana or GDL.

I been to MTY over 100 times and is just not that good anymore. I am Killing it CDMX. Way better quality and is cheaper then MTY for me now.

If you buy from the kiosk inside the airport, the fare to the Centro region is 550. Pick a company, the kiosk prints a receipt. Take that to the taxi area. Each company has a sign showing their pickup area.

Arrived last night in Monterrey. I got to the taxi stand around 7:30 pm. Taxi to Centro (Galeria Plaza Hotel) was 700 pesos. Yeah, I felt like I was in Tijuana all over again. I asked "por Que no 500? No. 700. Ok whatever. After getting into the taxi, we take a loop around the airport to a booth that collects the 700 pesos. This took a painful 20 min because there was a lot of traffic and construction around the airport. Finally, 30 min to Galeria Plaza.

Hotel is really nice, clean, room was great, 8th floor, beautiful ceiling window with a great view of the city. The gym is in great shape, great view of the surrounding mountains. I had a late dinner / desert in the restaurant, again no complaints.

This morning I took my recon walk in search of coffee and ATM. The surrounding area felt like I was walking in the not so pretty part of downtown LOS Angeles. Tagged on an extra day to a business trip and flew into MTY 2/28. Landed about 10 am, took about 15 minutes to clear customs. Taxi to Hotel 500 and it was.

Too early for the room to be ready, so check my bag and walk to Samaras.

Thanks for the info CTX. I paid almost as much for the short term uncomfortable sex stall than the chica. If I can book an upstairs room for 1-3 hours flat rate and bring chicas up that would be great.

I do have more budget but searching for that best value option in MTY for strip clubs like at Hong Kong / Cascadas Tijuana where a buy the room for daily rates. If more time I explore SW action and book at Hotel Arteaga or similar. For shorter trips the MPs just fine and great value. .

Taxi franchises in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Tijuana have contracts with cities and pay big bucks for exclusive pick up at the airport; delivery is OK but not pick up. They would never let UBER driver steal the food from their mouths. UBER is not supposed to pick up at Tijuana's Ped Eat taxi stand where Yellow cabs pay for a franchise. Taxi drivers would get nasty, harass and beat up UBER's drivers and passengers.

I was in GDL couple months ago. About 200 people were waiting outside the terminal at the taxi line but there were no taxi and no moving. I booked UBER. They would pick up rides, went around around then canceled. I figured the taxi line would be a couple hours at that rate, so I walked out to the "BUS" sign at the rotary. UBER told me drivers wait at the UPS office, but Maps had nothing on the UPS office. Finally I boarded the orange bus to Catedral, packed tight with people, fell and stripped the skin on my shank. Shit.

Bus dropped us off, not at Catedral as stated and confirmed, but at a busy intersection with hundreds people line up on sidewalks waiting for buses. I rolled my luggage, merely tried to cut through the lines to the curb to book UBER and the people got hostile and nasty, shouting insults and wanted fist fights. Damn. It was a shit trip to Guadalajara.

Fuck this stupid, nasty GDL airport and the cartels that control it. I rated it very poor in Maps.

I was there a couple of months ago and I was picked up outside the door to the left and about 5 cars from the front door to terminal A.

Short answer: the quoted rate 140 mxn (used to be 80 mxn in the golden days) is for 4 minutes. The longer you're in there, the more 4 minute tabs you're ringing up.
