Well, there goes the economy. What I hate the most about this, is how now I'm stuck in my shitty job when I was planning to get out. I was up quite a lot in January, then suddenly now boom! I'm so deep in the red, there's no coming back from this. How do I stop myself from selling when everyone else is? Do we sincerely believe the stock market will ever recover from this? This is it folks. Party's over. Stop listening to Dan Ives and Tom Lee, there's no calls, only puts now *sigh* FML.
Why is everybody else so lucky but me? I never asked to be born.
It's going to take nothing short of a miracle for the stock market to recover now, it's all over folks. Mag 7 my ass.
What was it that the salad buffet guy said? Buy when everyone's greedy and sell when everyone's scared shitless? So much for that sage wisdom.

Posts: 671How does the US stock market crashing affect farangs in Thailand?
How does the US stock market crashing affect farang retirees in Thailand? It's not like you guys live off of your 401 ks or anything like that. I bet most of you have pensions, a crashing US economy ain't going to be touching your cushy pensions there chief.
I don't see the connection. You guys are really lucky to be living in Thailand full time, sunshine and hot pussy, isolated from the ills and worries of the rest of the world. As far as I know, Thailand is doing great now. Cheap girls, cheap food, cheap rent. Christ on a goddamn stick, kill me already, I fucking hate being here in these disunited States *sigh*.

Posts: 5094A lady from Catflaps told me some stories about high prices charged by the ladies: one lady will not agree to a bar fine less than 8 K.
Another lady went with a customer for 10 days: 100 K.
No idea if these are true stories.

Posts: 6685I have a good perspective on life. Does not matter WHAT others may think. ROTFLMAO!
You are right. I have built a great life for myself here. It is the best place I have ever been posted up in during my entire life and I have no problems saying so.

That is ok with me. To each their own. There is a thread for that.
Late afternoon here and where I am at in Thailand is experiencing thunder showers / heavy rain. I cannot speak to the entire US Stock Market. But one of my money managers told me that the only thing that matters is how the stocks you OWN perform. I'm down. My holdings might keep going down. But since I am not playing with money I actually need in my life, it does not matter. All a game. Like when you step out on the tennis court. The results will not change lives. Neither will the performance of the stocks that I own.

Said she wanted to do another bar fine with me. I bought drink and was ready to ask for bar fine when another bar girl asked her to play pool; she left me instantly. On the way out, I told her I will never again buy another drink for her.

Not to long ago it was impossible to get a seat. You had to fight hard to get a table.
So from now to December it's low Season. Pray for Businesses. In other words. Daylight Savings Time. Till then good luck.

Posts: 692Old enough to no better.
And fool enough to try. Actually I have always tried and as history has shown it is up and to the right for 2/3 the time. This is nothing but a buying opportunity. It is hard to do but belly up to the bar and drink the rewards in the next 3-5 years. Oh! You invest for the next 3 to 5 months or weeks or days? My bad for using the word "invest" that is trading and you are up against "Black Belt" traders. Good f'ing luck with that. BTW you can't lose money hand over fist until you sell. So I hope you aren't that big a fool to sell when the market is down.

Posts: 1212Word about crowds in Pattaya
From the few people I know that own businesses there, Pattaya had a terrific high season but it ended earlier than normal. As you do, I prefer to visit when when it's not crowded.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mother cleaned the area before leaving her baby there. As frequent visitors know most Thais are good about cleanliness. The mother should not be proclaimed guilty nor should we assume the baby was left in a filthy condition. That 7-11 is not Tihar prison.

Posts: 671You guys are so lucky
Here we are with the vix at nearly 30, the Mag 7 at all time lows, NVDA crashing. But you fellas getting to live in Thailand have it so good. Thailands economy is perfect, the best ever in the world while we're stuck in this hellhole, losing money hand over fist. So much for using NVDA money to fund myself a trip to Thailand *sigh*. How is it the rest of the world is so untouched by all this? Why is it only the States that gets to have a crashing stock market? Christ on a stick. You guys are so fortunate to never have to deal with anything bad in Thailand. I'd sell my soul to get back there.

Posts: 2035Not new for me, happens too frequently. In that situation I put money in the bin and get attention of bar maid to pay my bill. Often the problem is corrected before my change is returned. If not, I leave without tipping anybody. There are other girls in nearby bars.

Posts: 5094From talking to the ladies, it seems that customer volume is way down now. Most say this is Low Season now. But they are wrong. Low Season starts after the end of Songkran. Right now, the customer volume would seem high if it happened in August.
I discovered a new pet peeve: I go into a bar to buy a drink for a lady. Immediately, one of her bar friends sits next to me, trying to scrounge a drink. I say no politely, but she doesn't give up. Meanwhile, she's talking to the other lady in Thai, and both ignore me. Bad way to do business.
