It has been a few years since my last post. I have been in Iquitos this time for two months now. This place has been going down here for about 5 years now. Just in that last month, there has been one tourist from Spain that was killed (created an uproar in Spain and they have been warning their citizens to now come here) another family was kidnapped and held for ransom for over 24 hours at gun point until their ransom got paid. All the tourist companies now have an armed guard escorting their tourists. The city and the surrounding areas are dirtier than they have ever been. The Itaya River is one big cesspool. One the good side, there is a brand new mall (Adventura Mall) that is modern, clean, and with A / see. Things are a little bit expensive but if you want a Starbucks Coffee (which I can't stand), go to the mall. Another thing that has recently opened up is a public aquarium out near Lago Quistococha, called "Acuario del Amazonas". It is actually a pretty nice public aquarium.

I come back here now not to find ladies anymore. Hell, at my age, that is all behind me. I come here often as I help a non-profit outside of Iquitos and stay away from the city as much as possible. If you are looking for some nice charapitas, Iquitos is not the place for you.

I hope that helps. There are too many beautiful ladies out there in the world so there is no reason to waste your time ciming to Iquitos.

Entire city is absolute shit please don't go. Plaza de arms is no longer a thing ever since a major US hotel chain opened there if not long before and it was 100% gentrified.

Cuzco brothel honestly was infinitely better, by at least 5 x than anything in Iquitos AFAIK.

Only reason to go is if you are good at picking up Latinas and want to get local jungle chicks to actually DATE.

Food there is all digusting, even the Chifas are subpar.

So are you saying that the town / city has been invaded by US NGOs? And destroyed everything? (Hello, Cambodia 2007/09).

So I should just not bother and find better monging in places like Cuzco / Cusco?

But to be honest with you; I had other interests in Iquitos then just monging and that was ayahuasca and its ceremonys. But Cusco is indeed not far from where ayahuasca ceremonys take place.

4 I arrived to my usual haunt, a bargain of a little Hospedaje, after my 8 sole taxi ride into town. It is a CLEAN, air conditoned, triple room, within 2 minutes walk of the Plaza de Armas. Where they know my ways and could not care less. (Even when I had a puker on the bed this time, first in a looooong time, their only concern was that I was not sick or needed a doctor) And they even discount my room, because I am very quiet and respectful. For 50 soles per night it is, as we say, like a sore dick. Hard to beat..

Any name of the Hotel please?

The point is, don't overlook the taxi guys and the hotel front desk guys, they can be your very best friends; especially when the prospect of their making a nice referral propina is in the offing

For the record, my taxi driver has already offered me a universitaria and I have figured out that the malecon has a lot of jail bait.

Just returned from a 5 month stint in Iquitos. Rain just got to me. Too many girls walking the Malcion these days.
I just watch instead of play as too many have said they did not have their DNI. I do not want to find myself on the wrong side of the age bracket. Too old to go to the disco these days.

Plaza de Armas at night just is not what it use to be. "Traffic" police on every block these days as petty thievery is sky rocketing. Not enough jobs for the young men so they find a life of crime an easy life. A friend of mine has had 2 motorcycles stolen in the last 3 months. Of course he gets calls from people who say they know where they are and can get them back for a fee.

Its been a few year now since you chaps made these posts! In that time have things changed hear?

I mean where they real UA working girls or was it a police scam.

As for age. Have them show you their DNI.

Are there may fakes of these around.

Sorry all but this report is late. I was in Iquitos for 3 weeks in May. Things are changed in the few years I have been coming to Iquitos. The police presence out and about now. Friends tell me that petty crime has gone up dramatically. The boulevard is still filled with beautiful girls, but most are between 14-17 yrs old. I am too pretty to spend time in a Peruvian prison to even try (yes, I am being sarcastic with the "pretty" remark)..

Again; is this still the same today?

Just arrived a week ago and on that small airport a driver tried to get me to pay for a ride to my hostel. I declined because he asked 25 soles with is about $8 US. So I took one of those motorcycles with a basket for three people in the back, a trike that city is full of. What a mistake, streets are as bad as those in New York City and now imagine that on a motorcycle, a horror. However, he took me to my hostel "Amazon Within" which I'm very happy about, nice, clean, quiet, safe. The next day I followed the instructions from someone who posted here a few years ago, I took a bus to the airport, and right on the bus stop standing that same driver who offered me a car ride for 25 soles a day before, he was taking his father to the flight to Lima, so he tells me to wait for him and he said he would take me to chongas even though his wife and a daughter was there, funny. So he puts his father to the flight and instructs his wife and daughter to go home, we take one of those terrible motorcycles to chongas his car was at the repair shop and he was free for couple of days). So it is literally one stop from the airport towards the city center, and if you take a bus (naturally you will not go there straight from the airport), but from the city, take a bus to the airport, they are everywhere around literally) and it takes about 25,30 minutes, and the stop before the airport is called Secada, it is right by Honda dealership and police station. Some small pharmacy is across the street. You walk into this unpaved road and will see about five or six bordells and the best one is the one right after "La Cucarda Star", all the others are not good during the week, but that one is good every single day, like baby version of that "Las Sirenitas" in Lima. So I was there with that guy Raul, taxi driver, I bought him a few bears and a girl as a thank you to getting me there and that was it. It looks scary at first with all those poor working mothafuckas waiting in line and they look scary at times, but no worries, I was there tree times, all good. Equatorian girls, rugged and pheasant like but some of them good looking..

I told that driver Raul to join the website to hopefully get some clients, he can take you around to just about any place in Iquitos, not sure if he will do it, but if he does, it might be of a great help to many tourists from America and Europe.

If I'm willing to spend time, even a couple of hours, to find someone with a DNI, would Iquitos be worth a visit? I read the reports and it seems like fake IDs are also a problem? How do you tell what's likely real?

And what's too old for discos?
