Posts: 2035In February and in November I used the first one that you mentioned. Prior to that I used a different entrance. All were good experiences, but I cannot explain where they are. When I land at BKK International I never fully understand where I am. I just follow the signs and take the hike.

Posts: 427There are 2 fast track entrances that I know of and there could be more. The one you referenced which is to the right at the entrance to immigration past where Thais can enter using self service machines. The other is a seperate entrance to the left of the main immigration entrance which is only available to fast track customers and has multiple lines. There may be one to the right before the main entrance also close to visa on arrival entrance but I don't remember.

Posts: 2812I am allowed to use the fast track as per my visa, and it has made me waste time twice in a row. People on wheel chairs and people with infants take ages to get processed by immigration at the "fast" track. Last time by the time I got through my luggage was already on "last luggage" on the carrousel.

Posts: 2035I didn't realize that XXL and I were writing about the same thing, it has worked well for me. I've used that queue about 3 times and never had to wait more than 2 or 3 minutes before I was talking to an immigration agent.

At the start of the zig-zags to immigration, an airport representative will be stationed. If you are older than a certain age, you can talk to them about the special queue for old people. That has saved me a good amount of time. Perhaps someone else will post that age threshold, I think it is around 65 years.

Posts: 2812Not too long, unless you use the fast track. Yes, the fast track takes longer than the normal queue. I am allowed to use the fast track but will do so never again after being screwed twice already.

These are not normal times. Not bad times, just not normal. The world economy got screwed over by covid shutdowns and then got a sugar high from all the money printed to keep the world leaders from looking bad. You are starting to see things return to a more normal world economy. It will take a few months, but things will bounce back. The GDP numbers will look bad for a couple of quarters as all that money works it way out of the system. You could also compare it to a hangover. You are right, the economy basics are still good, except in China, they are screwed.

Posts: 5089In the beginning stages of a recession, there is often a "flight to quality" assets, such as gold. *If* the recession drags on, even quality assets decline in value.
I'm far from certain a recession is coming. The underlying economy seems strong, but the uncertainty from Washington is creating chaos.

Posts: 6685Thai Gold is different from Au on the spot / futures market. Tired of explaining it!
Can you back up your statement with any empirical evidence?

I'm the ONLY one that has been posting any credible information on Thai Gold. If you want to talk Au I am up for it, but bring some facts. We got enough lame ass opinions by those who don't live in Thailand plus some who have not even set foot in Thailand.
Check out this analysis of the Au futures chart using Ellot Wave:

Note the movement into the blue target area and just because price has moved into this area does not mean we have a retrace on the immediate horizon.
Thank you for giving me you permission. Do you think I actually need it? ROTFLMAO! Where did this guy go anyway? Was I real or just a fake profile from one of the usual suspects?

Thai Gold is not an investment. It is a place to store value. That is how Thais use it here in Thailand. I have only spoken about Thai Gold. Thai Gold is not the same as the world gold market. People who don't live here simply don't understand this. So don't get it twisted the next time you want to step to me with a counter argument against Au. I'm not buying Au. I am buying Thai Gold.

Posts: 5089Inflation isn't the problem right now. The problem is the US economy tanking, and it's due to total incompetence by decision makers in the USA. Unless they want a recession, in which case, they are brilliant.
If this continues, it's going to be a quiet summer in Pattaya.

Posts: 6685Inflation drives down the value of fiat currency each and every year you hold it
In the next recession in the DisUnited States of America we will witness the GDP growth stall and inflation continue upwards due to the increased costs of the inputs used to produce consumer goods being passed on to the consumer in the DisUnited States of America.
I would rather hold Thai Gold as a reserve than fiat currency.
But the absolute best thing to hold will be a property that is not in my name where I can live and raise food in Thailand. I'll sell ALL of my Thai Gold to make that happen.
ROTFLMAO!

Posts: 5089My opinion is that if there is a US recession, the price of gold will drop.
In a severe recession, cash is king. And by cash, I mean the US dollar. I try to keep enough cash to survive a year or two if all my income ceases.

Posts: 6685My reply to a 1%er who does not understand Thai Gold
Yet again I find myself explaining Thai Gold to mother fuck from the DisUnited States of America where POTUS is making it great for certain people again! If you don't understand Thai Gold don't speak on it. It really that simple.
The post you quote was dealing with a Elliot Wave analysis of the gold chart futures. Actually represents an excellent trading opportunity. Futures Trading must not be in your wheel house. When you are in the batters box and the count is not 3 balls 2 strikes You should take a fastball that not in your power zone. This applies to all post that I put up about Gold Futures or buying Thai Gold spot.
Main idea that gold is going to lose value is based in an assumption that governments around the world are suddenly going to stop printing their fiat currency (devaluing it in the process). You are assuming that around the world inflation will end. Two assumptions I don't buy into.
Russia is going to dump their gold onto the market and crash it Are you serious my ISG Brother? A central bank is going to trade a commodity that held value in the human race for over 5000+ years for what? More paper that they can print themselves? No, they might trade it for commodities (like oil) that they can trade. But why would they do that. They can print as much currency as they need and use it to purchase USD and then buy their gold with it.
If I am buying gold as a store of value and to adorn myself with it to show that the only chains on me these days are gold chains, my primary drive for making my purchases is not price appreciation.
Another statement that shows how poorly many individual who are just visitors understand Thai Culture.

Explanation of Purpose Gold Serves in Thailand
During my last trip to a Thai Gold store I observed the following:
Massage girl came into the store and sold a small ring. The massage girl handed the lady working in the gold store the ring and said she wanted to sell. The lady working in the gold store weighed it and got cash (The local currency in Thailand is Thai Baht. THB). Cash was paid on the spot. The entire transaction occurred in less than 5 minutes. And there was 6 gold shops within walking distance of the one I was in. Here the lesson ends for the day. But I will continue to teach the lesson over and over again until those who currently do not understand gain enlightenment.
Right now 3. 8 grams of Thai Gold gets you 12300 - 12500 THB if you were sell it. You can buy gold bars that are packaged and have the weight stamped on them. I am waiting for a post from a International Trick in here where they tell us they offered a Thai girl Thai Gold and they refused and asked for THB instead.
If you actually come to Pattaya, I'll take anyone who asks to a gold store so you can have a IRL experience. It may help you understand better. The core of many posts about Thai Gold that I read, goes to my main point that individuals drag their western ideas half way around the world and try to apply them to Thailand. It does not serve them well.
