It's taken me a long time to figure out the tourist in shorts phenomenon doesn't have much to do with weather. The mentality seems to be that unless you are wearing some combination of sandals and shorts you can't really be on vacation. It's not unusual to see tourists in shorts on a chilly day in Times Square. I see it as a question of situational awareness. I always wear shorts on my trips to and from the gym here. It's a five minute walk from home. If I had to travel farther I would wear warm up pants and change at the gym.

That's why I stopped going to CR 20 years ago or Medellin 10 years ago. Peru is or was great to go and never see a gringo. Or hear English. They have invaded Bogota in the last couple years. You would never see a dude wearing shorts in Bogota but now you see gringo tourists wearing shorts not just an occasional skate boarders.

As an example from my last trip to Medellin in November 2024:

Plaza Botero girls. All right around $40 k for a short time, plus room, or $50 k-60 k for short time and they paid the room, but either way, figure $60 k for 20 minutes in a short time room across from the church. If you convert that into an hourly rate, you're looking at $180 k, since the room charge is for each short time visit. Perhaps the girl would go cheaper for the second or third extension, but in practice I've generally paid an additional $40 k, but sometimes less, just depends. So figure, round numbers, $180-200 k for a solid hour of chica time.

Parque Lleras. Also November 2024 - each and every girl was $200 k or below, but never lower than $150 k and each gave well over an hour, with several of them going to 2 hours, but that was generally the cutoff.

One of the problems at Botero is that there have been a few gringos hanging around Veracruz area since the time of covid, and locals and working girls dislike and deride them. These loud, and unattractive, guys act like they are big shots. Some girls don't deal with them or gringos in general. You may want to wear a decent cloth, have a proper attitude, and look different from them.

No matter what country you hobby in, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, see. Are. Etc. This is true. <we're in it for the sex, they are in it for the money. . There are exceptions to the rule but not many. Some girls in it for the quick buck, some are in it for the long game. Some will introduce you to their family and kids to make you think they are sincere. In my opinion Bogota, my main stomping grounds for years now has gone thru some changes most for the negative. The women are numerous, 5 million or more, most don't speak English however some students will have a rudimentary form of English. IMHO Medellin was ruined years ago by Gringos, USA and Euro by over paying in their 2 trips a year. If one guy pays 100 or 200 that now is their benchmark and will think everyone can or will pay that. Bogota has entered that same situation. For years I have not gone to a casa or SE or club for pussy. For years the women I have met never even mentioned money or how much or a time limit. But with each encounter that gets to be les the norm. Years ago I saw the same thing happen in CR. Back in the late 90's and 2000 the hot Ticas would go to your hotel for 10,000 Colones or less, no time limit no taxi bla bla bla then the gringos discovered CR and the girls would talk and try to price fix now for what I understand you would be hard pressed to find a dog face for less than 100. Or more. Yea I heard it all, Its my money and I can pay what I want or the knight in shining armor who wants to change her life it happens but it ruins certain places for this hobby. If you fall in love in this hobby you're falling in love by yourself. There are a few guys on this board who have found the exception to the rule and found a special woman who is in love and can be trusted but not many. The thing about Latin America is you'll never know what regular wife or student who would never think of working in SF or a working girl house, can be coaxed into a sexual relationship for a little attention and a gift of a few dollars. Back to Bogota, although few and far between you can still find a gem here and there that has not been ruined by over paying tourists.
