Yes. You are right. Back in the day and specifically in the large soapie massage parlors, but not in gogos, there would usually be a select group of ladies seated separately from the ladies in the fishbowl. These ladies would often be better looking, and therefore more expensive, than the fishbowl ladies. They were referred to as "sideline" ladies because they were not on contract to the establishment and could come and go as they pleased, typically just one or two nights a week. I have no idea if this arrangement still continues in these parlors nowadays as I haven't frequented them for a long time.
