    Day trip?

    Hey guys,

I'm in Bangkok and thinking to do a day trip to Pattaya just to monger.

    Is this feasible?

Is there any hotel you'd recommend for a day stay?

I don't really like Pattaya itself but the amount of women there is so much more, so looking to see if I can squeeze it in my schedule.

I am currently staying in a 'Deluxe' room (B1,050 / $33) at the Queen Victoria Inn on soi 6, -- opposite Tomcats, Offshore, Exotica & Sexy In The City bars. Simple and basic in the heart of the action. Hot water, fridge, kettle, safe, TV, AC + ceiling fan. Draft beers and English / Thai food in the public bar.

My room entrance is from soi 6/1; the few ladyboys quickly learn to ignore you if you don't engage. Fruit stalls, noodle stands and 7-Eleven under 5 minutes' walk east. 7-Eleven sells 30-day, True Move SIM cards for B350 & the staff will register them, with your passport, immediately. 5 minutes' walk to Beach Road but quality of freelancers is quite low; YMMV. Can also hang around that 7-Eleven on the east side of Sai (Road) 2, and ask the good-looking girls, purchasing, which bar they work at. Some Thai teens are taller now, at 170 cm / 5'7".

Hot / low season now but hundreds of girls outnumbering tourists. Can save the bar's upstairs-room fee by walking her back to your room. There are also other properties on soi 6 with regular, guest-house-style rooms upstairs, which are generally more modern than the Queen Vic's. Poorly signed, so ask around. Bars are mostly populated by chubbies / shorties / plain-lookers, plus the occasional hottie who can state her price. Each bar has its own pricing and lady-drink policies. ST B1,500 up into the thousands; LT negotiable; heavy pressure to sell lady drinks to make the girls' quota.

Desire's live stream gives an impression of below-average young ladies. Curiously, they are the only bar with a live stream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jAr4UX6CLM

So for a first time in Pattaya I recommend you stay at Amethyst Hotel. It is in the very heart of the action near all the bars, near Tree Town, right on Soi Bukhao which you will love, near everything. Not the prettiest area but the hotel is superbly located and you can walk to everything other than Soi 6. As you know already from your trips to BKK, Bolt is so so easy in Thailand. So you need not stay near Soi 6 - the area around it doesn't have a lot to offer. Get a Bolt for next to nothing to Soi 6 and even the soapies up near Siam (Honey 2 etc) but you really want to be in the heart of it all for your first trip and close enough to walk to Walking St as you like agogos. But you should try Kink agogo and the others in LK Metro. Also very close indeed from Amethyst which is a very decent 4/5 star hotel within your budget. Have fun.

    Pattaya 5* Hotels

Will return to the land of smiles in one month now that Songkran is over! Sure its fun and I've enjoyed being there the last 3 years its been on but it gets a bit tiring after a few days and the final day last year, whilst memorable, was not something I would want to relive! Let the youngsters fight it out. If they adhered to sun down / guns down I would love it but going out in the evening nicely dressed to get soaked is not my idea of fun.

Anyways. Often rent a condo whilst in Pattaya if there for more than a month but this time have business in BKK so will only be in Pattaya 2 weeks.

I've previously enjoyed many of the 5 stars. Wave (great fro watching beach road activity) but no gym, Hilton (cannot do the two lifts thing any more as it irritates and the gym is way too small despite being close to Coco my favourite gym in Pattaya), Somerset. Not a fan - 2nd road is too manic for me and the rooftop pool area has a great view but is so small that to get a bed ain't easy, and last time out tried a few days at Amethyst just off Bukhauo which was decent enough and heart of things but not scenic. I like Royal cliff for the views and Sanctuary Resort (not 5 stars) - the great vibe of Pratunmak and have also stayed at Sirin.

Have contemplated either Arbour (which looks great in terms of rooms / rooftop pool and great gym) or Avanti. Arbour off 3rd road looks a bit remote? Would welcome views from anyone who stayed in either. Did a forum search on Arbour but one response only not recommending due to location. Would appreciate input.

They are quite brutal about the whole thing, standing in the way of your guest as you both try to enter the elevator.

Do not recommend this property. Imagine if you had family or freinds visiting and they want 800 BHT each. I was pissed and checked out the same day. So many other places to go.
Do you mean Jomtien thani hotel? Not thai.

If you simply just read this thread you would not have any questions.

Use the search function: View Talay 6.

There are a half dozen posts by me an others detailing this particular location. I recommend that you book you room through https://www.dancewatchers.com.

Ask for the deluxe cleaning package. They will even handle your transportation from BKK to Pattaya. Perfect for someone who needs their hand held and refuses to read.

Another personal favorite is: Flipper Lodge Hotel. The advantage of this place is tight security. They will take care of you as a newbie.

If you are a cheap mother fuck: Apex Pattaya Hotel. Good if you don't want to take a street ho to your fancy room.

I suggest that you put a little work in and read. If you need more handholding PM me.

Last year booked on their website for ฿2,800/ night. Full cancellation, pay at the hotel. Same dates this year same rate, on website, ฿4,300/ night. But what I'm really curious about is if there's a pricing strategy I should be aware of, I. E. , wait until the start of low season before booking or something like that.

Last year I booked in mid June for a late July trip.

    Breaking Hotel News!

    Jomtien Thani Hotel

A hotel that is still under construction but is very close to being finished. I peeped it this morning while out running errands. This could be a four or five star hotel gentlemen. Just walking into the lobby and to the desk I was greeted by no less than five different employees who could all speak perfect English. On Soi 5 between Jomtien Beach Road and 2nd Road, it is located in a great spot. You can catch the Baht Bus to it off of either of the main streets I named above and it is close to walking distance of everything that I think is great in Jomtien. While still under construction they are offering some great deals on rooms. They call them their pre-construction specials.

    Example

1500 THB / night for Regular room.

1700 THB / night for Deluxe Ocean View Room.

But this is a limited time offer. The above rates only apply until February 28,2025.

When a newbie has boots on the ground they know much more than a OG Vet about the present no matter how many years they claim to have spent in the Pattaya Glory Days ROTFLMO!

If you're on a budget Centara Pattaya Hotel about a 3 minute walk to Soi 6 at 40 USD. Altera Hotel and Residence 4 star hotel about a 4 minute walk at 70-80 USD but for a 45+ sqm room.
I've never stayed at Altera but it does look nice for the price.
The Centara is very popular with Indian people.
The Altera is indeed nice. I have stayed there a couple of times.
The downside of staying here though is, that you have to walk for about 8 minutes if you want to catch a baht bus at Beach Road.
