Posts: 803Been a Harley guy for the last 10 years or so, hence the name. Ram Trucks and Harley Davidson bikes. Harleys definitely over priced, but they are worth it if you are into cruisers and live in America and you have the budget. If I lived in Europe with their winding back roads where you can't even open your bike up, no way would I buy a cruiser, they are long haul highway bikes. If you live in USA and your going to be doing at least half your miles on the highway, personally I think Harley is the best. Indians are nice too, but when you see the fit and finish in person and the re sale value of a Harley, its clear to me who the best pick is. Harley after Markey is way over priced as well. If your on any kind of budget and your not a die hard, Harley doesn't really make sense. If you really want to get into riding and you live in USA and you have the budget, I think Harley is a no brainer. I love takin my bike to airport for my trips. Always jump the curb at short term parking and don't pay for parking on the way out. Saves me time and money every time.

What happened is that I was in the Dominican Republic at the time my iPhone failed. I refused to pay the 40% over the cost I could buy the phone for from a store in the Dis-United States of America at the time. I saw Trump was banning Huawei. So, that made my decision easy. The model I bought at the time was 10,000 DOP.Subcmdr spoke about phones - I also had a Huawei phone- best phone I ever had, hands down better than Crapple and waay cheaper.

I paid for a taxis, my plane ticket, breakfast and lunch and still had money left over. Not hotel needed. Left on the first flight out of SDQ. Returned on the last flight back to SDQ. Day trip. I did not want to spend one single minute more in the Dis-United States of America than I needed to. Fist pump on wheels up. Two arms up in the touchdown sign on wheels down. My fellow passengers looked me like I was crazy.

I am currently shopping for a motorcycle. I am a new rider. I actually would prefer to represent, but Harley Davison is selling an inferior product at a premium price. I am looking at Zontes and CFMoto. But offering ton of tech, more power AND a lower price than even the current Japanese Brands. My vote of my USD has much more power than my vote at the ballot box. I am exercising that power as I pursue my happiness.
Now Elvis 2008 and MarquisdeSade1 would have me pay more just to buy American. In the United States of America that I grew up with that mentality is in opposition to the capitalist system I learned about and then finally mastered late in life. When the USA government gives people a dollar, it is as a loan via treasury bills and notes. If the USA prints up too many dollars, people demand a higher interest rate, and the government has to pay. It is not a free lunch as the gold bugs promote.

A lot of the reason the USA gets flak is our honesty with the numbers (well, before Biden anyway).
Right now, Greece, remember them, has lower interest rates than the USA. Now do you think that is because they are a better credit risk or they are hiding their debt? A free market is based on honesty, and the Greeks have never been honest.
When I went to Latin countries and asked why they were so poor, the reason I was given was corruption. That implies it is government and not the fault of the people though. What I saw by going to Venezuela is Hugo Chavez and his stealing was a symptom and not the cause of the issue. The problem was and is the Venezuelan citizens absolutely disdain for the rights of lenders and so no one wants to extend them credit. The corruption part is the government not sticking up for lenders.
So when you talk about the "free market" and China, what are you talking about? What is the credit system in China? Is it open? Is there transparency? Would you loan money to China and if so, how would you assess the risk and the interest rate you should be paid? And with what would you want to be paid back your interest?
One of Warren Buffett's sayings is "Only when the tide goes out do you discover who's been swimming naked". What that means is if the French banks keep on their books that the homes in their Paraguayan real estate portfolio are valued at $300,000 apiece, everything is fine. Only when they are forced to liquidate the asset or the government demands a realistic valuation is when the tide goes out.
And banks are not like other businesses. If they lever up 10:1, then a 10% reduction in asset prices renders them insolvent. So for all your disdain for the American system and how flawed it is, be honest. You have no clue how the Chinese credit system operates. And you know how I know? Because if you did, there is no way in hell you would be pushing China over the USA.

After it, America realised that the world would lap up its printed dollars anyway so it thought, this is a sweet deal, I print off a dollar, then I go to the rest of the world, and buy its goods and give them the dollar. They then have to do something with that dollar and there's not enough stuff that I make that they want so they take that dollar and give the dollar back to me and I give them an "IOU". And with that dollar back to me, I can buy a helicopter to shoot down a Vietnamese. Sweet deal, no? And That's what got you guys hooked on debt. It harks back through to getting off the gold standard. There's actually nothing wrong with this, per se. But you've used the debt proceeds for stupid purposes. I've previously given you figures regarding the cost of Iraq debacle of $7 trillion. You could have spent the money on so many other things of value but going around the world instigating unholy wars was not smart.
