Posts: 199Day 1: Off to a great start
Day 1:
So I touch down around 10:30 AM, smooth trip. There's a pretty chill non-pro that I've hanging out with so I had my trusted "airport" taxi pick her up from her place and then come get me from the airport. After that he took us to my Airbnb - $40 total for that. Airbnb is in Vedado right off Calle 23 (La Rampa).
Now it's time to change money. I hit up my connect at Papi Rey to see if they were exchanging today, no answer. So I go back to the basics (Check my "Day 1" post from January) and find another guy to exchange money with in the telegram group for Havana money exchange. He says he'll give me the 370 rate plus he delivers. Nice. He comes over and exchanges $400 for me. I get back 148 K pesos. Now we're ready.
I grab a La Nave over to Old Havana and get 9 various cigars from Cohiba Atmosphere ($92). Excellent selection. Keep in mind that CA only accepts dollars. Anyway, after that we eat at Lo De Monik. Nice Atmosphere, pretty good food and prices. 2 beers, 2 waters, Piña Colada, Ceviche, Tostones, Grilled chicken, rice and yuca - 10 K pesos ($27). Feeling good. La Nave over to Imperial barbershop and get a fire haircut for 1900 pesos ($5). They always do a great job.
Now I'm ready to go out. It's Thursday so obviously it's Pazillo Bar night. Head over to Pazillo and it's packed. If you're here on a Thursday, Pazillo is an excellent choice. Arrive before 10:30 if you plan on sitting / eating. If you're just there to drink and hunt down some non pros, arrive whenever. Beautiful women from wall to wall. Shooting fish in a barrel if you know some Spanish. No, actually, it's like shooting fish in a freezer. They close at 3 AM and stay packed all the way to the end.
After getting absolutely shitfaced in Pazillo, we head over to Cafe FM (burger and Milkshake joint open 24 hours) and get some burgers, Croquetas, more beer, 7 K pesos ($18.91). Nothing crazy quality wise but it's a decent burger and great when you're sauced at 3 AM LOL. After that, La Nave back to the crib and pass the fuck out. Excellent, excellent Day 1. Let's see what Day 2 has in store.

Currently seeing maximum exchange rate of 375 CUP per 1 USD and 395 CUP per 1 EURO. These rates are pretty for those traveling to Cuba using USD and EUROS.

Templo and Pazillo are generally going to have non-pros because they aren't "tourist hotspots".
Pazillo does this thing every Thursday with discounted drinks and things like beer pong or other games. I'm on the younger side so these things appeal to me. It's a good place to start the night and vibe. A warm up / pre-game spot so to speak.
Templo tends to have a concert every Wednesday and it's a nice setup to meet people when it's full.

Tuesdays are tough for the club scene so I'm not going to pretend like I know where to go. However, if you're just looking for a pro, check out V&S after 11 PM. As for Wednesday, Templo Bar for sure. Thursday, start off with Pazillo Bar after like 8 PM and end the night with either Hola Habana (Pazillo is great on Thursdays so you may opt to just stay there, YMMV).

Posts: 7I'm currently in La Habana as well, and I can confirm what you've mentioned. I took a walk along Rafael, spent some time in centre Habana — unfortunately, I found very little in terms of quality.

Recommendations are more than welcome. I'm primarily looking for quality, even if it comes at a slightly higher price. Thank you.

I spent whole day walking in Old Havana. And to be honest I met some streetwalkers, but they were all not in good shape.
Like cheap street walkers everywhere.
Any tips for Havana Vieja? Or is it better to take a walk more into newer parts of city?

Nah, I can't get PM's yet because I'm too lazy to send the $25 in an envelope; I'll get to it one of these days. Maybe when I send the $50 into the consulate for my Visa. Two birds one stone.
Anyway, I'm in my late 20's and had a fucking ball. Not in my 30's yet but it's close enough. Read the forum and you'll be fine. My Spanish is really, really good though and that does make a difference.
Still, you'll be fine without it. Just do some due-diligence before you go.

LOL. Man. Read the forum. I hope your trip to Havana isn't within the next day or two because you're setting yourself up to get absolutely hosed.
