Is there any way to avoid reception-type accommodation, whilst still maintaining reasonable security in cities? Or am I just being over-sensitive ... and should (metaphorically) embrace security guards with their need to check IDs?
P.S. Smart-Irish Philippines is just a well-made-up front girl for her American controllers; real Filipinas never talk or act like that!
PPS: All aircon filters clog with dust fast. Blast with hot-shower spray (I bring my own shower head with filter-in-handle & 3 x push-button settings). Drip-dry, pat-dry, then re-install. Spray cans of air from Lazada can be used on the dense, aircon internal louvers. Also great for cleaning keyboards and electric-shaver foils (oil afterwards).
PPPS: Covid was a total myth and propaganda exercise to depopulate. 20 million deaths & 2 billion injured by the shots (see Swiss Professor Anita Baxas MD substack). Any claimed symptoms were due to natural, self-detoxification episodes (and possibly the media's psycho-somatic effects). Viruses have never been proven to exist, let alone transmit pathogenically.
US Army Dr Milton Rosenau determined that in tests during 1918-19 -- on both East & West coasts -- and could not transmit symptoms via proximity or fluid-exchange. The sickening, crude, early vaccines and broadcast-radio frequencies were the culprits, and we still have wi-fi & cellular: over which caution should be exercised. All 'vaccines' are poison.

The 2% cash out fee required by GC, Maya, or others is normally split half (1%) to GC, and half (1%) to the store owner (sari, or LBC, etc). By charging you 5%, a sari owner gives 1% to GC, and keeps 4% for himself.

Anyone got a simple way to cash out from a Maya wallet if I don't have a Maya ATM card? A couple of cash in / out booths asked so far can only cashout for G Cash.
Suggestions?

Related side story. Back in 2020 and 2021, when I was reporting on the ROF (Returning Overseas Filipinos) program, where the government was bringing home pinoys stranded in host countries like Saudi and Kuwait. They would bring then to Manila and quarantine them for 2 weeks in a hotel (ie, Red Planet). Then the government flew them (or shipped them) to their home city and quarantined them (14 days, later 10 days, later 7, later 5 days) in a hotel there. THEN they transported them to their Brgy and home. I was staying at 2 different local hotels, living in them, and saw the same thing in both hotels. They would bring in 2 busses of OFW around 3 am. They would take small groups of them (usually 2) up in an elevator and put them in to one room. Then two more in a room that was at least 2 doors down. There was a chair outside each door (and a long plastic screen in front of each door). The OFW had to stay inside with their bunkmate for the entire Q time. Meals were placed on the chairs 3 x per day for them. Of note: Most of them developed covid-like symptoms once they arrived. Even if they didn't come outside into the hallway, you could hear them coughing inside. They often passed their covid pcr test for release, but had a cold of some kind. It was no wonder to me why: When they departed for their Brgy together, the hotel cleaning staff would leave the door and a window open for 24-48 hours after the departure cleaning of the room (and they also lit the room while cleaning with an indigo-blue UV light), to air the room out. I, sleaze-bag snoop that I am, would waltz into the open room, put a chair under the aircon, pull the disgustingly dirty filter out, clean it, and re-insert it. Imagine being stuck in a Red Planet or such for a week or more with a window that does not open, and a dirty aircon unit that you are running 24 hours a day.
I offered one day to clean every aircon filter in the hotel (boredom; early covid, everything was shut down, nothing else to do other than Netflix). I was told their maintenance staff would take care of it. LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!

I remember when I lived in Asia, it was very rare to have a house full of healthy people. Someone was always sick with chest, throat or sinus infections. When we went on a holiday, everyone magically improved. I swear it was the atrocious air quality.
Sorry. I don't have a simple solution.

Posts: 221Mold from Air Conditioners and Illness
This is a bit off-topic but worth sharing as a healthy monger is a happy monger.
I've noticed that when I visit I usually contract a bronchial infection.
In my opinion its from the hotel air conditioners never being cleaned. The manufacturers recommend monthly general cleaning and annual deep cleaning.
If you don't clean them they will grow mold, which you will inhale.
My solution is on my next trip to do like the locals and use a fan and open window. Conversely I may ask the hotel to thoroughly clean the air conditioner as a condition of my occupancy.
I've been visiting the Philippines since 1976 and can say with confidence that the locals will not invest in preventative maintenance if not compelled to do so.
Any thoughts?
