Gogo bars in Bangkok and Pattaya ONLY close when the government forces them to close. On the contrary, pickings may even be better in a bad rain storm. Girls on contracts MUST work but wimpy guys stay home in the rain. Girl to guy ratio is favorable.

Fuck the rain. It does not matter. Buy and umbrella and a second pair of shoes and extra socks. Life, business, p4 p go on and on and on. Unless there is a tropical storm it's like a snow storm in Buffalo in the winter, people know how to cope. The only thing you REALLY need to make sure of is: "Not sure if they are girl friendly?" I wouldn't worry too much about going during June - August. It's not much worse than that at some point during the day you can expect there to be a heavy rain shower, hopefully during the night, but in the worst case lasting a couple of hours during the day, and at that time I'll simply stay inside. If caught outside in the rain, I'll jump into a massage shop / coffee shop / restaurant / etc. for an hour or two until the rain stops.

If only visiting for a few days or a week, it might be a bit annoying to lose opportunities due to the rain, but for a longer stay, IMO it doesn't matter much. Unless there's some specific activities you want to do that are not so nice at that time (e.g., diving), I'd go for what fits your own schedule best.

As a fan of the original Beer Garden / Biergarten on Soi 7 I was happy but also sad to see its spirit survives, in a way, at the north edge of the noisy neon jungle. One pool table, one bar, maybe a dozen barstools scattered about. And just a few friendly aging freelancers, no barfine required, and no lady drink surcharge. No food menu and it doesn't seem to get moving until dark.
