If you are not Latino, you will look like a tourist regardless of what you wear. Walking down the street, it is easy to pick out the gringos. Sling bags are very useful for carrying a number of items such as your cellphone, wallet and keys. I wear one and I have not had any problems so far. But if a guy approaches you with a knife or gun, it doesn't matter whether you have a sling bag or pick pocket proof pants.

Posts: 18325Can always learn to say no. Chick in Barranquilla asked me for $400 for school right as we were about to fuck. I told her we will see. Skeeted all in her and somehow she is still in school without me giving her 1 peso though.

Posts: 25Should you wear a cross body wallet in Medellin?
It was absolutely required in Philippines, I'm wondering if it's the thing to do in Colombia or does it make you look like a tourist / easy to snatched?

Posts: 24It is possible, but if you don't live here, it can be a lot of sunk time and cost.

The truth is 99% of the hotter chicas screwing foreigners are interesadas or prepagos.
If you're willing to compromise on attractiveness or age, it will be easier. Many "mid" chicas will be happy with a meal and a place to take a hot shower.
With good Spanish and dancing skills, the clubs in La Setenta on a Friday or Saturday are good.
Be careful with anyone offering you a "good deal"these are often thieves disguised as girlfriends or prepagos.
This is the less obvious issue with dating apps: a foreigner in Poblado wants free sex and matches with some Manrique hood rat. They have no shared agenda or idea what the expectations are. Many girls are embarrassed to ask for money upfront.
Her options are to slowly rinse the guy for Ubers and food, steal from him, drug him, or just ask for money.
Many will play the girlfriend angle first to see how it goes. They'll go on a few dates and then ask for a MacBook "for school. "
She sees the interaction as a way to get something.
Try talking to the 3040-year-olds or slightly thicker chicas. This works much better.

Posts: 146Gringo Tuesdays--The Intercambio venues for Chica MeetUps
Most any night of the week one can find an Intercambio (in a bar, restaurant, hostel, language school in Poblado, Laureles or Envigado) where locals and expats go to exchange conversation in English and Spanish. The crowd usually includes some attractive, younger chicas who have come more with an eye to meeting a gringo than with any care about improving their language skills. But most all the ladies will speak at least some English.

By far the largest such event (more of a massive Happy Hour) used to take place (still does???) in the Vintrash Bar on Tuesday and Thursday nights in the Provenza pedestrian zone of Poblado. I last attended a couple of years ago and recall 100 or more participants, filling the multi-story bar and spilling over into an outdoor seating area and the street. If you google "Gringo Tuesdays, Medellin" it seems that the event may have gravitated a few doors down on Carrera 35 to the Teatro Victoria. The "Gringo Tuesdays" event is billed as a "Language Exchange and International Party. " 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM.
As always, Happy Hunting.

Posts: 16Where to meet Non pros / Semi Pros
Is it still possible to meet Regular girls or maybe semi-pros In-person in Medellin? In places other than the grocery store or hooters? Any "cultural exchange" meetup events in Provenza or other places? Or do I need to go deeper in- Sabaneta, Belem, Envigado?

I speak decent Spanish and have been there before. I'm looking for a building with security, booked a good one last time- either that or Ill get a second Airbnb just for boning.
My question was about the party scene- LA 70 and other venues to meet civilians / non pros / Semipros. I'm going to post a separate question for this one.

Poblado may be full of tourists and mongers but you don't have to stay in Poblado. If you are sick of seeing gringos everywhere, you can stay in another neighborhood where gringos are rarely seen. Just do your research before venturing to new places.
Laureles is a well known neighborhood that has some gringos but not to the same extent as Poblado. I am currently in Belen and there aren't that many gringos hanging around here. It seems to be a safe neighborhood with plenty of places to eat and shop.
You don't need to be in Park Lleras to find girls. There are the girls in El Centro who can take care of your needs for a cheap price. There are also girls online who will travel to where you live. If you can find girls that you like online, then it really doesn't matter where you stay.
For guys new to Medellin, it is best to stick with Poblado because it is the easier place to stay and more people speak English there. In other neighborhoods, most people don't speak English so you will need to get out your cellphone to use Google Translate if you don't speak Spanish.
Spanish makes life easier here but you can manage with no Spanish with your cellphone. It is a hassle but it is doable.
The Christmas holiday has not affected the number of girls available online. In fact, I think that they are more eager to meet with gringos because they want money to buy presents for Christmas. That has been my experience so far.
Take care and stay safe.

Around which dates in December do things slow down? Is there still plenty of talent before Dec 22nd? Or would you just go Mid January at that point?
