This is my first time in Bangkok and after a week here I think I got the place figured out. This is my experience, though some veterans here might see things different way.

I've been to various A-GoGos in Soi Cowboy and in Nana Plaza, I've been to Poseidon and Venus nuru massage and by far the best action and bang-for-your-buck ratio that I found was actually the freelancers you can pick up from the street in front of Nana Plaza on Soi 4.

Go-Gos vs the streets

If somebody knows about a nice GoGo with a slow tempo, classy vibe and not aggressive lights and music, a place where you can slowly savour some classic rock or blues, let me know! Soi 4 - including science!

I found the selection on Soi 4 so good that I did not venture out to any other street with freelancers or to Thermae, which was on my to-do list before I figured I really don't need to go anywhere else – I have stayed at a hotel on Soi 2, so the location was very convenient for me. Now to give you an idea how good the selection is, I devised a scientific test of sorts. On Thursday night I was hanging out with a buddy of mine in Stumble Inn, which is a bar at the very start of Soi 4 next to the Nana plaza entrance – it's right in the heart of Soi 4 and the working girls were making their rounds straight below us. There is a Holiday Inn at Sukhumvit soi 22. Right across the street is Buddy's Bar and Grill and a little alley.
