I booked a flight back from Bangkok with a very long (23 hour) layover in Taipei, with the aim of giving my trip to SE Asia a happy Taiwanese ending.

The long and short of it. I didn't get any action. As for the Longshan Temple area, you can save yourself some reading and just look up the lyrics to "High Noon Neon" by Jason Aldean. That's my report in a nutshell.

Got off the plane at 7:30 pm, flew through customs, took the MRT to the city and checked into my hotel at the LE Room Hotel on Kaifeng Street. Good value for the money, but the rooms are a little cramped and it is difficult to cross the street in that area. But it's fairly quiet and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever had in Asia. And it's less than half a mile from Longshan Temple and the Xichang Street Market, so that's what matters.

This type the market was in full swing and I noticed a policeman there observing the area. I am guessing that kept many of the girls away, if there were any. On the other side of the street (the temple side), I finally saw two working girls. One looked eff-able, but a guy was already talking to her. The first night I followed the instruction on this board and checked out the xichang street, very few workers on the sides of the xichang street.
