Currently on a 7 day trip in Monterrey for a strictly mongering vacation. I am on day 2. My chica reviews for the first couple days are in progress and I will post my full report for the whole trip upon its conclusion. Firstly, a few updates on the MTY scene that I've noticed. I'm seeing more traffic and activity in the city than when I was here on previous occasions (January 2026 and same dates April 2025). This may be due to preparations for the upcoming World Cup matches in June. For example, I arrived at the international airport roughly 12:30 pm on Wednesday and customs was an absolute nightmare. I've never seen the lines so bad. There was a massive amount of people in the extranjeros ("foreigners") line leading to a 30-40 minute wait.

Also, Vista Sushi's beloved Gigi's Girls seems to be gone / disbanded. After months of zero activity on the Telegram channel and Twitter page, Gigi left a message in the Telegram channel saying she was selling it to someone and that they can take advantage of having access to its thousands of subscribers. It has since been sold / transitioned to Jorge's group (El Coach de MTY / El Coachito) with a gem emoji as the title for the channel. Gigi isn't responding to any WhatsApp booking messages (not that she ever really did to begin with- a little joke) so I think it really is gone. Prior to that one of the chicas in Gigi's stable left to go freelance. Gigi said they parted on good terms, but I think it was likely that the girl was just preparing for the group ending. Maybe it is still around, but only taking bookings from certain "grandfathered-in"/ loyal regulars? I doubt it. I am a member of the loyalty group and she still is unresponsive, but then again she does seem to hate gringos! If it's indeed gone then I have mixed feelings about it. Her girls really were exceptional with their GND looks and service, but GODDAMN it was always an absolute nightmare trying to book with Gigi. I dunno maybe her challenging personality (putting it VERY NICELY HERE) is what got out the quality from those girls. Shame really.

Lastly, Wyndham Monterrey Ambassador no longer seems to be guest friendly. It's been recommended in the past by Vista Sushi and Elvis 2008. I had no issues bringing 5 girls back over 3 days this past January, but after only 2 days here I was stopped by a doorman. I did everything right. I asked the chica to dress modestly and met her outside the hotel. I'm in my mid 30's so there isn't a stand-out age gap with chicas, dress well (formal long sleeve dress shirts and formal slacks) so I don't look like a slob, and I walk confidently. So I don't get how this is an issue or obvious unless someone is actually keeping a count of how many girls I bring. We walked in together and made it all the way to the elevator when a doorman walked to us and said I need to take her to reception. The front desk didn't charge me a guest fee, but they photocopied her ID. Really aggravating and I suspect the next occasion I will get charged. I'm sick of being cock-blocked by so called "girl-friendly" hotels in Mexico like this one and Barcelo Reforma Mexico City, but I've thus far trusted fellow mongers' intel and took a chance because I highly prefer the comfort and familiarity of being in my own room with the girls. It makes it feel more "real" rather than being in a love motel. I really don't get why we have to do the whole song and dance search for "green"/ chica friendly hotels in Lat Am countries like Mexico and Panama when culturally they seem way less prude than many places. If anyone knows why that is please enlighten me!

It is def frustrating why some hotels are GF and some not and some random. But what I do know is if you de register the girl in the AM then you are 90%!likely to be able to register a different girl in the PM. Sometimes if you try to do it all at once they will block you or say that's against policy. But if you do it in the AM then when you come at night it should be fine. Usually a different person and no record in their face that you unregistered someone in th morning. This works worldwide.

I went to Monterrey over Easter weekend after a long gap since my last visit. Because of long airport security lines and chaos, I avoided Viva nonstop flight and chose to travel by bus both ways, Tornado Bus on the outbound ($100 fare) and Omni VIP on the return ($80 fare), both were overnight trips that helped me save time and maximize my stay. One unexpected crap was that Mexico immigration at the Neuvo Laredo border charged me a $55 permit fee for land entry, even though my visit was only for four days. My understanding was a permit fee is for stays longer than seven days, but too tired to argue with immigration as I wasn't the only one being charged. The USA border crossing (took less than 30 minutes) on the return was a breeze compared to Mexico border crossing (took almost two hours).

I stayed two nights at Hotel Plaza Arteaga and two nights at City Express by Marriott Monterrey Centro. Hotel Plaza Arteaga was surprisingly clean and modern for a two star hotel, with an on site restaurant, priced at about $50 per night (breakfast was good but not included), the rooms are dim with blue lights on the floor like a love motel, lacked proper work desk, the area was rundown and felt rough but safe during the day, never ventured out walking at night. City Express Marriott Centro, at around $100 per night with breakfast included is a solid business hotel in downtown business district, good bed, desk and bathroom, safe both during day and night, no complaints whatsoever. Both hotels have nearby ATMs and convenience stores. None of the ATMs in this city took my Capital One debit card, but Chase debit card worked here.

Easter weekend turned out to be one of the worst times to visit Monterrey. Many regular Depas and establishments were closed, relocated, or operating with limited hours and girls. Still I managed to discover a few new spots while walking around and searching for familiar ones. One place I had particularly good luck with was a Depa on C Manuel Doblado 1148, right next to Depa 4 (1142 C Manuel Doblado). I had five sessions there, three different girls over three days and wasn't disappointed, paying around 800-900 pesos for an hour. I checked out Tokya Men Spa on Reforma 533 oriente, and a few other Masajes Deseo, Samaras and Casitas nearby, some quoting me tips more than the session fees, wasn't convinced I would get good service. Cleops was closed for the Easter weekend. I also checked out Matehuala nightclub, but a couple of good looking ones were with other guys, and the remaining ones weren't appealing.

Most regular massage spots were also closed or had limited availability due to Easter weekend. The only one I could visit was Mandala Spa, located a bit farther out near Campestre Mederos (Uber ride alone 200 pesos each way). I paid 1200 pesos for a 90-minute massage, it was average standard massage, I've had better in Tijuana for less. On the food side, I tried a few restaurants besides the ones in my hotel, Vegan Munch in Centro, Tea & Masala in Plaza Nuevo Sur mall, Hare Krishna in Barrio Antiguo. I checked out Lords Spa in Barrio Antiguo during closing time, they offer Tantra massage for 1800 pesos for an hour, will try that next time if I make it back here.

Overall the trip was okay across the border, closest big city in Mexico from me. It would have been much better without the Easter closures, long bus rides, and the unexpected immigration fees / queues. Considering the time and cost, I probably could have gone to Colombia for a more fulfilling experience.

Capital One debit card didn't work for me in Monterrey. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I tried using it at multiple locations and at three different banks Santander, Banorte, Banregio but had no luck. Fortunately I had another bank debit card with me that saved the day. It was really strange, as I've never had any issues using it in Asian or Latin America countries.

Even after Capital One's switch from Mastercard to Discover, I have been able to use my Capital One card with HSBC, Banorte, and if your in Mexico City mt fave Banca Mifel. No rejects or errors. None.

Will be in Monterrey this summer traveling with a Schwab debit card. Never had a problem with it anywhere I've been thus far. What's the max you can pull in pesos from Santander?

I never pulled more than 6000 pesos per transaction but think the max is about 10,000. I noticed Santander VAT fees were lower compared to other banks.
