Anyone else annoyed by every airbnb now saying visitors have to be registered in advance? I've been going to SP for several years now and this has only been an issue more recently. Has there been a sudden increase in crime or home invasions in SP in the last 2 years or something?

You better believe that crime and home invasions are on the rise in SP. Paulistanos have been complaining about it for decades and the law hasn't changed much to combate the increased crime both petty and serious. In fact crime is the number one concern for paulistanos above everything else.

May I suggest the alternative of taking your girl of the night to a love motel where the both of you can enjoy amenities such as pool, jacuzzi, adult tv channels.

If I'm bringing a Scandallo girl at 1 am to my apartment, that's not enough time to contact my airbnb host, register her and have the airbnb host sent her information to the building's front desk. Chances are the airbnb host is already asleep during that time.

Every building entry is now "biometrics" based and most buildings require each person entering to have their biometrics scanned, even if it's say a husband and wife or whatever. It's kind of ridiculous.

When you go pay, just tell them you are a 'florista' and the receptionists will ask you to show them the posted review.

Just return from a 10 day trip in Medellin. Found Lleras park to be very impressive. Stayed in a Laureles lovely apartment and neighborhood without any visitors inconvenience besides showing identification to security. Surprisingly though the initial price tag offer was close to Brazil. I like my trip last year to sao Paulo and just rebooked with expectation to extend to Rio. Last year I did not like the system of sending chicas identification to host, host sending to security, then go ahead to invite chica. It was time consuming and more a deterrent. What is the strategy, whereabouts, besides expensive hotels to get a reasonable stay where girls just visit showing identification to security.

My issue is that I don't want to just see the club only and that's a big bummer if there isn't much nightlife outside the club or that is safe. Maybe it'd be a better idea to visit Madrid, Barcelona or Portugal instead?

There's plenty of "civilian" nightlife in Sao Paulo. When I was younger, I found the SP nightlife to be fantastic. My general observation was that if a Paulista "civilian" female knew some English she would be curious about me. Of course, not every woman is going to date you but there were plenty that were receptive. And I certainly would not tell them you are a tourist.

Sao Paulo does require an awareness of safety. For example, I personally don't go walking around at night. My Brazilian colleagues take ubers / taxis everywhere even if the distance is walkable. It's all workable.

We don't exactly know what you are looking for in a destination. There are always trade-offs. I think ISG members have discussed in great detail Sao Paulo vs. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil vs. Colombia, Brazil vs. Thailand, Brazil vs. Germany and so on. If you are looking for culture, I would go to Spain and Portugal. However, you will not find the same warmth and service you find from the working girls in Brazil.

Safado is actually a bit of a compliment in Brazil, means naughty but mostly used in a good way in this kind of environment.

I'm trying to get my "Safado" count up! I was called that a few times during my stay in SP, but the ladies always had a smile on their face while saying it. Loved SP so much so that I'm heading back for a short 4 day trip. I was there during the holidays but caught a pretty bad bug before heading to RIO that put me on my ass for the last leg of my trip. This time all the usual spots should be open as they were closed for the holidays while I was there in December. Looking forward to it!

If out in the open, in your face, nightlife is your thing, go to BKK or Pattaya. It's monger Disneyland. If you are worried about crime, go to BKK or Pattaya. Buddha rules! But if you are interested in sexy Brazilian girls and great sex, go to SP and RTFF.

SP boates are spread all over town in various neighborhoods, but that said: the Hilton, the Sheraton, the Gran Estanplaza, and the Wyndham Berrini Hotels are next door to Gauguin, and the Marriott Exec & Grand Mercure Itaim Bibi hotels are 2 blocks walking distance from Bomboa. I am not aware of any 4* hotel near Scandallo. Everyone takes a taxi or an Uber to go there except a few of the girls who have their own transportation.

It's much more difficult to get by in Sao Paulo w / o Portuguese than Thailand w / o Thai. That is unless you are staying at western hotels (I. E. Marriott, Hyatt all staff are English fluent) and mostly going to Scandallo (maybe 50-% of girls speak 'some' English). Afterall, Brazil has 200 M plus people and an extremely large and relatively independent economy. In Thailand nearly everyone in tourism speaks decent English, especially in places like Bangkok or Pattaya. I'd also note that Portuguese is a relatively easy language to learn (Latin based) versus Thai. You could learn a lot of common phrases and hold a convo after just 8-10 hours of work.

People here go to multiple clubs and it's a mix of going solo or with others after you've met up on a couple trips. This all noted, and some may disagree, but Sao Paul (and Rio more so) is much more dangerous than Eastern Europe, at least for the past 20 years. You can find some outdoor life if you're looking for non-pros, but many areas are very quiet late at night (i.e. after 11pm / 12am). Plenty of dance clubs and bars open to 3 or 4am, but most here are on limited time so they go to places where there are working girls. The brothel / clubs also have very tight security, so you have much less to worry about from a crime standpoint.
