Question that came to mind as I was reading more about Scandallo and especially Casarao which directly impacted my decision to just stick to the clinicas during my first trip to SP, is why are these night time clubs open so late? Time and time again I heard that Casarao doesn't even get going until after midnight. At the same time, I kind of read that the majority of the clientele who visit these boates are local Brazilian dudes so apart from the weekend nights, don't these guys have daytime jobs to go to in the morning? Just wondering why these clubs (especially Casarao) made decisions to operate so late?

Scandallo logistics.

Head back to grab dinner, freshen up and head over to Scandallo at around 11:30 PM with a wingman.

Before I get into it. I am going to give a logistics crash course based on this and my prior visit.

Your uber pulls into the lower level where security will pat you down and send you into the lobby where there are some long reception counters like a hotel lobby. They check ID and give you your card, which is like an arcade card. You use it for spending on all your food and drinks (we'll get to the women in a bit) at the end before you pay all at once and leave at the same reception counters. When you leave they'll show you a receipt broken down by line item of everything you ordered which you can verify.

Cover is 600 brl of which 400 brl is consumable (go before 7 pm to save the 200 extra on cover). However this is supposedly subject to increase randomly when there are big events. You can text them on WhatsApp in advance to confirm.

From the reception you enter one of two big elevators which go between 0 and 1 (lobby and main level). Main level has a 1) large restaurant area immediately to the right, 2) main club area with live music and bars, and then further in, an 3) outdoor patio area with large bar and ability to order food too I think. All three areas are awesome in their own way. And it's usually pretty crowded with women of all types everywhere and well dressed but also a good amount of guys.

The restaurant has incredible food. Consider combining your lunch or dinner there. Nothing is cheap but it delivers on quality and variety. My only main complaint with Scandallo is how much they mark up all their drinks, it's like 20 usd for a basic cocktail but anyways you are paying for the atmosphere and the experience. You hit your consumable 400 easily with food and beverage.

So anyways, back to the story. Interspersed with more logistics.

We decide to get food first. Some seasoned fish, sushi and cocktails. Delicious. We are chilling at our table waiting for food and a couple girls come over. We kind of expected this, most give you eyes but a few will just actually open you. We make small talk. Later they claim to be real life GF's and are interested in having a threesome with my wingman. He has had a thing for that lately. I don't think it's the best idea since they were below average for the venue, still cute though.

Amidst all this, another chick comes over. She has a slight Colombian look. A little taller. Jet black hair. We have a good chat and rapport and eventually I tell her for 1250 brl we can go up. She says 2000 brl, I tell her no calmly and go back to eating my food. She says something about how she had to pay 500 brl entrance to work today or whatever. I just shrugged to signal that's not my concern. Then she comes back with 1500 brl. I tell her ok, on the condition we go the full hour with lots of good DFK and GFE. She is happy to agree.

A mistake a lot of guys make including my wingman today is they ask the girl how much and then try to pare it down after she gives a really high number (some stooges even accept their number no questions asked). You should always make the open offer and be leading. It's true in civilian life with women and it's true here as well. From what I have read here. 1000 brl - 1250 brl is a good range for women you are actually attracted to, to open with. They will always ask for more. In this instance I agreed to the 1500 brl since I am so rarely here and she was pleasant to be with and wasn't being sharky and pushy with rapport like many women. However, for anyone coming more regularly than twice a year to Scandallo, I would be more strict with holding your ground and maybe even try to snag some under 1000 brl, but good luck with that with any of the hotter ones. The women are a commodity, yes some are hotter than others, but no one is that special to over pay for.

MORE Logistics. Built in Scandallo love hotel.

I suggest to her to go dancing a bit in the main club area before heading upstairs. It's just a really fun vibe with the live music and all the activity.

After that, this is how the logistics work.

We go back to elevators and go back down to the reception. There I waited a little for her to get her bag from the (girl's locker room? After that we go up these stairs that are separate from the two main elevators. This takes you to another separate reception area which is for the love hotel part of the establishment. Here you get the room assigned and the girl registers the amount that you agreed upon (in this case 1500 brl). I think you can just pay her directly in cash after between the two of you, but if you pay by card it will get marked up by 10%. I knew this and paid by card (1650 BRL) anyways for the convenience. But keep this in mind, in most cases it makes sense to be ready with cash for the girls payment specifically.

Once you finish, you give the room card back to the reception and now you pay again separately, this time just for the room. The room costs 340 BRL, there is NO 10% markup for that by paying with card, but double check anyways. And always DECLINE the currency conversion. Pay in BRL. If you go over an hour, I believe they will prorate by minute charge you extra per minute. I have not tested this. They have elevators (different ones from the main ones) where you will go up to and down from your room together. It's funny because sometimes you can have multiple couples in the elevator at once, but it's all good fun. The rooms have really nice showers and private toilet. Bed is also quite reasonable. They provide two towels, one for you and one for her.

Encounter.

We had a great time full of deeper and deeper DFK. There is free wifi at the airport you can use to get an uber or indrive (usually much cheaper than uber). Both those services and the Brazil version of didi known as 99 accept credit cards via the app or via maquinina (swipe or touchless credit card machine). So there is no need to hunt ATMs in the airport when you can just get off the plane and be on your way into the city right away. Once you are at your hotel or airbnb you can easily find ATMs. I like Bradesco for the reasons others mentioned. ESIMs are more convenient than convincing cell phone shops to sell you a physical SIM without a CPF number.

Based on info provided on this board in late Jan 2026, I looked long and hard for this supposed ATM at GRU baggage claim for terminal 3. This was on Feb 27. I can assure you: there is no such ATM. I looked all over for it. It does not exist. I asked a female official who worked there at baggage claim (Terminal 3) where the ATM was: she said you had to exit baggage claim to find an ATM. So maybe there used to be one there, but not now. Anyway, I would be curious what anyone else finds who seeks out this mystery ATM. Let us know if you found it. I myself will be flying back to Sao Paulo in six days, so I will check it out again too.

I had no issues with my own cellphone while in Brazil. Just used Airalo esim but of course I didn't use my phone for any voice calling nor text messaging. But the esim provided internet service which was all I needed for WhatsApp, Google Maps, Google Translate, etc. If I felt I needed to be careful with my phone in public areas, I simply kept it in my pocket with my hand inside it holding onto my phone or sometimes it was in a fanny pack that was buried underneath rather than over my shirt.

I completely agree about Charles Schwab and I would never want to travel without it. The ATM refunds are fantastic, but so are their conversion rates and frankly their customer service as well is top notch.

Another great feature with the Schwab debit card is that after you've used it, you can then lock it via your phone so that it can't be used again until you yourself unlock it again. This is great extra-added security that prevents thieves from getting their scummy hands on your money.

In Brazil Santander is #1 in my experience. I always make a point to locate one near where I stay. Their terminal actually has an option for English and is easy to navigate plus they are everywhere. Many of the random ATMs make it very challenging to decline their awful conversion rate, to the point where I had to actually check my statement and do the math to be sure. The one thing to look out for when you use a Santander ATM, be sure to see what bills it says it has and always pull out larger amounts. If you take out less than 1500 you tend to get a lot of 50 R notes, and sometimes if the machine is out of 100 R you only get 50 Rs. However it always lists the bills on hand in the top right corner, so if it doesn't have 100 R I would recommend going elsewhere. I am not positive on their max withdraw limit, but I typically do 2 x 2000 R and have no problems with that.

Can't speak to the airport, haven't had to do that one yet.

The nearest Santanders to W hotel were oddly uninterested in accepting European bank cards. There is a 24 hour ATM in the mall next to your place but it only has a 1000 R withdrawal limit. I resorted to taking out 1000 R every time I passed a mall, they all have a 24 HR ATM but they can be annoyingly tucked away in some hidden corner. At the clinicas you can pay the full bill by card or in some you pay the house on card and the lady with cash. At GG I paid the final bill and room with card and then the lady with cash. GG seemed to charge 15% to pay the lady with a card.

I prefer Bradesco and Santander. I never get money at the airport, and wait until I'm in the town to do that. But these days, I usually don't need to get any money right away since I normally have some left over from my last trip (currently R3, 320).
