I'm jealous of you Texas folks. It could be worse. American Airlines is discontinuing nonstop flights from Phoenix to Monterrey next year. So no more nonstop flights to MTY anymore for me. They've had it since 2023. I'm disappointed and really pissed.

With the Viva Volaris merger, there is going to be less competition, so airfares are going to become even more expensive to Monterrey from Texas.

Not trying to dissuade anyone but just booked a direct flight on Viva Aerobus from Austin, TX over 3 weeks from now and by the time you pay upgraded booking to check a phucking bag + taxes + Monterrey airport fee just shy of $600! Also I just looked at airfare nearly 60 days out and similar pricing. For us Texas bros can justify the more recent higher airfares but if I lived on the west coast going to Tijuana for regular action or if lived on the east coast Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Colombia airfares generally lower than from TX. El Paso also on my radar for good value P-tang.

Monterrey massage parlors very good value once down there but if traveling back and forth regularly the higher airfares these days quickly eat up my mongering budget.

I'm in a similar situation. If it weren't for the distance, it would actually be cheaper to fly to Colombia or Brazil than to fly to Monterrey from central Texas. I find it less of a hassle to take an overnight bus, Tornado or Omnibus VIP (not Greyhound / Flix) to Monterrey than to deal with flights, parking, security / immigration lines at the airport.

Well folks, I've made my long awaited return to Mexico. I have been here in Monterrey for a few days now, and as expected due to the time of the week when I arrived, things got off to a slow start.
