Try Hotel Matum. There's a casino on site and a 5 minute walk to the monument. Chica friendly for about $60-65/night including taxes.

My Spanish is fair to good, but I'm wondering what you mean by " to go into the environment of the locals? If there are chicas out for $$, then I would think they woul know you existed. I'm wondering if you didn't attempt to talk to them due to your lack of Spanish. Also, did you have any luch at all?

Posts: 74I've stayed there since the flights stopped to santiago by continental. It is very chica friendly, but it is a touch and go day to day. For one thing spanish is a must if you wish to go into the enviornment of the locals. They don't know you exist! Women won't speak to you on the street [most]. You'll have to do some "leg"work to find where to go. I know sundays are good at the monument within walking distance. I usually travel alone coming or going and unless I've had company with me It was hard to find a "friend" in a short time.
For me it was sometimes unconfortable to move thru areas with large amounts of people and minimal grasp of the language. The hotel is very accommodating but discretion is the rule.

Coming to Santiago in January. I'm having a difficult time finding a hotel in the $50-$60 range. Also, looiing for chicas between 1500-2000. I'm going to be there for 2 nights and on a budget.

Hey guys, I have been to Santo Domingo many times within the last 3 years but I have never been to Santiago before. I am limited in my spanish but seem to do well along the Conde. I am traveling there this december for 28 days and want to give Santiago a try. Question?? Is there an area in Santiago similiar to El Conde in Santo Domingo ??? What is the best side of town to stay ??? Are the ladies as easy as in SD ?? Any suggestions??
Thanks Lew

I will be in the DR for three weeks starting Oct. 14. I hadn't planned to stay in Santiago very long but this thread makes it sound interesting! I need to read a lot more posts and then I'll have a few questions. I hope someone out there can help me.
Negro, your posts have been great. I hope you have not disappeared from this board.

I have a trip planned to DR over the New Years holiday. I'm arriving Santiago the 30th, and plan to stay there for a couple of nights, both to rest up from the long trip from the west coast and to avoid too much travel hassels over the holiday. After that intend to spend several nights in Sosua, before returning on the 7th to USA.
Is the New Year a big deal in DR? Will the pros be on holiday, or will they be working?
I am low key, not a party animal but enjoy a fun time. At 57, although I am in good shape, I don't kid myself about being a player for the young women. So I stick to the P4P action, but do enjoy treating the right woman to a nice encounter (i.e. dinner, dance, etc. if she is in to it). Because my time is limited, does anyone have any suggestions for how to meet women in Santiago that would be available?
I speak okay Espanol, and always try to learn about the places I visit like a tourist in addition to the time spent with the ladies.
This is my first trip to DR, most of my travel has been in SA.
Thanks for any ideas.
