That's why I would always negotiate a ST and LT rate. I've never found the need to pay upfront (leaving on table, etc) for independants in Thailand. By holding the money, you're going to make sure she delivers, or you pay her for what you actually got. I'd say 1000 for ST is normal the last time I was in Bangkok (8 months ago).

As for the JW Marriott, I'd always ask for a late checkout. I'm not sure if they willl give you more than an hour or two for free, but it can help some. It's also one reason why it's good to be in a hotel frequent stay program. Some hotels will give you a 4pm or even 6pm checkout. (I've done this in Brazil to 6pm, not sure what the standard is in BKK)

If you staying in places like JW Marriott or similar, just leave the money in the in-room safe. As the girl normally go to the bathroom to shower or doing whatever before she leave, that is the time to get money out the safe, if she stay for short time pay her ST. Most of them will try something, but if you hold on to your money then you are in 'control'.

JW Marriott will give regulars or Marriott card holders late check out until 4pm, and if the hotel is not full until 6 pm. As with everything in LOS, a nice smile to the person at the front desk does wonders.

Duni, I walked in there at noon. lots of empty tables, and I, along with a bunch of local Thai office worker types, were told to leave, as the place was "fully booked".

Partied in Patpong late last night, was amused/interested to discover a couple of bars make you sign for every drink you buy.

Apparently customers never believe how many drinks they bought, and trouble ensues. This is a good idea I guess.

this sunday, and although this site is obviously a godsend and it isn't my firt time in BKK, in a way there's just too much information to digest properly, especially for someone like myself who is a little bit gree behind the ears when it comes to this sort of thing.

One thing I'd like everyone's advice on: without sounding arrogant I'm 31 years old and have never had any problems finding girls in the west, but just what is the distinction in LOS ( I'm learning ) between a normal / university girl who would be prepared to have a relationship with a farang and a working girl ? Is it black and white ?

Would you recommend I visit regular bars, or will I just end up meeting a bar girl on her day off ? Is it simply your a ***** and you go with farangs or your a good girl and you wouldn't be seen dead with one as Thai society would label you a prostitute ?

Was this at a go-go bar? It was for me. I didn't take anyone that night, although I wanted to. The girl I was interested in got scooped up by a Japanese guy that must have been winking harder and longer than me. Oh well...

This has been discussed endlessly both here and in the photo section. Start searching-RTFT

You are going to Thailand. You will likely be the 10th or even the 20th customer often. Get over it or find a nice virgin & setttle down.

When I have discovered the night life of Bangkok four years ago, Nana Entertainment Plaza (NEP) was described as a more authentic place with local connoisseurs and with a better service than Patpong which was seen as a trap for tourists providing a poor service at an high price.

Recently some of my swiss friends have help me to reconsider this evaluation:

- The girls seems often more expansive in NEP (2000 ST no LT or 4000) than in Patpong (1500 ST and 2500/3000 LT).

- Same for the barfine (500 in Patpong against 600 in NEP).

- The NEP is often packed with Japanese which are pushing the prices up.

- and the average quality of the service provided was much better in Patpong than in NEP.

... I do not want to set rules from my personal experience but Patpong worth a visit... and NEP seems overevaluated.

I recommand Camelot and King's Corner (beware for katoey)

NEP is of course a tourist trap, just like Patpong, Soi Cowboy and similar places. They are there for the tourists, not for the locals. Thais go to other places that are often even more expensive. Why not visit the clubs at Thong Lor or the discos at RCA and Ratchada Soi 4 if you don't like to be ripped off. You can score very cute girls there but not as easy as in the tourists traps.

Sure, there are a few out there who are looking for one night stands but that's not the norm and rather a lucky draw. Regulars and university girls can be had, but you will need some time before you can score. I find it quite easy to get laid with non P4P but expect to go home alone for a couple of days. But opposite to you I speak Thai fluently which alone is a sign for the girls that I spend a lot of time in LOS. Also dress well but not exaggerated and behave well. Don't forget, attitude is the key. Being good looking might be of help but who wants to spend some time with a handsome asshole or moron ? Furthermore you would wonder who is considered being good looking by many Thais, so you aren't the only one.
