$40 for the night is a little high maybe by $10 for the street girls. But not terrible. All Nicas have cedulas after age 15. Always ask for it. Always. Well I was there the 25th- Jan 1 last year and nothing was open (25th, most of the 26th and the 1st) day or night but the food stores in the Esso and Texaco. i am not counting the "Gringo Motel" Nico bars (the gringo goes in and doesn't come out) but maybe. I was last there is January. I found that the Holiday Inn Select is not only comfortabe, clean and new but also "friendly". I "pushed the issue" and nobody gave me any problems even though the elevator to the floors is directly across from the front desk- I think it is probably your best bet.

I have heard the Crowne Plaza can be a headache to bring in girls.
