Manaus

Last April I spent a few nights in the Taj Mahal Continental on Av. Getulio Vargas, 741, Centro. 95R/night, incl. Asked for a room towards the top (near the rooftop pool - good late afternoon and evening respite and you can take your drinks up there) and in the back (quiet, view). When checking in I asked about guest policy (I was paying for a double). Desk mgr. smiled and said OK but to be "modest" about it (he meant, she should not dress like a ho). Fair enough.

The first night I did the "club" scene. Pretty pathetic. These were ho's of the worst order, and looked it (it was a Monday and then a Thursday night). Back at the hotel I took the doorman aside (it was about 2330-0000) and asked him waht he could do. "Nao problemo," and he offered to have 3 come up and I could take my pick (reminded me of my experience in Salvado and in Fortaleza). 30 minutres later 3 girls appeared - 2 were most doable and the other one would do in a pinch. Picked one of the really doables and she did just fine. All 3 were in early 20's and were primarily of indigeneous heritage. This was new to me. We had a fine time - she knew her stuff, and while the BJ was not quite my style (she was "off to the races") she took my counsel and "help" and slowed down and used her tongue rather than her hand to augment her Electrolux-like mouth. 90R for 2 hours and a couple of pops (she wanted 125R for all night - price was OK but I didn't want that). Plus 10R taxi. A few nights later I asked the doorman for 2 loira - two girls showed up, 1 blonde and one indigeneous. The loira was not doable. The indigeneous girl was really cute so I chose her. 2+H=100. She was OK - bubbly personality but not so skilled. But, I got my nut (X2) and she got hers, so all was well. She liked the completo part - I got a little worried about my neighbors - Japanese businessment, apparently.

Oh yes: I tipped the doorman 25R up front and another 20 before I left. All that might work for you.

Interesting area, worth far ore time than I allotted. I rode the ferries up Rio Negro for 3 nights: Great. (Buy a hammock). Ditto down to Belem. 4 days and a fabulous experience. Buy a couple of bottles of cachaca and take them along - you'll have lots of friends and company. Mongering was probably possible on the boat to Belem with locals and a few German tourist girls, but I drank too much and didn't want the hassle of "finding the right place" on a very public ferry. Anyway, by then I was saving my seed for Fortaleza lovelies. While in the Amazon try the caldereida (sp?) - a fish stew with the local fish. Really good - I'd suggest you bring you own knife and spoon.

All in all Manaus is not primo for mongering, but it was OK. One probably doesn't go there for that (I didn't) but it makes the nights more interesting.
I ate in the little joints along the streets (off the tourist and main drags) and the beer was cold, the fish was GREAT, and the locals friendly.

Taj Mahal is in a bad neighborhood. You should go to Parthenon, last I checked, they don't charge for you to bring girls there.

Taj Mahal is in a great location. Nothing wrong with the neighbourhood.
Av Getúlio Vargas is one of the major avenidas in Manaus. Lots of shops, restaurants, icecream-parlors, internet-cafés etc. Outside the hotel you have buses to all parts of Manaus.

Two blocks away you have Teatro Amazonas and lots of nice bars and restaurants. Pleasant area for strolling, flirting and always something happening in the evening.

Four blocks away you have Remulos strip-club (and 2 more strip-clubs).

5 minutes walk from your hotel you have the commercial district with lots of shops, banks and nice sights.

I have been back from Manaus for more than a month now, but did not write anything, because I got ill on the plane ride home and was unable to post.

I was only there for a day (and it was election day, meaning everything closed at 11 pm), but I left with a wonderful impression of the city's possibilities.

I took a long walk through the city in the afternoon and met a beautiful blond 20 yo who did pedicure and manuicure. She was thin for a Brazilian: I would guess she is 32/22/32 with a completely innocent face and thick lips. Of course, I agreed to the 6 real charge for my pedicure, and over the course of an hour chatted her up. She had a boyfriend, couldn't spend the night with me then, but promised to be the love of my life when I return. I have had a few phone conversations with her since, and will be seeing her in 4 days.

After leaving this beauty, I met at least two other girls interested in spending some time with me. However, I had become impatient, and needed a sure thing so I went out to the Ponte Negra.

The floor show at Ponte Negra is not worth telling you about. BORING BORING BORING.

But, there were numerous non pro opportunities there, and I almost became side tracked. But when I heard the bar closed at 11, I panicked to line up some action for the night. I spotted a few girls who were obviously working and offered them beer. After an additional hour of pleasanteries, I chose my gal and we returned to my hotel in the central portion of Manaus. She is about 5 feet tall, 110 pounds, very large breasts and a little too much baby fat for my tastes. And, although it was clear that she found my appetite for very very long sex sessions to be too demanding for her tastes, she nevertheless did everything I wanted over this time period. All holes were offered, although I still am reluctant to do anal sex since I hate having shit on my penis when I pull out (even if I am wearing a condom). The next morning, when we awoke, she complied to my desires with a BBBJ/CIM followed by half an hour of straight sex. Total charge=200 reals including taxi (and 50 reals of this was a tip!!). In Sao Paulo, this would have been at least 400 reals.

I was very unhappy to leave. But, I have business in Manaus next week, and I managed to figure out a way to get a weekend in before my work begins.

I love Sao Paulo and Rio, but these more innocent settings appeal to me far more. I am quite certain the blond will be fucking me almost my entire time in Manaus. Except, of course, when I have my "business meetings" at which time I will slip off to a motel with a pro. I think anyone who goes to Manaus and speaks a little Portuguese will be impressed by the opportunities. Especially if they are into non-pros.

What's the name of the place in Ponta Negra?
I agree that Manaus is great for non-pro's.

Its called Laranjinha (its mentioned all over this board), and its a worthless dive with a terrible stage show. Many of the hookers are the same group I saw working the street corners in Centro but there were a handful of girls who clearly only worked the Ponta Negra area, some of whom were very pretty.

The hookers at Ponta Negra represent an easy fall back if you fail to score with a regular girl. There seemed to be plenty of non pros available as well, but I had been planning to go dancing and wanted to pick up a girl later on. It was a mistake since everything closed for the election, so I pick a willing garota and went back to my hotel.

Overall, my impression of Manaus was that lots of girls were interested in hooking up. Even my waitress at lunch was flirting with me. And, the girl I will see this weekend asked me to bring a friend for her girlfriend! It has me wondering about a romantic threesome...

I never liked Laranjinha.
I prefer an early visit at Remulos, the paradise of the Amazon, and afterwards a go at the regular girls at the forró-clubs.

Generally speaking, how did the majority of girls in Manaus look like?All mulatas? Morenas?Whites? Caboclas? And hwo would you rate them in terms of beauty (face and body) on a 1-10 scale?

I'd be interested to know as Manaus could be a place I'd spend some time on my next visit.

And how about the price of the hotel, how are they? More expensive compared to Rio/SP? I would assume less expensive but since Manaus is on the free trade zone, it is also home to some of the most expensive places in all of Brasil. Could you shed some lights into this?

In Manaus you'll find lots of morenas and caboclas. Not that many whites or blacks. There is a big mixture with indian blood. I just love the look of the women in Manaus.

+ Prices of hotel, restaurants, sex etc are lower than Rio or Sao Paulo.
+ Manaus is great for mongering.
+ Manaus is excellent for non-proaction.
+ Several day-time clubs on weekends. You go there for swimming, eating, dancing, getting drunk and laid.
+/- The beach Ponta Negra is not very nice as a beach, but good for hunting.
- Going to different forró clubs means long taxi-rides.
- Difficult to find nice restaurants in Centro that's open in the evening.

Manaus is one of my favourite-cities, but I think the average Rio-monger might feel a bit lost in Manaus and just longing to get back to Copacabana.

i have some pics of the ponta negra beach area. these photos were taken during the dry season, the brazilian summer: dec-jan. when i visited in late feb the beach was under water. the bar/restaurants here. get packed on weekend nights. it's a distance from Manaus centro.

I am not that good on races, since I do not even know what a Cabocia is. However, the skin tones range from dark latin-ish to light latin-ish. Its not Salvador nor the south. As I mostly was interested in non pros, I can tell you that there are plenty of true beauties, even more girls who would be considered by most to be very pretty. I can't say I pay too much attentio to the ugly ones. But certainly, opportunities abound.

Everything is a bit cheaper here than Rio, but not quite as cheap as Porto Velho or other truly "off the beaten path" destinations. I am staying at the Mercure apart hotel: a nice double bed, a kitchen and living room. 120 reals on the weekend, 200 reals weekdays. Like all Mercure hotels, internet access is included in the price. And, it has a very good restaurant where I had outstanding fish on a bed of risotto today (quite a surprise to say the least).

I have not yet taken in any of the dance places. But, from what I have seen so far, Sperto is spot on about this place. I don't like strip joints (he is fond of them), so I will skip Remulus. I have a "normal" girlfriend here whom I met walking around town a few months back. She and I had sex four times in my first 12 hours here, so I am not certain Companhia de Forro has much to offer me, but I intend to give it a try anyway.

I agree that this is not Rio or Sao Paulo style mongering. There are streetwalkers everywhere, and Remulus, so one never has to worry about not getting laid, but there is no Centaurius, Bahamas or even Help here. The extreme ends of mongering are well covered (the 30 reals fuck and the free fuck), but the in between and high end stuff is lacking.

Thank you Forrest for your informative post. Lately, Manaus and the Amazon region has really peaked my curiosity and I'm seriously considering giving it a try on my next sex-capade there. :D

Btw, what are the vaccin requirements for the Amazon region? I already did the malaria and yellow fever about a year ago prior to my visit. Would I need to take those shots again or do they last for a while?
