I used Craigslist to good effect on my first few visits, which I'd suggest is more random in terms of quality / price.

I had not been to LAC in four or five years, but went there one night in early August. Most of the reports here lately have bad-mouthed the looks of the women in LAC, so I was not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. Most were sort of average, as Simmer reports, but there were a few real lookers. Obviously it is possible the lookers were holding out for young Koreans, but several with whom I made eye contact certainly seemed to return my gaze. I came in accompanied by a Pinay, so that may have made me appear as a neutral rather than "interested" prospect. But there were clearly many more women than customers, in numbers much more pronounced than I remembered from the past. She ended up staying with us until late the next afternoon, probably partially because the monsoon rains were persisting, and we had AC, a comfortable bed (big enough for three), TV, and food. When she left she happily accepted 2000 pesos. She was not a stunner, but a little above average, large susus, a nice personality and very GFE.

I also poked around in Robinsons' Place Mall a few times. I literally saw no Pinays who made eye contact and none of the usual "Hello, sir (s). " I was struck by the numbers of empty store spaces in the Pedro Gil side of the mall. I was wondering if the influx of Middle Easterners and Asians is somehow affecting the attractiveness of the mall relative to other malls in the eyes of Filipinos. Just speculation on my part.

Malate is not a place to find hotties. The best you will do is run thru LAC (due to large number of girls) late-night. There are prettier gals there, but they are few, and far between. Most of the girls in all of those places have grown older / fuglier over the years. To find prettier girls in LAC, you should consider getting off the stool and walking around the entire place (including upstairs).

If you want hot, consider Makati bars (not the street FL, the Burgos FL are like the LAC / Amazonia girls: older / fuglier), or larger AC bars (Atlantis), where you will pay more. On my last trip to the Philippines, I found the number of people trying to scam me at every opportunity really irritating. It got to me. If I wasn't being mugged by trike drivers in AC, the hotel receptionist was trying to charge me for consumables I didn't consume, the bar girl was fleeing at 2. 00 am to "buy milk powder for her baby", the handicraft ladies in PG were trying to charge me 350 PHP for a little woven bracelet which took them five minutes to make (LOL) or the street urchins were trying to pinch the change straight out of my pockets. It's all pretty minor stuff, but it just wore me out. I haven't come across the sleight-of-hand money steeling trick at the money change office yet. May be they should learn this trick from their Balinese friends. I take my hat off to the foreigners who have succeeded in living in the Philippines.

Here's an example of a low level scam on inter-city bus routes. A pretty young girl comes on board and starts handing out these little notices. Then she starts selling local delicacies. I'm sure that the little sympathy note results in more sales. Her basket was empty after she walked up and down the bus aisle. If I just saw this in isolation, the story might have been half believable. Then I saw a young guy in Malate with the same note (pretending to be a poor college student) walking around selling pens.

[/QUOTE]Have experienced this from time to time. How is this a scam? They are selling a small item, usually p50 or 100. Have seen the same note in both the province and Manila. The note is a standard fund-raising note, mass-produced to be used in any kind of sale.
