Furthermore, if he didn't want mongers in his hotel he could just do what the AI places do and only allow registered guests, the place would be a ghost town overnight, actually it pretty much is already.

In Puerto Plata things are somewhat different because there is far less passing trade and it is a bit harder for the locals to get away with scams and rip-offs knowing they will be facing the same guys next week and next month. (Not that they don't try sometimes!)

It's a great place if you a looking for a quiet spot that is the complete opposite of New Garden. But it's just way too overpriced for what you get in return as far as room accommodations.

We all should read it, print a copy and tape it to the cover of our passports to be read every time we jump on a plane to the DR.

If a chica throws me a stupid price out of the gate I don't even try to get the price down, I just walk away. There may be exceptions to the rule but always revert back to the rule.
