bars closed on loi kratong? i don't think so!
Does anyone know if Loi Kroh and all the bars shut down for the next 3 days? How about Spicy?
Where do the mongers go? Should we be taking those hats off and just enjoy "the culture"?
The opposite I guess. They will open longer. The clientele will be rowdier the party will be loud and bad as usual 3 to 5 days non stop-just be careful riding the motorbike drunk as there will be roadblocks with checks and a lot of really bad ass drunk drivers around.
Not a whorist`s destination
Chiang Mai is a relatively small town and distances are at another scale than Bangkok. For example a walk from the night market to the center of the old town will take about 20 minutes; 30 if you are on "tourist mood" meaning that you are looking around and you stop from time to time to take photos etc. The area around the night market is also close to a big number of bars and an "entertainment" area (have not tried). Chiang Mai is full of small boutique hotels (from luxury ones to 3 stars) that are ideal for a relaxing stay. From there you can also reach the cafes and restaurants in the riverside with another 10-20 minutes walk.
One week in Chiang Mai might be a rather long time if you stay only in the town. If you plan to go for some trips (elephant camps, hill tribe villages, national parks etc.) around then one week can be spent there.
What you are saying really belongs on a tourist website such as Tripadvisor and Lonely Planet.
This is an International sex guide and my point is that Chiang Mai is no longer suited to be mentioned in the classified lists as a whorist`s destination the subject that I believe is the main interest of ISGs members.
As I said previously, anyone visiting Chiang Mai for the girls and adult nightlife entertainments is going to be disappointed.
