The critical point with any language comes when you realise you are thinking in that language, and don't have to translate from English to Thai. I started learning Thai 25 years ago but have to keep picking up new things. Learning Thai was actually fun for me. Much more fun than a highly grammatical language like German. However I recommend guys to start young, before brain starts to seize up and be willing to persist regularly. Takes huge effort and time. I don't believe in the AUA Immersion method. It provides spaced repetition based on how well you know a word or not. Can be loaded from a spreadsheet word list. Currently working on a big spreadsheet of word lists merged from various sources. Learning tones and pronunciation requires a good teacher in early stages.
