If you only have a good understanding of Thai, some girls start to pout, because not even the reason for an incoming phone call is going to work. When it is really the thai bf or her friend telling her to come to a party. No one has died, no water buff. Is sick, no mother has fallen on motorsai. There is peace in the universe.

When you live someplace, you are not in a hurry as someone on holiday might be. If I can't find anything that I know is going to be good, I do not partake. Go home and wait for another day. A guy on two week holiday starts to panic when things do not look right and can make some bad decisions.

Also, I do not take girls off the street for 500-700 THB expecting that this is going to be some beauty contest winner and that I am going to get some luv. That is not happening. I do not hang out in nana car parks for the same reasons, no great attitude and looks at any price.

It just seems that when you are an in shape guy with some decent clothes and a very nice apartment and car, there are so many more opportunities. You even develop Thai male contacts who can every once in a while come up with interesting exploits. Thai men are not paying the high numbers unless they are trying to impress on business issues, possibly a Japanese or Korean businessman. Thai guys are very frugal and have a decent catalog of venues farangs do not venture to.

For the most part, tourists are not getting the good price and good looks. You have to pay for it at or near asking price when you have that look of panic / fear / lack of pussy / love / whatever on your face.

Sorry, I had to laugh at the Nana Car Park comment, but this might make for an interesting discussion. You could consider me as somewhat of a NCP connoisseur, since I seldom take ladies from anywhere else, in some 2 years living in BKK since 2007, and when I do it's usually around the corner SWs close to sukh soi 5.

Re the looks of quite a number of ladies I've taken from there, I'd stack them up against any found anywhere in the world, or, for that matter, in the many oceans of internet porn, of which I am very familiar. This is especially the case IME being in BKK in the past 5 months. BTW I think everyone who's been here on ISG a while might know that these girls typicly go for 1000B ST {about 30 dollars US}.

As for attitude, if you are referring to the TGs at the NCP, I'm not sure how you would know if, in your own words, you do "not hang out there". IMO the attitude depends on the particular lady, may and often does vary alot from one to another, and even with the same individual YMMV, in fact it will vary, from time to time. Again, though, IME on this present trip, the attitudes and service is definitely as good or better than ever since I began coming to Siam.

Why is this scene apparently better now than ever since 2007 yet at the same price? Some possible factors are the downturn of the world economy, the loss of customers in LOS due to various political issues since 2006 {including a coup, airport closures, siege of BKK, etc} and fewer Japanese visitors due to their own tragedy, etc. Furthermore it should be noted that this is the first time I was in the capitol from late March to mid September, whereas I usually visit from August to February. IOW this trip is more of a low season trip.

I haven't been back to BKK for 5 years, but the last time I was there I visited a place called Club Eden, on Sukuhmvit Soi 7 (1/2). It was a bit run-down and the girls were well seasoned, so I wonder if it has survived. I'll be visiting in a few weeks and I'd like to go back, but I wonder if anyone can update me on this place. Like I said, the girls were no spring lillies, but the 3P, toys, optional anal, on-site room, were all to my liking. If not Club Eden, a recommended alternative?

He can tell you everything you want to know about what to do, where to go, prices, etc. He's known as Giotto on this board, but don't use that name at his Lodge or he'll get in trouble with his wife.

I also recommend that you review Giotto's own forum on this ISG board.

The other day, BTW, a girl there volunteered to give me 2 or 3 hours for a ST. She was just average in looks IMO but she gave me 3 hours just as she promised and, I might add, with no attitude plus excellent service.

Re your remark about attitude and looks, I think these are very subjective topics. Though it sounds like your standard for "good looks" is quite high when you say there are few like that here. Or perhaps Asians are just not your thing. Certainly there are relatively few stunners who are 9 or 10's on a scale of 1 to 10. But if your name is not Brad Pitt or you don't have something else very special going for you beyond 99% of punters in LOS, can one really expect to get such a lady at 500 Baht for even below average service? No.

Take a look at the PG and you will see some of the 'no spring lillies' type ladies or similar type ladies posted there.

The biggest scam they operate is probably the "helpful guide" trick, outside of museums or temples. Invariably someone will come up to you and inform you the temple, museum. Is closed or will soon be closing, but he has another great suggestion for you. This most of the time involves a cheap tuk-tuk drive to some far off touristy place and a "short" visit to a jewelry shop, suit maker, who as it happens, this day is working on a "special government subsidized tourist discount scheme". You will see all the jewelry shops and suit makers of BKK and pay discount prices that are at least triple the normal prices.

You will see the same in Patpong: touts try to guide you to sleazy upstairs "a-gogo-bars" for a sexy show. They forget to tell you the girls are fugly and the prices even more so.

In general distrust any Thai coming to you with a "great deal" (taxis, girls, gems.). Thai are really shy people and will not even think of disturbing your peace and if they do they will have some ulterior motive.

Even in beer bars or a-gogo bars, the girls will usually ask you if they can sit with you and whether you will buy them a lady-drink. A simple "no" and a warm smile is all it takes to have them leave you in peace.

Also note that the Thai and farang mongering scenes do not really overlap. You see next to no Thai men in "our" beer-bars and a-gogos. The Asian men you see there are probably Koreans or Japanese and they are as clueless as we, if not more. So bringing a local Thai guide to these places is not going to help much.

Take the prices quoted on the board here as a general guide-line and don't think you have been scammed if you notice someone else got a stunner on a LT date for 500 baht less than you. Even the best of negotiators will only be able to make a difference of perhaps 50 USD. Set yourself a budget and be happy if you find someone matching it. Driving the price down into the bargain basement is likely to spoil some of the fun afterwards. Generosity "nam jai" (literally: "juice of the heart") of the richer to the poorer is considered a major Thai concept and will grant you much esteem. One way or another you will get it back through their system of "Sam-neuk-boon-koon" ("repaying debts"). If you visit the same places a few times and you are known as someone with "nam jai", you will get better deals easily, but Cheap Charleys will end up with the crumbs of the rich table. Don't spoil it for yourself for a lousy few score of dollars.

I don't call him Giotto there, but I don't see the reason why his wife would object.

There is his own forum on ISG, his contributions include the lodge URL, there is only one official male owner at the Lodge. So it is clera who is who. ISG members do get some special deals in there, so ISG is not a mistery over there.

LL is a great location, fully respectable and veerery GF friendly.

There is no walk of shame there as all know there is no shame in heading back to your room with a girl or two (or more!).

LL has its own Sports Bar fully furnished. Another plus for the newcomers as they can break the ice with the mongering scene with no risk of being ripped off. Bar fine is slightly on the expensive side but ad a whole you get a good time, a good and attentive treat, no rush from the girls to be taken: they are happy to entertain you sitting and chatting with you while you drink. Be smartly generous, offer them a LD, extend it to her friend ANC maybe the waiter / tress and you will win their heart.

Not as a stupid overspending farang but ad a truly handsome man.

Those few bucks extra will get you sincere appreciation.

Coming back to topic, what I do is not to mention ISG or "Giotto" with the girls, maybe makes sense, maybe not. Whatever, doesn't change my life to do so, either way.

1. Get a regular metered taxi and chances are very slim you will be ripped off. I have never encountered any attempt at severe rip-offs, the only time that came close was the taxi driver taking me to the airport from my hotel, who suggested a flat fare of 600 THB instead of the metered fare. You should always politely ask for the meter. Taxi fares are very reasonable anyway.

2. Staying at Livingstones Lodge is the *perfect* introduction to the BKK scene. As mentioned elsewhere. It is a nice and clean boutique hotel, and a huge plus is the fact that they have their own Sports Bar. You will not get ripped off. Play some pool with the ladies, buy them a drink or two, just relax. Very low pressure atmosphere. In fact, I was a terrible pool player when I first came to BKK, but the girls in LL improved my game tremendously. Yes, the barfine at LL might be a few hundred Baht more than some other places, but we're talking about a difference of 5 dollars here. Which in my mind is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

3. Finding a guide? Well, I actually think that the girls from LL can be pretty good guides! We have gone to discos (had a terrific time with my LL girl at both CM2 and Spasso) , eaten fantastic and inexpensive food at great Thai restaurants which I never would have found alone, and gone to other bars for more pool playing. And of course, all followed by her spending the night, and then breakfast by the LL pool in the morning.

4. If you want so sample some of the massage parlors and soapies then I would almost guarantee you will not be ripped off at any of the places discussed regularly on this forum. I like Annies although it is a little bit run down.

Depending on how much time you plan to spend in BKK, I would recommend booking the first 3-4 nights at Livingstones Lodge to get your bearings, and then take if from there. You seem to be very concerned about being ripped off. I would say that if you act sensibly, be polite and smile, don't get senselessly drunk, then you will have a great time.

For that price you are unlikely to get really good looks. Maybe there are one or two good lookers in Biergarten, Nana Car Park etc. But they may well have a higher price. They just aren't going to be desperate enough to go that low if they are really good looking.

Its possible to find really good looks and really good attitude, if you know the right places. I don't find this combination as low as 1K. Its usually at least 2K, where I am looking since I want a variety of ladies to choose from and don't have time for a long hunt.
