When the shooting starts I sure hope they don't shoot me instead of the criminals.

To be fair the area they are in (San victorino) is somewhere that you're not really going to be in. It is a fun bustling area with loads of vendors around if you want to venture into it but I had an unsuccessful pickpocket attempt here and the high crowds of the area just makes me feel as though it's a pickpocket paradise.

Just saying.
I heard the Hotel Teqendama was where the Escobar family were under House arrest-- They also featured that hotel in Narcos where they put them.

GREAT info for all. Many years ago I mistakenly booked the other one. Stayed only one night because it was a bit runned down for my taste.
I stayed at the Hotel Tequendama several times years ago, when FARC and the ELN were still threats. I was told that the Colombian military owned the hotel. I'm not sure if that's true, but the two "militares" with assault rifles beside the front door were a nice touch. And impressed my dates. At that time the rooms were dated but in reasonably good shape.
And yes, the Tequendama was indeed the hotel where the Escobars were ensconced.

Coming back to Bogota next year. Me and a buddy, going to show him around and have a great time. Do have a question still. Scope looks like it is a big threat in midellin, is it bad in Bogota. Will be using seeking some and also free lancers mostly. But wanting to be safe also. What do you guys think?

Zona t
I'll be in Bogota Thursday first time there so I'm using a lot of seeking but I also want to learn the area since I think Colombia could be a place for me to retire at! Any advice is welcome ty.
-
I'm in Bogota now, staying near Zona T. Going to check out a few of the north casa first, have a few SA meetings, and head down to SF. Let me know if anyone is here and wants to grab a drink and / or out some places. PM me. I'll report back later.

Zona T?
I'll be in Bogota Thursday first time there so I'm using a lot of seeking but I also want to learn the area since I think Colombia could be a place for me to retire at! Any advice is welcome ty.
You titled your post "Zona T" . I am not sure if you are asking about that specific area or retiring in Bogota or to Colombia?
If you are looking for retiring in Colombia, you should head to Colombia expat forums. There are a few good ones specific to Colombia that can give you real advice.
If you are looking at Zona T as an area to live in or pursue the hobby. Well, the answer to both of those are no in my opinion. In my opinion there are much better areas of Bogota to live, and also much better areas to play. Zona T (T is for Tolerencia) is an area with a few higher end malls, a lot of restaurants, and bars. Few residential buildings in Zona T proper, but the adjacent neighborhoods are much nicer. And there are a few areas to play (casas, masaje) in the Zona, you're much better off elsewhere unless you plan on only domicilio.

24th / new years gifts
For those of you that have or have had novias living with their family still. I am hoping to pick your brain.
I won't be around for either holiday, but I want to give something basic that is meaningful. I have met her mother, her sister, and some of her friends. Spent some time on other holidays in their neighborhood. Not looking to impress or "shower with gifts". I just want to do something that is nice.
Any suggestions?
I mean I could always give her some money before I go with the purpose of it being used for food / drinks for a good time. But I am hoping to do something more than just putting some money in her hand. I am not looking to marry her or gain her mothers approval or anything. But I respect her / them so if there is some small gifts I can leave individually for the tree or just a group gift. I would like to make the extra effort.

Best barrios for privacy
Which Barrios don't have every building with security guards? They are often very uptight and very nosy. I'the like to do my business without so much prying eyes.

Jewelry like a necklace may be good, but it can get stolen in Mde if expensive and seen in public.
Walking around Chapinero got these-- 69 has 40 girls so in that area there are 4-6 clubs.
There are only 2 I think. The 69 and the pussy house. Both dead most days. The good days are long gone.
Where have you seen other club in this area? Most places are day light casas.

Colombians like dogs.
I mean that's an answer. But I guess maybe you guys think a gift is something big. In USA in a normal girlfriend situation I would have gotten a bottle of wine for the adults to share and some candy for each of the kids with their name on it so they have something extra to open. It balances the fact that I am not part of their family, but that I was thinking about them given the fact that I have spent some time with them in the past. Just some sincerity around the Christmas season.
I certainly appreciate the responses and it appears as though the answer is no. That you guys don't have any suggestions based on your experience with girlfriends in Colombia. And I do understand this is a mongering forum :-)
