No, this does not explain the problem I have with Backpage
I cannot access Backpage out of the US (from the US) for anything, not just the adult section. In fact, I was trying to get onto Backpage to look for a short term rental apartment in Rio de Janeiro, not sex (why would anyone who knows anything about Rio use BP for sex?)
Yes, I know they closed the escort section in early 2017. But if I want someone to rent me a room in Shanghai or to sell me furniture in Lima, I cannot access the local site. This is distinctly different than Craig's List, by the way. CL stopped allowing escort ads a few years ago as well. But I can get Craig's List in Shanghai or Rio de Janeiro if I wish. But I cannot do this on BP.
For example, try Craigslist's: https://rio.craigslist.org/search/rea?lang=en&cc=us.
In contrast, try Backpages: riodejaneiro.backpage.com
The latter gets you US sites exclusively. Ironically, you can find all of the prostitutes you wish in the dating section of any Backpage for an American city (women seeking men).
This is very odd.
Backpage finally threw in the towel after years of intimidation and legal proceedings against the company and capitulated to US government censorship demands that it close down its web site. But actual access closure to its adult entertainment site in the US/Canada occured just a couple of weeks ago. This is what a few of you are posting about. You can read the initial story here:

The bottom line, however, is that if you have a VPN you can still navigate to the Backpage adult entertainment section by using Hong Kong as your VPN IP address. I am sure there are a few other IP addresses that work as well. Check it out. I was never a fan of Backpage, I like to meet girls in bars and nightclubs, but I fucking loath censorship. This is war.
Where are The Trip Reports?
Only 1 real trip report in the first 7 pages. Used to be a bunch on each page. Wow, I guess things are changing in Manila. Ha ha ha.
Attached 2 pics from 2008.
And a photo of the now dead gunman
Good to hear. Lots of conflicting stories early, but sounds like they got it right now.
Does not look like a crazed ISIS guy to me as they would have killed everyone in their path had it been them (makes the ISIS claim look very silly also) - PNP leader said maybe he lost at the casino and went back to get some cash LOL (found lots of chips in his bag).
But how does a guy get such a weapon. Easy answer am sure as this is the Philippines and security has no clue (and apparently they ran away and one shot himself accidentally).
