While I would also appreciate an explanation from the BMA why this socalled "window of opportunity" to allow more water to run-off into the river / Gulf of Thailand was missed. It is after the 21. 10. 2011 (Invocation of the Disaster Law) still in the responsibility of the PM / FROC. So what?
May be the flood protection system of Bangkok was designed wrongly. May be the FROC / BMA / RID cannot handle it correctly. All possible. But if you look at the structure of the system. There are these flood walls in the North of the city. The reason that they exist is to protect the city against a flood coming from the North! Now it is of course bad luck if you live on the wrong side of the wall. But it is still the system which somebody has designed years ago.
What happens if you break flood walls can also easily be understood reading that piece:

Yingluck has made her position in regards of a possible flooding of Bangkok very clear:
'If we let the flood wall collapse or if the sluices fail, the water will burst into Bangkok, the capital of our nation, ' she said. 'Foreigners will lose confidence in us and wonder why we cannot save our own capital. ' (NYT)
I don't see major problems between red and yellow right now. I see problems between the people living on either side of the flood walls!

If you buy a luxury home on a beach then you have to expect a Tsunami. If you buy a home in a earthquake zone you have to expect earthquakes.
Human stupidity plus mother nature = natural disasters.
Bangkok is in a place where no mega city should ever have been built. It is sinking and will be permanantly flooded before too many more decades pass.
With regards to mongering choices, today is the last day of the 5 day holiday, and yes a few girls went home for the 5 day holiday, but they will all be back tomorrow and many more new girls will be back who presently cannot work as their factory is flooded.
As far as mongering goes, the coming few months should offer very good choice with lots of supply, meaning prices should be easily negotiated downwards.
Hi, I have been in Bangkok for the last 3 days, living in suk soi 29 no water or rain for the past few days, would like to let you know there is no problem at all in this part of Bangkok, no signs of any water or rain, yes the media has a lot to show and say, but this area of Bangkok which is the main mongering area is not affected at all, because of the government declared holiday the roads ar e quite empty am happy to see free roads finally in all these years, girls availability in all bars is a plenty, not much competition as there hardly any tourists, all major shopping malls are open, all major mps are open, yes quite a no. Of girls have gone back home, but still many are available as there hardly any takers for the ones left, so no problems at all, Pattaya, koh samui and phuket are quite unaffected, Pattaya is full though maybe difficult getting reservations, so don't worry and come on over, happy Halloween.

Bangkok was originally selected as a capital after the Burmese sacked Ayuthia in 1767 and the Siamese moved down to Thonburi. They moved across the river to Bangkok to be safer from future Burmese attacks. The low ground was considered a plus for the defense of the new capitol. Some years ago the Thai government commissioned a study mainly involving the traffic woes of Bangkok. The Germans who conducted the study had one major conclusion and 74 recommendations. The major conclusion was that Bangkok must be abandoned as the capital. Four of the recommendations were implemented.
