Best BKK trip for a long time
I just got back home from a 'mini-break' in Bangers: 2 nights only. Flew in & out of Suvarnabhumi, stayed at Rajadamri Road, nights out in Suk Soi 4 to 23. I didn't see any flooding, just lots of cars parked on highways and lots of sandbags. Tourist numbers were definitely lower than usual, but popular bars in NEP & Soi Cowboy were full during show time. The lack of tourists made things much more pleasant. The girls seemed to have a better attitude, and Suk was much easier to walk down. The temperatures were lovely & cool. Never been easier to get a taxi, and the roads were fairly traffic free,
Things are obviously awful for Thais living in flood affected areas, but if you're a typical western tourist staying in central BKK enjoying the nightlife I would say, IME, that now is a good time to visit.
